i watched the entire video because i wish i had movies of my tours over there. you're lucky you have so many and that you came back safe. you made a video of your experiences and have shared it. you did very well, i think. thanks for sharing.
Welcome home Brother! Thanks for sharing even though I didn't get much time with the Army having been in the Navy. I'm one of the few M-60 gunners left from the 16 & 18 ft Boston Whalers that were stationed in Qui Nhon Jun68-69. 2nd Tour was more interesting and got some time with the 25th Inf Wolfhounds May70-71. God bless and have a great Thanksgiving.
Just wanted to say that I am an American from St Louis currently living in DaNang. Really appreciate the video. Lived in Nha Trang for a year or so and always went to Cam Ranh for the beach. Have you been back to VN since?
And it's high time that we paid our dues to the 'Vets. And that we, as co-inhabitants of this precious planet, find a way to resolve our differences without resorting to brutality. There was no right and wrong back then - there still isn't now. I'd say Methadone4Life has hit the nail on the head...
PS -- Toni is a stunner. Hope you hooked up with her.
This obviously means very much to you. It must have taken away as much of your life as it did the lives of many others. A brilliant vid that brings a few messages home for those ignoramus's that don't have a clue what suffering was endured by all. To all those that went through 'Nam, a big thank you. And to both sides, condolences on the massive losses - not just back then, but those that still endure.
Fuck yourself. You libs should try being on our(America's) side for once instead of your own. Your name should be buttsex4ever your fucking pinko faggot.
Your comments just go to show how much you don't understand about politics. Like you, I think that Vietnam and Iraq weren't the best decisions on earth. BUT, those that serverd didn't start it. They were ordered by their country, right or wrong, to go there. If you don't fucking like it, why the hell don't you go into to politics, and stop the pricks that made the decision to send them there in the first place? Or is that too hard for you? Remember - those that went were just like you and me.
Thanks for sharing the memories. Great video. Most Vietnam vets that I have talked or listened to have both good and bad memories of their time in Vietnam(only combat vets can call it "Nam"..LOL). I guess you could call it bittersweet. Peace. Thanks again..excellent video.
The Vietnam vets were the bravest of the brave and toughest of the tough. While I am fiercely anti-war(unjust wars that is),I still always give support to the brave soldiers who fight. I am especially fond of the Vietnam vets who fought horrific conditions, idiotic rules of engagement and pitiful leaders..yet still performed admirably. You can be opposed to war but support the troops. Politicians start wars..but the poor fight them.
I mean...i would rather live in the sixties then now...i dont like the whole cold war shit, but i guess life was just a bit easier, at least here in germany.
avenger741 you are a piece of shit. obvioulsy you are a gutless waste of life that should be strapped to a bomb vest and sent on a one way ticket to iraq where you can actually contribute for once in your wasted life. go fuck your sister and blow your mother.
Welcome home! Did 8 months (1st Cav infantry '67-'68) in Bong Son area before Quang Tri/Khe Sanh. English was battalion HQ but only saw like every 30 days for showers. Even then: guard duty @ night & burned friggin' sh___ers after breakfast. Figured we were abused (it was rear-echelon s__t)so loved it when breeze filled mess tent with beautiful, black billows. We did a week of guard duty @ bridge & entire platoon got crotch-crickets @ two-holer. Hope Charlie blew it, too.
Really good video. My father-in-law was a jet jock and spent a year there. Unfortunately he never talked about it and when going through his stuff after he died we found photos, a DFC and Air medals in a box, but not enough to really understand what he did or experienced. I wish he had done something like this video so his grandkids could know him better. Unfortunately without info from him, their impression of vietnam vets comes from "Apocolypse Now".
Thanks for posting. Brings back a ton of memories. I was at English. MPs. Went from there to N.English and down to Uplift. Remember when they blew it up. I was even in the compound shown in your post. Very well done. John
Air Force rescue/recovery medic .. was in country 11 months 14 days....spent more time with the 1st Marines and Army 101st, than with fly boy units. We did it all and we all have the memories. Good Job!
Thanks My Doggie Brother for the memories...I was there in 68' up North in Phu Bai/Hue(Marines) ..found out my daughter was born 10 days after her birth and went to Hawaii on R&R in 1968...we are alike but in different services...brought back alot of memories when your pics of the convoy...you were 20 in 1970 ..I was 20 in 1968...in Hawaii they wouldn't let my wife in to the Don Ho show because she was as too young...glad you made in back my VietNam brother
Thankyou for sharing your experiences, well put together and factfull, i was transfixed throughout ! I have the upmost respect for all you guys that went out there and for what you had to go through, enough said.

You are definitely an oaf. There is a reason why the military wants close-minded and stupid people like you to fight for them, because in the end your life is not going to matter. Nobody cares about wastrels.
If idiot is the "now" generation term for "cool dude" then, thank you. If you're being disrespectful, then pretend you actually spent time in a war zone, MF. You are clueless. Can someone give me an Amen?
You guys invade foreign lands and kill may innocent people. You rape the women. And you come back to America and expect to be treated with respect. When you die, hell will be waiting for all of you.
@phoenixmoviemaker Thank you for your service sir. I hope I can make you and other veterans proud soon. God bless you and all those who died. Lets be honest, the true hero's are the ones who die on the line of duty. May sound cheesy, but it's true. Thank you again for serving
Welcome Home. I was there in the same area as you, same time, Qui Nhon (Phu Cat). My son was 6 months old when I got home. Most people just don't know what we feel----
I consider myself a sort of vietnam historian..loved your video. I think the guys who were in Nam are the best soldiers to ever wear the uniform. They faced things that no other soldiers ever had to deal with. Just like today..I dont support the war..but support the troops 100 percent. Thanks for your service my friend...you are a hero in my eyes.
hudge i hate to differ with your comment saying "they faced things no other soldiers ever had to deal with" Read about the battles of tararwa, peliulu, okinawa, stalingrad. They faced nothing these soldiers faced. Dont get me wrong we owe a great deal of gratitude to the men who served in vietnam, after all my father enlisted in the army and was in vietnam for two tours. he was in the 173rd airborne brigade

The real heroes of Vietnam were the draft dodgers.
How the hell do people justify allowing the government to steal your lives?
Did you honestly believe if you didn't fight them there you'd have to fight them here?
I mean, come on... I'm trying to understand your thinking for just going along with what was obviously a useless and stupid war.

Thanks for showing this. I was there from march 1967 to 1968 with 1st Air Cav
11th Avn Grp. The site was on the grave yard. I remember those 4 hrs guard
duty, and running water during monsoon. Used ammo crates to make bunks.
All those shots and pills. Don't forget the red cross girls that showed up,and those
great porker parties that lasted all night. Those were the days band of brothers.
