  • Loved all this good music.

  • This is a great historical performance, preserved on film for all generations to appreciate!!

  • He could dance and belt out a song. He had legs and pipes and he was funny.

What a guy he would've been to talk to!

  • Broardway was shut down when he died, The man is The Greatest.

  • amazing voice!

  • like a cartoon come to life - genius,perfect.

  • WHAT A PERFORMER! REMEMBER HE WAS LIVE..........NO STUDIO OR BACKING SINGERS...

  • Jolson Rocks!!

  • @bj001r9327 Does bj001r9327 keep eating possum til he can't eat no mo'?

  • @bj001r9327 LoL, I didn't know Jolson was gay. Well I guess it's better he was a top man as opposed to a bottom.

  • @denzelsnipes69 Jolson was not gay! Today everybody is branded that. He was married (to women) 3 times.

  • @denzelsnipes69 It amazes me that you probably think you're clever.

  • @madamerotten Is it true what they say about Jolson, LOL!

  • Still the best. No one even comes close to Jolson's magnificent talents.

  • "And do the folks keep eating possum until they can't eat no mo'?"

  • He was the best!

  • He had an "iron filings" voice!!

  • @TheStubbleking I haven't heard that phrase before ... what does it mean? "iron filings" voice

  • @TheStubbleking What does "iron filings" voice mean?

  • @TheStubbleking I suppose that went with his magnetic personality.

  • This is a video glimpse of the kind of personal communication experienced by generations of pre-film vaudville audiences. Performers who didn't learn their craft looking into a camera lens. "Look em in the eye, plant your feet, and tell the truth." (James Cagney)

  • Asa Joelson was definitely on top of his game until the end. A classic!

  • JUST GREAT,,,,,,, THANKS

  • Pure magic

  • wow.... Al was a character, a true entertainer. Can anyone say that he didn't capture you attention? Such a powerful voice! It would be an honor knowing this type of human.

  • You're so right what a voice, what a personality, this man had charisma, he just keeps you on the edge of you're seat, im 34yrs old and i love him. my all time favourite film is the jolson story and joolson sings again, pure magic.

  • Jolson was the Greatest Entertainer over everyone else before or since his death. Even better than Elvis and Elvis himself testifies that Jolson was the Greatest. He recorded Are you Lonesome Tonight in 1960 as a tribute to Jolie who first recorded it ten years before in 1950.

  • @jazzpianoman01 Are you lonesome tonight was wrote and first recorded in the 1920s, Tom Parker asked Elvis to record the song because it was his wifes favourite (excuse my spelling) his wife would of had a few versions to chose from Elvis would probably be aware of Al Jolsons version and probably a few more as well

  • He's still got it - yesterday, today and forever. Jolie lives!

  • Hi flemit11. I've got the Jolie version from 1950 and of course Elvis's version; are there any versions from earlier as this song was written way back in the 20s,

    Thanks

  • What a master!!! Look at that presence!

  • oh, dats pretty
