When i stayed at The New Frontier my room overlooked the sign, so every night me and my mate could just look at it from our bedroom window. What a happy memory :-)
was at vegas in november 08. just walkin on the strip and noticed a vacant chunk of land, and this massive "frontier" sign. It was like holy shit this sign is huge! never heard of it till then. now i wish i would have checked it out 7 years ago when i was there.
The new Plaza project is on hold for now, but when that projects finishes up the sign will go. But with our current economic landscape the plaza project could be on hold for a while
The Frontier sign was the Tallest sign on the Strip for years at 186' tall! I talked with the folks at the Neon Museum about getting the sign, but they had not heard anything from the property owners. They did get the Stardust sign which is awesome!
Agreed Wynn is an asset to Vegas, but his casino signage is equal to the lamest cheapest strip center mall signs. The Monty Carlo burned like some cheap styrofoam plastica. Old Vegas had class with its Neon icon signage, Wynn could learn from that with all the Indian casinos popping up around the country. Average Joes like the glitter not the "Mall look" that Wynn is converting the strip to. Trashing the Dunes sign tells his intent in peril.
Yes Steve Wynn Built up the city, but allowing the Neon theme to go away I think was a mistake IMO! If you want any Old school Las Vegas you had better stay North of the Fashion show mall, but even those places may close in a year or two!
R.I.P Frontier and part of the great history of Vegas!

You'll have to go to Laughling for that.
But Laughling will be next.
Laughling has an even better location closer to California and Arizona ,so developer will go for it soon..
it would not surprise me to see the ttrump tower Laughling in a few years

I was in Vegas in April and the Sign still stands! Maybe they're going to keep it?

I would almost doubt it. As that property getd developed the sign will go.

It would be cool to keep the sign as part of Vegas history
they can build a new building and keep the sign with a historical plaque on it
They don't make these signs no more,so they are part of history

No Stardust sign lighting the strip equals no more return visits. Thanks Steve Wynn for turning the town into Chucky Cheeze.

That is so cool. We'll never be able to see the Frontier Sign advertising Gilley's on the Las Vegas Strip lit again.
