I just watched this whole thing for a childhood literature class at USF. As a 22 year old man, I am not ashamed to say that I'm in the library balling my eyes out like a 5-year-old...
if that's the case, then all my little beanie babies and other stuffed animals are roaming the hills at this moment :') i miss being a kid and playing with my beloved toys! there would be a huge pile of my animals on my bed every night cuz i couldn't let any feel left out at night lol.
Ah, this must be the Hanna-Barbera version of the Velveteen Rabbit, given the animation style and sound effects. I grew up with the Atkinson Film-Arts version produced the same year.
Its very humbling when you watch this movie as an adult and you hear those lines of what it means to be real, that though you may be a little worn, a little faded, the seems are a little undone that nonetheless someone loves you. Makes me cry because it just hits that special nerve. Makes you remember what it feels like to be a child in a sense :)
I had this at my grandma's house. :) I had such a love/hate relationship with movie as a kid. I used to cry every time cos it just solidified my theory that my toys were real and were sad if I play and love them enough. :(
Aww, poor Velvy (Robert's new toy rabbit). He and Robert were so happy to see each other for the first time and then when Robert is excited about his new racecar, he forgets all about the little bunny. I love how the rocking horse in every version of this story comforts the bunny when he feels lonely and rejected, and reassures him that Robert will someday show him the love he deserves. Kids are naturally drawn to more exciting toys and tend to ignore others until they are rediscovered.
I bought my husband a video of the Velveteen Rabbit thinking it was this one. He used to watch it back when he was only about 3 years old. His grandmother bought it for him from AVON. I bought the "imposter" movie @Target thinking it was the right one. I also bought another one that was half animated and half real actors. He finally found it & is so happy! He is now 25 years old and the movie still touches his heart!!!! <3
@dmolina13 Where did u find this movie? I have looked everywhere, This was also my sons favorite and i would love to get it for him he was very sick when he was little and he would watch this movie over and over, Thanks 4 your help.
Thank you so much for posting this!!! It's the only version that I remember from childhood too and I've been looking for it for over two years with zero success. This movie means a lot to me and I'm so excited that I found this version again!
What year was this made? It is the only Velveteen Rabbit I remember from childhood and I really want to find it if possible. I love the fact that you have it on here. Thank you.
I enjoyed this as a child and still do

I loved this when I was younger. I am searching it on the web! My VHS is broken.
Have you some more information about this old version? Year? author?
