This computer noob made fatal mistakes. 1) when turning a PC on,,do not ever push the botton that fast and so many times,, you can kill the motherboard for good.
2) if you notice every PSU has screws..before buying an entire unit,,remove the screews and see if the fuse is good,,not black with the copper wire broken..Of course most people even stores want to replace the entire PSU for about $50 or more. I replaced the fuse for under $2 for my boss and it worked.
Ok so after a opened my pc and closet it, it wouldn`t turn on (no light no noise, nothing) I took out my graphics card and changed it for a new but i soon realized the new was to demanding for my PSU (psu still working at this point) so i changed back to the old one and when i pushed the power button and then it happend..
Is it my motherboard or my PSU that is dead/wrong (please tell me its my PSU)

Hi, Tday i finished building my computer. And i also got a new PSU - 650, ATi 5850, I5 - 750.. When i start it everything works fine and i can see the fans start working. (including the GPU fan, so atleast it has power. Now the thing is when i start the computer the screen is just blank.. And i bought everthing new and i dnt know what the problem is.. I think ill have to go to a computer pro to help me.. Please reply if u know anything. cheers
pls help me with this problem of mine..i got the same problem..when i start my pc,power went on,fans are blowing, the cdrom is ejecting.. but my screen still blank...and my cmos battery is dead i already replace it with a new one but still it doesn't solve my cmos battery promblem..help me.. pls pls...what should i do?
similar problem as well. Except mine turns on to say system failed cpu test with nothing on screen. Anyone got an idea what it could be? when this happened before it was the gpu but it could be the motherboard because if it was the psu it shouldnt even be able to get that far. Any ideas/ways i can test?
i also have a similar problem, my monitor led only blinks, fans are working well, cd-rom also operates well, but i can't view anything but when i remove my monitor's pin jack cable from cpu then the monitor displays akward type blue screen... i'm using intel 845 board p3 with windows sp2, with 256 MB and 64 MB ram... in it.... is it my hardisk is dying.... or inbuilt video plug....
If your monitor's color is changing when unplugging it while not switching it off is pretty normal. If you are switching on your computer, is it beeping? If there's no beep then I think it is the same issue as I had: broken power supply.
i need you help! my computer turns on but it does not beep but the cd rom does open. the computer turns on but it does not do anything nothing shows on the screen but the cumputer is on and the lilttle light does not flash. i need your help pleas reponse!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
I am not a pc-technician ... but it can have only a few reasons ... power-supply, grafic card or mainboard (motherboard itself, broken RAM but also broken BIOS). If you don't overclock your pc but having lots of USB stuff connected with your pc then it is mostlikely the power supply. But well, I am not having a magic marble so I can't really tell you what's broken at your pc.
when I start my pc, the power went on but there is no beep, the fans are all running and the cd rom are running too...I thought it was my motherboard because I did some research on the internet and my symptoms is similar to motherboard being fried...so I bought a new motherboard that cost me $70....but I still have the same problem...do you think it is the power supply??? btw my Pwr supply is 450w i-cute....pleaseee reply
Difficult to say but if you aren't using your grafic card all the time on the limit then I guess it is also the power supply ... the power supplies are most likely the problem. But well, I am no pc service technician. When I was fixing it then it was just a guess and well, it worked. With my problem it also looked like the pc doesn't have enough power because e.g. the cd-rom drive wasn't working.
i have a similar problem to this, my monitor doesnt come on and i dont hear a beep, but my cd rom drive still opens. i also have an abit ax78 motherboard and the error code on that says c1.
I checked about the error code in the web and it looks like there's a problem with the memory. If you have more than one RAM block in the slot then try starting the computer with one single RAM block only.
help!! my computer is facing sort of the same problem! i turn on the switch, but nothing happens, monitor's black, no response from mouse or keyboard.. the ONLY thing that happens is that the cpu fan spins at full speed, and the the 'on' light is on. no beeps.. just the sound of the fan spinning.. any idea what's wrong??
Sounds as same as it happened to me here - you can hear the fan, you can see the light but no beep and nothing is happening. So I guess your power supply died, too. Exchange it ... the power supplies are more powerful nowadays and doesn't cost a fortune.
hmm yeah, it seems so.. for me, its an on and off problem actually, its just getting more and more frequent lately.. (i didn't know that cpus have power supplies in them before this.. i thought that they just come from the socket and that's it,.. i'm such a n00b) XD
