You characterize the other position as being ideological but fail to reflect on how your own position reflects a particular ideology--just because that position reflects the typical dominant/default position in society doesn't mean it isn't ideological. Perhaps next time you will speak of your actual argument instead of insulting your students with ad hominems that your yourself cannot hope to overcome.
