Yup Spend spend spend until there is nothing left! Brown is admitting it here on this old episode of PMQ's that he took us from the black and put us in the red! Then sold off Gold for next to nothing!!!
It's quite funny watching this, so Brown was right and wrong. He was right that they would cut public services but he under estimated them as they are cutting 20% not 10%!! Makes Cameron look like the fool he is!
@jsdh1978 Most people here, unfortunately, fall for smarmy clean looking politicians and many of the new tory voters didn't live through the last tory government.
@MrGurlyboy Yes I agree that politics has taken a sad turn and now it's more about how you look more than anything else. Well if they didn't live through the last Tory government they will probably learn the hard way this time. Lets hope they don't stay in so long this time!!
@matt2fresh84 BTW a US Citizen getting a grips on british politics...kudos. If you want a primer, check out the House of Commons website, there's a good intro there.
@Chriseycarlyeah324 I actually find it disgusting how the commons is such a dog house with everyone shouting at once - the speaker having to strain his voice to be heard over the commotion. I think it'd be much more professional to carry out debates in respectful silence listening to the words of the speaker. On this rare occasion - actually agreed with Bercow.
@Hkepfer I believe that what @melonhead82 is saying is that they're first elected as representatives in their respective constituencies (John Bercow for the House of Commons in the UK and [currently] Nancy Pelosi for the House of Representatives in the US) then, as you point out, their elections as speaker are in house and independent of their elections as representatives or MP.
The Speaker keeps order in the house, and the people elecet the speaker during the election, but the whole house votes for a new speaker when one retires.
And the CHouse of Commons is a Democratic House, allowing freedom of speech to everyone who is elected for the people.
Well in the Constituency the speaker is from, instead of voting for a political party, they vote for the Speaker, and his rosett is the House of Commons colours, Green and Gold.
To settle the argument, why don't these guys just whip out their cocks to see which one is bigger? That's where this was bound to go anyway. How sophomoric are these people?
ive heard stuff about that shit! and im only 17 u son of a bitch, and i would say im alrite with politics. either ur labour biased, or just pure nasty. so do not screw me
Labour biased? John Bercow is no longer a Conservative and I criticised him. I think you are confused. If you had heard things about Bercow, then why did you praise him as a speaker? Bercow is a total dick.
makes for a good speaker though. Ive seen him on the way down to the chamber, and yes he marched in a really smug manner, but hes got a fuck of a lot more balls than Martin
And Gordon McMental is a sociopath who has to pop pills to stop the voices in his head. "A weak currency is a sign of a weak Government" - Gordon Brown 1992. Lest we forget LOL
LOL--your right. I live in the U.S. and I watch House of Commons 12a every Monday morning on C-Span. I think PM Brown knows he is on the ropes at this point and Cameron is going in for the kill. The MP expense acct scandal---what a damn disgrace!!!!
I don't believe in either U.S. political party. Next election (2012) I plan to vote for a third party. Democrats are a party of no ideas while Republicans are a party of bad ideas. Don't know much about the U.K. political parties but the tories strike me as being like Republicans.
Tories are like Republicans in a sense that they both like to use fear tactics on the public, in the case of the Tories, they are trying to act like the recession is getting worse, when in fact it's getting better - signs of recovery are showing, but I really don't like the Democrats and would vote Republican in the US. New Labour and them have something in common.
and labour isn't, let me remind you that it was labour who spent all of our countries savings, maybe if we stayed conservative we would of never had 10 years of growth, but I know we wouldn't be as poor as we are now
hmm.. i have to disagree with you. Recession was inevitable, it always is in a capitalist run economy, it is gonna happen again soon.. and if tories were in power, the country would have been in total chaos now, recession would have lasted for another 5 years..
the tories would of followed what all the other countries done, make cuts to save money. How are most of the European countries? They are out of recession, yet we are still in it. So we are not better then the other countries and we have a £20000 debt on every person in this country, I don't think we have done that well do you?
I get angry though because Labour are not really socialist enough - They have not reversed the anti union laws which thatcher brought in and they may have introduced a minimum wage but they did it at a rate which turns people into job slaves.
Better to have a Tory government which cripples the country so that we can have riots on the street like with the poll tax and hopefully see a revolution.
Can you present some figures or evidence ot back up this claim? Because otherwise it just sounds like you're making it up because you want to believe it. Thanks.

Shouldn't they be debating what they should actually DO

Why does the PM ask questions?
Why does speaker allow for this?
Nonetheless PMQ's are fascinating and like rugby, looks good but what the heck are the rules?
Unless directly elected the Speaker speaks for the house but not the people!
Am I wrong?
Hkepfer 1 year ago
@Hkepfer
The Speaker keeps order in the house, and the people elecet the speaker during the election, but the whole house votes for a new speaker when one retires.

Thank you. Question, how do "the people" elect the speaker?
Hkepfer 1 year ago
@Hkepfer
Well in the Constituency the speaker is from, instead of voting for a political party, they vote for the Speaker, and his rosett is the House of Commons colours, Green and Gold.
melonhead82 1 year ago
@melonhead82
One day, for a host of reasons, the UK Speaker retires or passes away. Then Parliament will elect another speaker from its' members.
Neither USA nor UK lower house speakers are directly elected by the people; they are elected by other elected members.
Exception, never has happened, but a Majority of the US lower house, could elect anyone able to hold Federal office.
Hkepfer 1 year ago
@Hkepfer
Yes, thats to elect a new one, i mean during a general election.
