@ohgeefreeks310 I know what you mean. I started out with the most basic of phones with Virgin Mobile. Then got a flip phone, then one with a keyboard, then a super basic smart phone, then the Intercept, the Optimus V, and now with the Triumph.

Do not get intercept. I have that phone and it is horrible it force closes apps and also it shuts off without my control. Battery drains fast and the screen lags extremly bad.

I had this phone for a couple of months and it was really good. I really liked it. I switched to the BlackBerry 8530 and loved it. Now I have the Samsung Intercept but this phone is on sale so I'm switching back to it on Monday. This is a good phone but if you want a full keyboard they have the new Optimus Slide on Virgin Mobile which is suppose to be the same thing only with a full keyboard!

If you needed a physical keyboard then the Intercept or the Slider would be good.

@tanksandplanes I was just wondering what is the longest that your battery has lasted without going to into "critical" mode where you need to charge it or it will die. Virgin Mobile's website said talk time is 6 hours, but I was just wondering if you had had a different experience with it.

@carturd95 When I had the Optimus V I could go 2 days between charges. I was a rather conservative user and didn't have a lot of junk on my phone, only 1 e-mail address to sync with, and maybe did a couple hours of internet use a day.

I got the LG optimus one which is basically the unlock version and different trim, but similar specs. I prefer the plastic, I have an otterbox case for it, but I don't know how many times I dropped the phone. Even with the case, if it was an iphone,It'd probably crack and it would be a costly repair. With this phone, I just pick it up off the floor, dust it off and keep moving. So, i thats why I prefer the plastic-y touchscreen.

@floeticdeath The "plasticy" touch wasn't so much a problem for me either, just an observation. I too would rather have something the would survive small drops than one that would shatter.

@screamBOTDF As far as I remember there are no notification lights on the Optimus V. There are light sensors and proximity sensors that might be what you are looking at.

Oh just noticed there's apps to install things on the memory card. I was running out of space on the phone so I'll look that up. Thanks! This is a great review. I appreciate the info! I'll have to check out the forums since I'm a geek. I recommend the Install of juice defender for more battery life, it works great!

@macintard You are welcome. Having the ability to move some apps is a great feature since most phones have such limited memory.

I recommend Poynt if you're searching for businesses. They're even on twitter and I complained that it didn't find one in a tweet, random one, and Poynt found me and checked into it. For example, say you want to eat at a restaurant of a certain type. Do a search with point, and it uses GPS to get the address, phone number, and some other stats and it'll work with navigation to get you there. Same for movies, and other businesses. Great phone/feature!

@jimjr1961 It's been awhile but I'll try to remember.

The clock and weather was Beautiful Widgets. The wallpaper I believe is the Live wallpaper that comes with Beautiful Widgets.

I was probably using Launcher Pro as a home replacement, but prefer GO Launcher.

The "toggles" on the home screen is Extended Controls.

If you have to have a T9 then you'll have to find a keyboard app that supports it.

my first droid and it,s still working like a champ plastic screen nice compared to glass my friend drop his hero and sad day for him i have dropped my V so many times on the screen on concret and no breakage so i will take plastic over glass anyday plus i put a zagg on it and no probswith using can't tell the diff.........but yeah a nice phone overall

Hello. I have the Rumor Touch by Virgin and paid the $40 a month and got unlimted web...So I was pretty happy. So my question is, if I was to get the Optimus, would would the unlimted web be satisfactoy? And also, why would I need WiFi on the Optimus?

WiFi allows you to connect to WiFi routers.

You can connect to Facebook with WiFi or 3G.

Jailbreaking is very similar so you can find instructions on the internet for Rooting the Optimus V.

How do you access the memory card? Through the phone i mean. That way you can get to the apps or anything else you put on the sd card. Or does eveything show up on the phone anyway without having to go to the card?

@edwardlover1970 I have download a File Manager app that allows me to see / delete the files on the SD card.

The apps would be in your app list regardless if it's on the phone or the SD card.

When MP3s and photos are on the card the apps themselves automatically find them.

i love that my new phone will have the swype feature, even though i'm sure it may be a pain in the butt and confusing to use at first. But a lot of people said once you get use to it it's pretty easy. I also LOVE the fact that the phone also has "speech to text" so i can speak the words i wanna text to someone instead of typing. Thats awesome!

@carlosrogel444 Depends on what you are doing. If you are playing say a graphic intensive game, then yes, it can get hot. Basically you are overworking the processor when it get's hot. It doesn't mean it is bad, just that the case can warm up and you will use up battery life.
