  • Actually there is much to be ruined, especially in this opera, as the libretto is based off of Pushkin's beautiful novel, which is a Russian literary classic. I still hold to the fact that you are being extremely immature, as you are making completely uncalled-for personal attacks that mirror that of a 5-year-old. I can't have a discussion with someone with your sort of mentality, so the discussion stops here, with me walking away with class and you looking like a complete fool. Good day.

  • It's obvious that you've never read original "Onegin". Pleas read it! It's important to improve your education. I adore this opera, it's my favorite, but text is just melodramatic love story, very shalow... And original deals with many important topics. It's deep and subversive.

You have no contentions... you are not interesting, just tedious. there is no challenge... "walking away with class"- please do it...

  • Aw. I wish it was in Russian. It works much better with the music. Sounds cheesy in English.

  • Aw, it's translated? What a shame.

  • Why shame! Do you realize that audience should understand WORDS as well as music! OPERA is WORDS + MUSIC!!!! oFFFFFFFF!

  • Yes, and that's why there is often supertitles when you see an opera. The audience should also gain an appreciation for the original language in which an opera was written, the way the composer intended. Having this production in English is only acceptable because they are students, and Russian is an extremely difficult language to master.

  • no! nooooooo! no! you are wrong! opera is music+words which you can understand! that was basic idea when opera was created! music and text togedher make natural symbiosis working together: words dealing with your conscience and music with your sub-conscience together, in the same time!!!! there is no time to watch supertitles!!! NO! you have to enjoy in acting and movement of actors! all this components must be included in opera as genre!!! supertitles!? blasphemy!

  • Are you suggesting that adding supertitles to a performance is more blasphemous than ALTERING the work of the librettist? Personally, I would much rather have supertitles and be able to listen to the beauty of the language for which the music was intended. And, by the way, just because I have a different opinion doesn't mean I am wrong. Your comments are immature.

  • "work of the librettist"!? you must have serious problem with artistic taste! almost all librettos (almost) are frivolous, idiotic offals of great drama master peaces. There is nothing to be ruined.

I'm not immature, your comments are words of ignorant solo-singer... you should work on your complete theater education, not just repeating la-la-la-la-la-laaaaa...

beauty of language? you are a philologist?

you love language, and don't care of meaning! that can say just an ignorant singer. scandal!
