you should make sure that your bios is not forcing a different speed, so load default settings then install your new chip. you should be good from there

'Support'? A power supple does not 'support' any processors. It'll run it or it won't, and if it can run an X2, it can run Phenom.

Before you guys start thinking im an AMD Fanboy or Intel Lover let me tell you that I use both and am not a liar when it comes to computers.

For now in Q1 Intel is faster but in Q3 and Q4 AMD will be faster. Intel does not have a high FSB but has a high Cache. AMD does not have a large Cache but has a high FSB.

In servers AMD has an advantage example 2 GHz AMD = 3.2 GHz Intel. In gaming Intel has an advantage example 2.4 GHz low end Intel = 2.3 GHz high end AMD.Amd is gonn' have the win in Q3

If you honestly think AMD will be faster by Q4, your far away from the truth. AMD has slowly been running out of money for RandD, which explains there outragous prices compared to Intel. AMD is far behind Intel right now, and Intel is still raising the bar getting ready to release ANOTHER chip. AMD has so much catching up to do, they might as well roll over and die.

You are 100% current. I'd just like to add that because of the high bandwidth connections. AMD Spiders can handle high res games way better then any quad Sli Nvidia/Intel rig.

It's been proven so many times that the intel FSB is a bottle neck and why 4 ATi chips work so much better on PCI-Ex 2.0. Can't wait for the 1GB 4870 cards to be released. I got a butt load of money sitting around just for it. idk what I'm going to do with my 3870s. probly give them away...

AMDS chips have lower fsb witch is 200mhz at stock.

AMD uses what you call a fsb hyper transport two completly difrent things AMD will allways have more cpu & memory bandwidth due to haveing hyperthransport & a intergrated memory controller.

intel is useing old legacy front side bus architecture witch is probably older than you infact its been used way back then when the pentium was considerd fast.

intel will be copying AMDS direct connect architecture in 2009.

yes AMD is low chache but AMD Phenom System Bus very Hight very speed for L2 chache no problem ... Intel System Bus Low isn't hight for Quad Core ... Every time AMD first :) and i Very like AMD but i use AMD Athlon 64 X2 is perfect speed very nice ... i say AMD First every time