Not the CPU has the power supply ... the complete pc has the power supply ... it is the thing I was transplanting here ;o) It is possible the power supply still serves a little power for at least the fans. It was the same to me. If your pc suddenly switched off a few times then it is a very good sign the power supply is broken ;o)
Silly me ... I just noticed I asked you about the info of the blue screen before, lol ... Hmm, then it is definately a problem if you can't see it fast enough. Guess format C and installing Windows again is the only option. And when there's a hardware defect then you will see a bluescreen during installation, too. Hopefully for a longer time than 5 secs
Hehe :) my computer is like 3 years and around 10 month.. nothing's wrong with it..
Ohh well there is.. the The box is 2 small.. i bought stuff.. builded from the start by me.. any ways system32.exe dont works pretty well on my comp.. starts up in blue screen of death.. WTF can you help maybe? there is 1 user on the computer. "me" and it says it's being used by sombody els.. :)
Bluescreens can be a pita. What is the actual message in the blue screen? Mostly these blue screens have to do something with broken hardware parts or incompatibilities after you've installed something new.
When my tv card is in standby and I am playing Battlefield 2 or 2142 then when the screen changes to the playground then I am also getting a bluescreen. But that's the only software problem I have.
Have you tried to format the HD to install Windows again?
Thanks a lot ... I hope it won't happen again. I was pretty pissed when the power supply stopped working plus I wasn't sure if it is really broken since the blue lights were still going on.
Funny surgery! :D The reason it breaks is because we have to buy a new one when it breaks. They create the parts to live through the warranty period, then break. Its really evil and annoying, but true.
Yeah pretty true ... when I think back about some previous computers there was absolutely nothing going broken. Nowadays you need to buy so much new all the time ... not only because the computer technology is going fast forward but also about the quality of the components.
My comments on the laptop were not going up reliably until I checked the other computer through which our internet comes...
It was copying a file over and over and then playing it each time it copied. It was the audio portion of a video that Cindy was working on. It had made 151 copies of itself and it would play all the copies simultaneously. Looks like we got a Mac virus :) All I did was put the self-replicating file in the trash and empty it... Problem solved!
Or it was simply a bug ... our second computer here is also not running fine. I changed the USB stick for the WLAN connection and the connection is actually fine. But especially by watching videos on MSN and here it happens that the shit thing disconnects from the WLAN connection. Made virus scans and and and ... no idea what's the solution.
Hmmm.... I wish I knew. I fixed mine by doing some hard drive first aid and repairing the disk permissions. I typically do this about once a month and don't have any trouble. It's just that no one did it since June on the other computer. I think it's the Mac equivalent of defragging on a PC...
I think I have something on the system which isn't running perfect. Maybe it is the WinXP x64 about an AMD Sempron64 CPU as whenever the connection dies then also the computer is driving crazy about the sound, like as little freezes
Bizarre. Cindy's been complaining about things freezing and not responding... I think she just runs too many programs at one time instead of shutting things down when she's finished with them...
I think more and more it are some peer to peer connections that cause the system and then it disconnects and by all the disconnections the computer freezes a little bit. I noticed a few times before that the computer keeps disconnecting with p2p connections ... but not really sure about that.
Now I'm not sure what you're talking about :) By p2p connection do you mean a direct connection by modem to another computer, or something like the Airport wireless connection that I have between my two computers?
No no ... it is a download connection between two computers without a server. So direct IP to IP ... Napster and Kazaaa are using such systems for file sharing. But also some other systems like as World of WarCraft Update Downloader ... and this kills my connection very often as my ISP seems to don't like that
It is really painful ... as the computer is also so addicting so even if you don't have the money for a repair then you still repair it. A while ago even my broadband internet suddenly died ... I was calling the telecom company and almost bought a new router as they told me it is my router and I became crazy without the internet ;o)
I am feeling with you ... it totally sucks when the power supply is dead. At least it is not the most expensive part in the computer. But I heard the Intels need more power than my old AMD here. A friend of mine needed to buy a new 800 W power supply not too long time ago and it cost way more than my 550 W power supply.
