  • Yeah that is true everyone in this film in terms of all the MI6 staff including Bond are looking far to old its quite funny tho as much as i like Roger moore he did one film too many and ended up fighting people half his age and being able to beat him if he hadn't stopped after a view to a kill then he would have looked like a grandad.

  • I always thought Moore's biggest aging difference was from Moonraker to For Your Eyes Only, he looked liked he put on some weight and his face certainly looked older.

  • @windoa1

It would be worse if Jenny flex had been a bond girl

    57+18=super cringe

  • The Actress who played jenny flex in the movie is alison doody who was only 18 when a view to a kill was filmed, thats shocking

  • 9:37 --> 9:41 : LMAO

  • All the Swan song films of the Bond actors suck all except for A View To A Kill and Licence To Kill. AVTAK is one of my favorite Bond films

  • The guy that was dropped from Zorin's blimp was the guard in red(killed by Bond's cigarette) from 'You Only Live Twice.'

  • Calvin, how would you rank the five Bond movies of the 80's best to worst?

  • You're awesome man :) 5:30 lol

  • Tibbet and Bond where quite funny when they enter the hotel room. Only bad points where the bad guys with the hats, they're naff, not really convincing quite frankly... Oh and that scene with the two lovers walking towards the Eiffel Tower, haha, well I guess it's just a bit of comedy.

  • My favourite Bond film, Roger Moore played the role with lots of laid-back confidence and as for his age, well there's nothing wrong with James Bond still going strong in his late fifties, if anything, it is a strong point! I also liked the choice of actors, you had Mayday who contrasts Moore's portrayal of Bond, then there's the crazy Max Zorin (love that scene where he shoots Howe in City Hall - Zorin: "Intuitive genius", Bond "Dr Mortner would be proud of his creation").

  • I actually love A View To A Kill, I don't think Moore was too old but it was a good thing this was his last film as this was the only film he looked even close to his age. Roger Moore is more convincing to me as 007 at age 57 in A View To A Kill than Sean Connery was in Never Say Never Again at age 52. The best swan song for a Bond actor and I rank it in the middle of the Moore films. As you said it is clear that this was not made to be the best 007 film ever but it is still very fun to watch

  • @MrChicago103

I agree with you. It is actually one of my favorite Bond films, just so entertaining and the BEST swan song for any Bond actor. My rank of the Swan songs would go: A View To A Kill - Licence To Kill - Diamonds Are Forever - Die Another Day. All of them sucked excluding A View To A Kill in my personal opinion. My only flaw of AVTAK is that yes, Moore was starting to get old but he was still convincing in the role, and the rest of the film is pretty outstanding.

  • i love the dummy falling

  • Your reaction to the "California Girls" song was hilarious. I've always rather liked AVTAK despite its obvious faults. Maybe it might have something to do with Barry's best scores.

  • And can I just say it's good to see the welcome return of your blatant racism in the form of disgust at Grace Jones daring to have sex with your glorious Aryan leader, Roger Moore.

  • Calvin, that song is The Beach Boys. It's a surf song, 'cause he's surfing down the mountain, yeah? Still doesn't work, but you can see why they picked it.

That scene between Walken and Grace Jones? That's how straight people have sex. I know your experience of it is limited to Bond films where it's usually just Sean Connery slipping under the covers with a suggestive wink but it actually gets a lot more hardcore than that in real life.

  • @AlbinoAl I think it's because the Bond films are rated as PG films, so obviously we can't have any hardcore sex scenes.

  • Nice review, and a totally great effort. All other AVTAK reviews I've seen have sucked. I personally loved AVTAK, but yes, Roger Moore was too old, and how on earth did he manage to age 10 years in only 2 years after Octopussy?

You mentioned that this film is tired, I have to disagree. People often complain that before they reach San Francisco, nothing is of any interest. Again, disagree. I loved the horse plot, but once they get to San Francisco, the movie just becomes terrific, absolutely.

  • I don't think AVTAK is tired at all, and John Glen did a superb job with his third effort. Octopussy to me is the Bond film that illustrated tired and boring (mainly because of the scenes in Germany, as India was wonderful). AVTAK is in my top five for the James Bond films, and I would consider it my 3rd favorite of the Roger Moore films, behind TSWLM and FYEO. MR>LALD>OP>TMWTGG is the rank for the bottom four films.

I'm so glad you're now onto Timothy Dalton - MY FAVORITE Bond actor!.

  • AVTAK Good Points: - France and San Francisco - Tanya Roberts as the Bond girl - Christopher Walken as the villain - Grace Jones as a secondary villain - The action scenes; fire truck chase, Eiffel Tower sequence and the final battle - Credits theme by Duran Duran - The plot, a better and more entertaining version of Goldfinger Bad Points: - Roger Moore was too old to play Bond - Moore doing it with Jones and Roberts - How terrible Moore looked in the pre-credits - The death of Chuck Lea
  • The end of an era--Moore's final performance as Bond, and what would prove to be Duran Duran's last great song. Ideally, Moore would have called it quits with OP and the more age appropriate Maude Adams. However, one thing I really admire about Roger Moore is the fact that he thoroughly enjoyed playing Bond the entire time, retiring only when age forced him to do so--a really great guy. I think it's safe to say his tenure as Bond will never be surpassed.

  • @radioclash81

You say that then but apparently now Craig is contracted to do 5 more after Skyfall which would bring his total to 8.

  • Cool
