Great video, I have a 701 myself and love flying them. I see you listed the temp and field elavation. But more importantly was the head wind you had. Which as you and I both know makes the take off VERY SHORT.
I would say my shortest take off was 30 foot with about 15kts head wind. For me, I don't like to take the plane out with anything more than 10 kts blowing. Not because of the flying but because of the fliping over during Taxi. It's such a light plane and the wings develop so much lift.
When we get both STOL and speed (aka low fuel consumption per traveled distance unit) I will be really interested. As of today we don't have that, it's either get up in the air quickly or go fast, not both. 169 km/h at 75% cruise, that's at least 20 l/100km (probably a bit more), which isn't economicaly viable with todays fuel prices, at least not in Europe. With the same engine you get close to 300 km/h in an RV for example, but it takes of in over 300 m on the other hand.
Hi, I just have to say that your plane is awesome. What is the horsepower range if you had a guess? Im building a toyota camry engine with a turbo for one of these planes. hoping for about 240 at prop. awesome job
What FAA rules? The regulations aren't there to stop you from hurting yourself, they're there to stop you from hurting others. I can't think of a single regulation that would prevent you doing that.
I love it how your name is FSX404 and you obviously aren't a real pilot. Just because you have your ATPL in FSX does not mean you know anything about flying. This is obviously a private and remote airport. Which has FEWER regulations than at a international or regional. I don't think the FAA would say its a good idea to stick a camera on your planes fuselage but you are still allowed to do it. Please learn some FAA regulations before you post such a stupid comment. Jesus Christ!
This one is the second shortest one I've seen, there is one of those Piper Cubs used on farmlands here on youtube which takes off from a complete stop (though they probably had 20-30 kts headwinds I'm guessing).
There are no good kits available. I looked forever and finally spent a fortune developing it myself. Besides increased performance I wanted the lowest possible weight increase and needed it to fit inside a tight cowling. I am VERY HAPPY with the results! Post turbo performance far exceeds any hopes or expectations. It's an entirely new airplane! If others are interested I'm considering building 10-20 kits to be used on any Lycoming based 320 or 360. RV builders/owners should love it too,I hope?
Hi Guys, I have one, The Big Yellow :) :)w/ XP-360 180hp and it is wonderful. Take of and land very short and I can carry until 300lts or 80 kg on Belly Pod. Beautiful Plane. Thanks Heintz Family.
Hi friend, the mine is carbon fiber, but I can built w/ fiberglass and about sell, maybe I'll suply them to Zenith and after that they can sell for you. Do you use Lycoming Turbocharge in your plane, what kind?
After looking at every kit out there, this is the one I will build first. Like the idea of a turbo very much. What prop do you have on it?

What is the cruse speed and range for this aircraft?
swedishvolvo 6 months ago
sounds like a farmall tractor.
Watch out for the thermals on take off, they will flip you over at such high angles of attack.

It's a Turbocharged Lycoming io-360 with intercooler. Makes 220 hp for takeoff and 180 max continuous.

220Hp for takeoff and climb, normal cruse at or below 180hp

i can see why the raised the tail up and made it look so goofy. That thing would tailstrike all the time if it had a normal looking one.

Yes it really has a turbo. I used a Ray-jay turbo with intercooler. The engine is a Lycoming IO-360

Is this really a turbo? Which motor did you use? I'm just past the beginning stage of thinking about building one. LOL (got the wife to say maybe)

Amazing. I'd love to see how short a take-off you could do at gross weight... just for shits and giggle.

This is an experimental aircraft. He can mount a camera wherever he wants to, and doesn't have to tell anyone. :)

That really is unbelievable.
Beautiful plane, I'd love to build an amphibian to keep in the boathouse.
How long does it take to fold the wings btw?
tykyca 2 years ago
This is the 4 seater, it does not have folding wings like the two seater.