The computer case looked to have an bad air floow and that can be one of the resons that it started to fail OR it can have been a bad company that made it, i did have a Packard Bell for like 5 years and it runned great even after that but i had to update :P soo now i'm sitting with a laptop much more easyer and stable =D Though it gets warm
The computer case is always opened as my computer always froze when I was playing a game with high grafics and the temperature was going higher than 40 °C.
Laptops are great. I had one from 1999 to 2006 and then it was broken (but by a little accident). The only bad thing about laptops is the higher price and that you can't change very much about the components. So not really a gamer machine ;o)
Yep ... but you hear that about everything ... cars, computers, and and and ... they invent these ISO9001 quality managements and new regulations for quality and safety but the quality goes actually down with every year.
Hi Sven! Maybe you need a new PC. I don't know, our seems to be working well for a few years now. But I guess all PCs start to get ruined after maybe 6 years?
This one I have for only 3 years. But I also must say that sometimes it was running for 48 hours. Once I had a Pentium I 166-MMX and I had it for 6 years without any defect. I gave it to my parents and they replaced the pc in this year but because they needed a pc to run WinXP for their new WLAN connection.
The air flow is really bad in it ... The case is opened 24/7 because of the bad air flow. When the case was closed the machine always froze when reaching 40 °C ... since the case is opened it is way better. The Power supply made some noises for a few months already so actually I knew this would happen.
The only drawback that I hear about is that they are not so good for playing games :) They may be a bit pricey, but I just think that my computer is the one thing that I spend more time with than anything else, so I'm willing to pay the extra in order to get the best computer experience, but that's just me...
I built up just the one before I bought this one. But then I also compared the prices of all components and found out that it is approx. 50 % more expensive if I build it up by myself than buying a complete system with all the components I want.
It is an AMD x64 3800+ X2 ... was running good with 450 W for 3 years and 2 months now. But by all the more USB stuff connected to the computer I guess it also sucks out the most of the power supply.
I'm always suspicious that they use components in these powersupplies that only last a few years so that they can make more money when you need a new one. Not sure though, but it looks like that sometimes.
It really looks like that sometimes and I think it also really is. The used components are having low quality. But all the companies are showing up their quality certificates and not many are also extending a warranty or guarantee as they know about their real quality. I had a toaster for 2 years and 1 month then it broke ... my parents had a toaster for at least 10 years.
I don't want to know how much it would have cost to get it replaced. They will obviously charge something for 1 hour even if it is done pretty fast ... took me around half an hour. Someone who is doing this on every day will obviously make this within 15 minutes or less.
Totally right ... that sucks ... and it wasn't easy to figure out what was wrong as the symptoms of a broken power supply are always weird. God save I built up a computer once by myself so I had no problem to replace the power supply by myself.
I really like the Tomi Bon Tomi tune doc. I agree with you about the quality seeming to have gone down. I had a moniter that was about 11 months old that konked out on me, luckily they warranty was for 12 months so I was able to get it fixed free of charge. Thanks for letting us know what the symptoms of a broken power supply.:)
Broken power supplies happen more and more often and by first sight it always seems like as it is the grafic card as you still hear all the fans are running and still see the power light.
I am happy that my flatscreen still works fine. At work we already had to get some monitors replaced. Way earlier than the previous flatscreens.
The "Life is a Carousel" tune is one of my top favorites of TBT ;o)
That's a lot of power. I still wonder why computers need more and more power. I saw already a pc power supply with 1000 W. It is like using a good vacuumer the whole day. In the times when fridges and costs for energy are going up but our computers need more and more power.
I have a AMDx64 3800+ X2 with 2 Gig RAM (had 4 GB before but noticed no difference at all) and an old ATI X1900 grafic card - was pretty good when I bought it. My previous pc I built up completely by myself.
LOL ... me too ... stupid enough that I needed to spend the money in a new power supply ... but if I blew up the whole pc then I would have been pretty pissed. At least this time the cable for the floppy disk is plugged in correctly (once wrong then you need a new one, too ... happened to me already a few times, lol).

