Was playing my mom's Liz CD last night while driving around, and there's not a single song on that album that I don't love.
For the longest time, I knew only two of the main influences that the music I made held, but after re-listening to Liz, I realized she was the other main component. Her music needs to be brought to more people so they can appreciate her genius.
It's interesting how she just kept on going with with the pop thing. Her self-titled didn't really sell as much compared to her indie work but she continued to produce more albums like it. I guess it's hard to gain the trust of your old fanbase once you sellout, so maybe that's why she didn't want to go back to her roots.
Why do her videos suck. I really like her music; always great. Then they do this weird shit in the video. I could have come up with something more. Good example of a good artist being pulled down by hangers-on. But I guess that was her choice. Great music. Awful direction and production in videos.

Kind of. I've been writing but not seriously. Actually, I'd rather be in a cover band. It's just easier. I haven't really been exposed to really good original bands that want a female singer. I liked to do Goth rock. Anything right now would be cool.

Liz reminds me of those science fiction movies from the 50's with the giant insect that everyone likes to pretend is good because it's so kitschy but when you try to watch it you realize that they are just dull movies. How much of a career would Liz have had if she had left that sex stuff out? Like trying to make another giant insect movie without showing the giant insect. Even with the giant insect it's still.... a bad kitschy movie. But that's 'cool', intentional kitsch. Postured irony.
