I know you get it from a deer tick. My mother has been struggling with Lyme Disease for the past 2 and a half years. She's researched it a lot and read somewhere that there is a theory (not proven a fact, but could be) that it can also be transmitted through sex as well.

Also, Lyme Diease can also be transmitted from the mother to her unborn child. So it's not just a deer tick bite.

Is your mother better now? I used to have lime disease, but I went to North Carolina (Duke Hospital) where the treatment of lime disease is better. Did you know that sometimes symptoms of lyme disease can also look like arthritis? I took both tests and they were positive. When I was treated for the lyme disease they put a iv or whatever thing in my arm with medicine. Then later on they did some procedure that took the gunk out of my knee where it was inflated. Now I don't have it.

Yeah, Lyme Disease can mimic multiple illnesses, which is why my mother was actually misdiagnosed 21 times before finally someone figured it out. You're lucky your tests were positive cuz those are only right about 30% of the time. My mother was negative for those tests even though she was in the chronic stage.

My mother is getting better now that she's with a Lyme Literate doctor, but it's a slow process seeing as it was misdiagnosed for so long.

Thanks =) There is some really bad doctors out there sometimes. The doctor (or whatever actual title) I was sent to suggested surgery!!! Absurd right! He did not even explain anything and believed we were ignorant morons. He kept giving comparisons about how easy it would be. Like mowing the grass, like painting the fence etc. He probably would get money if I did that treatment. Some doctors get money when you do a cat scan. How long until you mother was diagnosed correctly?

She went through 2 full years of symptoms before she was finally diagnosed. Once diagnosed she had to search for a Lyme literate doctor though. Thankfully she found one an hour away from us. Some people travel a lot further than that it's crazy!

It's good they didn't do surgery. I heard if surgery is done on Lyme patients that's practically death right there. My mother reads A LOT of Lyme disease books and tells me all the info, so I probably know more than many doctors on this disease lol.

They also had to put steroids in my knee for some reason. I don't know about your mother, but there were signs of me having lyme disease before it got serious. My left leg could not walk on for a bit and my left hip or was it knee, (pretty sure it was the hip) swelled up some. Happened three times, doctors thought it to be normal due to growing. Depending on the state you live in the doctors may not treat it for lyme disease.