Doch, doch. Bei Playstation 3 ist das Onlinespielen schon kostenlos. Und das PSN-Netzwerk ist auch sehr stabil.
Spiele als Blu-Ray kosten so unter 70 €.
JENSSCHLAU 3 years ago
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
Blu-Ray Filme habe Ich zwar nocht nicht geschaut, Spiele sehen aber in Full-HD hervorragend aus !!!
Die maximale PC auflösung, die Ich bis jetzt kenne ist aber so 2560 x 1600 ...
JENSSCHLAU 3 years ago

How are you my friend I have also lost power we did not work and we sat reading newspapers and drinking coffee
sltoon79 3 years ago
I am doing fine ... power supply is also fixed, god save. Even if I still have a second computer but this one is just my good machine.
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
Fuck. THis happened to me today. GOt to buy a Power supply now.. fucker.. mean time using my mac.. but fuckers... my beatiful pc.
oxyking 3 years ago
I am feeling with you ... it totally sucks when the power supply is dead. At least it is not the most expensive part in the computer. But I heard the Intels need more power than my old AMD here. A friend of mine needed to buy a new 800 W power supply not too long time ago and it cost way more than my 550 W power supply.
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
The computer case looked to have an bad air floow and that can be one of the resons that it started to fail OR it can have been a bad company that made it, i did have a Packard Bell for like 5 years and it runned great even after that but i had to update :P soo now i'm sitting with a laptop much more easyer and stable =D Though it gets warm
jvc85 3 years ago
The computer case is always opened as my computer always froze when I was playing a game with high grafics and the temperature was going higher than 40 °C.
Laptops are great. I had one from 1999 to 2006 and then it was broken (but by a little accident). The only bad thing about laptops is the higher price and that you can't change very much about the components. So not really a gamer machine ;o)
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
They just don't make 'em like they used to, huh?
DallasGuyZ 3 years ago
Yep ... but you hear that about everything ... cars, computers, and and and ... they invent these ISO9001 quality managements and new regulations for quality and safety but the quality goes actually down with every year.
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
i have that tripod :D

I saw mine also at someone else's video recently, too ;o) It is a pretty good one in my opinion especially as mine was cheap and it is pretty long.

BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
Hi Sven! Maybe you need a new PC. I don't know, our seems to be working well for a few years now. But I guess all PCs start to get ruined after maybe 6 years?
Symbioteofadiety 3 years ago
This one I have for only 3 years. But I also must say that sometimes it was running for 48 hours. Once I had a Pentium I 166-MMX and I had it for 6 years without any defect. I gave it to my parents and they replaced the pc in this year but because they needed a pc to run WinXP for their new WLAN connection.
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
I think they are designed to break after a couple years so you will have to buy new parts or buy a new computer.
You should do a video shooting the old power supply.
mieses2pieces 3 years ago
Hehe unfortunately I have no gun. We opened the old power supply to figure out if we can fix it but I found out that I am not an electrician, hehe.
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
No Gun?WTF? lol Get one!! Or better yet buy several.
It's juse easier to buy a new one.
mieses2pieces 3 years ago
I have a water pistol ... does it count as a gun, too? ;o)
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
LOL It's a gun, but it won't shoot a hole in your old power supply. Unless you put acid in it. lol
mieses2pieces 3 years ago
hehehe, I will try it with acid then ;o)
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
LOL!! Be careful you don't get any on ya!! lol
mieses2pieces 3 years ago
I think your computers PSU over heated because your computer case dosnt look well designed for air flow
ICommentonVideo 3 years ago
The air flow is really bad in it ... The case is opened 24/7 because of the bad air flow. When the case was closed the machine always froze when reaching 40 °C ... since the case is opened it is way better. The Power supply made some noises for a few months already so actually I knew this would happen.
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
I said it before, I say it now, and I will say it again: With both of my Macs the quality is number one...
phekwig 3 years ago
I would like to have a Mac but whenever I am seeing the prices then I am changing my mind ;o)
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
The only drawback that I hear about is that they are not so good for playing games :) They may be a bit pricey, but I just think that my computer is the one thing that I spend more time with than anything else, so I'm willing to pay the extra in order to get the best computer experience, but that's just me...
fehquig 3 years ago
I would do the same but my wallet isn't allowing it to me right now ;o)

BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
yeah. I'm looking at getting another comp just specificaly for editing and offline stuff. never been much of a builder.
Br0kenEnGliSh 3 years ago
I built up just the one before I bought this one. But then I also compared the prices of all components and found out that it is approx. 50 % more expensive if I build it up by myself than buying a complete system with all the components I want.
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
Depending how powerful the system is. yeah, better to get all you need vs all it comes with in whatever packages they sell them in these days.
Br0kenEnGliSh 3 years ago
It is an AMD x64 3800+ X2 ... was running good with 450 W for 3 years and 2 months now. But by all the more USB stuff connected to the computer I guess it also sucks out the most of the power supply.

I'm always suspicious that they use components in these powersupplies that only last a few years so that they can make more money when you need a new one. Not sure though, but it looks like that sometimes.
EddyBergman 3 years ago
It really looks like that sometimes and I think it also really is. The used components are having low quality. But all the companies are showing up their quality certificates and not many are also extending a warranty or guarantee as they know about their real quality. I had a toaster for 2 years and 1 month then it broke ... my parents had a toaster for at least 10 years.
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
Yeah it is suspicious. It's good that you could replace it yourself or it would of cost you much more money.
EddyBergman 3 years ago
I don't want to know how much it would have cost to get it replaced. They will obviously charge something for 1 hour even if it is done pretty fast ... took me around half an hour. Someone who is doing this on every day will obviously make this within 15 minutes or less.
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
Damn dat really sux bro
HollywoodHKO 3 years ago
Totally right ... that sucks ... and it wasn't easy to figure out what was wrong as the symptoms of a broken power supply are always weird. God save I built up a computer once by myself so I had no problem to replace the power supply by myself.
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
Das y u da man BFD
HollywoodHKO 3 years ago
I really like the Tomi Bon Tomi tune doc. I agree with you about the quality seeming to have gone down. I had a moniter that was about 11 months old that konked out on me, luckily they warranty was for 12 months so I was able to get it fixed free of charge. Thanks for letting us know what the symptoms of a broken power supply.:)
Nozokimidayo 3 years ago
Broken power supplies happen more and more often and by first sight it always seems like as it is the grafic card as you still hear all the fans are running and still see the power light.
I am happy that my flatscreen still works fine. At work we already had to get some monitors replaced. Way earlier than the previous flatscreens.
The "Life is a Carousel" tune is one of my top favorites of TBT ;o)

Dang PC's I have a lovely 600w Seasonic PSU and it makes me happy. loads of power to overclock my cpu and memory and make it toasty!
Nice pc configuration also similar to mine but I have a unicore 3.6ghz Intel P4
DJE179 3 years ago
That's a lot of power. I still wonder why computers need more and more power. I saw already a pc power supply with 1000 W. It is like using a good vacuumer the whole day. In the times when fridges and costs for energy are going up but our computers need more and more power.
I have a AMDx64 3800+ X2 with 2 Gig RAM (had 4 GB before but noticed no difference at all) and an old ATI X1900 grafic card - was pretty good when I bought it. My previous pc I built up completely by myself.
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
I saw the ram and processor spec on your boot up screen!
The 600w is just purely to run the second power input on the motherboard and the power input on the graphics card.
It also has the most stable voltage ever so you can overclock easy without risk to the components.
DJE179 3 years ago
About overclocking I am not really an expert but I think the system must run perfect and stable about the power or it can get serious damages.
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
That is very true that's why I like my PSU it is a constant voltage exactly to specification right down to the decimals

I am impressed about your selfmade instruments ;o) You're creating new items and I am just a doctor and transplanting power-supplies, lol
BattlefieldDoktor 3 years ago
If that happened to me it would be a case of euthanasia I am afraid rather than surgery! I was waiting for the BANG when you turned it back on LOL!
randomwritings 3 years ago
LOL ... me too ... stupid enough that I needed to spend the money in a new power supply ... but if I blew up the whole pc then I would have been pretty pissed. At least this time the cable for the floppy disk is plugged in correctly (once wrong then you need a new one, too ... happened to me already a few times, lol).
