it is the a1 version but the stoppages are nothing to do with that, if he was handling it correctly he woudlve known after the first stoppage he had a loose magazine and it was a half arsed attempt at cocking the rifle which led to the mischambered round
i luv the way people slag off the rifle when theres like ten other guys firing theres without a problem it wasnt the rifle it was the user he was handling rifle wrong and when he cokced it, it was a half arsed attempt this rifle when used properly is one of the best assualt rifles in world this had bin proven in tests against other rifles
Germany is not MY country. I live hear, but I am a Russian and from Latvia, which also sucks ass, just as Germany. And still, the SA80 is crap. Maybe the HK upgrade has made it reliable, but I have no informations about it, do you?
indeed the SA80 A1 was rather unreliable, but it has got a lot of upgrades and the SA80 A2 is much more reliable, durable and accurate. and yes latvia and russia do suck ass unfortunatly..Germany is a step up as i see no fault with them.
Well, I don´t see that Russia sucks ass. Indeed, it is one of the few countries that has a clear political position, and gives no shit about what the US tells it.
no as in its fucking freezing in most of Russia, not its political stance ,which as a Englishmen, i dont give two fucks about to be honest. ( i rather think America has done waving its big stick in today's economic and political climate) not that that has anything to do with this video. :P
These A1's are total bollocks i mean that's understandable its the British army's first assault rifle. The A2 is a fantastic weapon i would choose it over an M4.
you never hit the bottom of the magazine on any rifle, he was not holding the working parts to the rear when pulling the cocking handle back. he was jammin the rounds in the barrel he put his fingers in to get out a round out the rifle. iots not the weapon its him he is a fucking cunt and cannot use that rifle to its potenitial. what a cunt.
i got my training from the BRITISH ARMY you know the one's who use these weapons day in day out the standard issue, YOU DO NOT shit the bottem of the magazine it can jam or knock the round out of place. you fucking fat bastard. YOU DO NOT HIT THE BOTTOM OF THE MAGAZINE. fucking fraggle. shows what you know.
I've read all the Defense commentary about the SA-80 early guns, and never thought it was true until I saw this video. Of course the Brits have a better weapon now- Iraq/Afganistan (post 2005), but just imagine what they had to go through with the early SA-80's in the 1st Gulf War, well not to much ground fighting, I guess they were lucky.
I have to agree with that one.. I would even prefer the M4 to that gun.. (thats bad)
but im not in the army so i dont give a rats ass what weapon they use :P

Ive more recently been using the L86A2 LSW,basically identical to the L85A2 and thats fine too, easy to use, durable and easy to learn how to use!

people slating the l85a2 saying its a piece of shit are idiots. these are norwegian troops, they have been trained on the AG3 basicaly a copy of the G3. these are two totaly different weapons. if you watch you will see the guy struggling to use it. its exactly the same as if the norwegeian guy was an american, german, canadian etc. if its soo bad why did it beat m-16 series weapons and g36 series weapons in nato trials.
AG3 is G3.. We just call it AG3 because it has a Automatic mode. Automatiche Gewehr 3. Or just Gewehr 3. Its no copy, its bought from germany. But Norway is soon changing it to C7
ask any british infantryman who served before the 90's and they will say they wish the L1A1 SLR or FN FAL as it is also known as was still in service because it is better then the SA80 in everyway
That just confirms what a piece of shit the SA80 is. Nothing like getting your head blown off by a $30 AK47 while fumbling around trying to pick up the mag that just fell out of your brilliant SA80.
you say the SA80 is heavy and you are right, but it was originaly made of plastic but then no one liked it because it kept breaking and kept fucking up, especialy in the desert it got filled with sand and jamed alot, also it would overheat itself. but the heavyer now, the stronger
I used the SA80 when I was with the Brits this summer. I have to say that I am not a fan. It does have its good points, but it is ass heavy because of the bull-pup design. Mine didn't malfunction any more than an M4. I still prefer an M4 because it is lighter. Honestly, it all comes down to personal preference. Each has its good points, and each has its bad. 6 of one half dozen of the other.
Thats true, its all down to personal preference. The m4 is lighter than the sa80 because it is a carbine of the m16, and its design has nothing to do with it. The working parts of the sa80 are in the shoulder, so it shouldn't be as heavy as a normal design o.O
FFS I served with the L85A1 and it was an awsome weapon why people slate it is beyond me . Proper trainig and a wilingness to accept that the american's dont have the best of everything is all it takes
Doesn't surprise me. The Norwegians are used to the monkey-proof ruggedness of G3. Don't think SA80 (or anything else) can withstand Norwegian man-handling.
Yeah! I've fired the Cadet General Purpose Rifle, which is similar to the SA80, and with a full mag you really have to ram it in, or it just falls out like in the clip!
Also someone should have told them not to hit the bottom of the mags because it damages them.
Im a signaller, so i dont use the weapon like the infantry do, but i find the A2, to be a superb weapon, it's bloody heavy, but it works pretty well.
This guy has an A1, and he isnt trained on the weapon, you have to give it a bit of leeway.
It really annoys me when civvies belive what they read in the press, it honestly inst all true, the american rifles are far inerior to ours, by a long way, go to iraq, go find out for yourself before you slander the rifle.
The Norwegian version of the G3 works like a charm, actually never had it jam on me with live ammo. Used it as my main service wep for 2 years. Great rifle, and it's built to last. Never was that fond of the F1 Stock thou, but sure was handy in cramp apc's ;)
don't know if anyone already stated this, but around a minute into the video, the rifle fails to fire, and we see the poor man pull the cocking handle and tilt the weapon in an attempt to get the round out. This doesn't work very often, there is a higher chance of getting the cartridge out when you take out the magazine and pull back the cocking handle, so there is more space a cartridge can exit.
the early versions of the weapon were crap thanks to cheap manufacturing but HK worked on them and the a2 version is much improved though still not perfect
I thought the SA was fine. Minimal recoil and accurate. The only probs I ever had with it was n00bs not cocking it properly and bits falling off and/or breaking lol. Otherwise a pretty decent gun.
The Austrian Army is one of the best, when it comes to fighting in the mountains. Most of the special forces around the world are trained in austria - small but beautiful.
I'm in the army and the SA80 is wank, we just don't use them - AK is the easiest gun to fire but the americans may shoot at you so you use an M16...anyways the SA80 is bollocks...
I'm in the canadian forces and watching them shoot the SA80 made me realise I'd need alot of practise to change weapon styles. The SA80 looks like it is more stable then the c7.
apparantly doing it very good in afghanistan, actually norwegian soldiers was in afghanistan 2 weeks before the first american soldiers set their foot there, to gather information to futher actions.
never heard of the turkeys winning any awards for the force. i know the amercan forces does it good at junglefight also sas. but when it comes to mountains and cold weather the norwegian specialforces (FJK and MJK)is said to be one of the best soldiers in the world. got some very good critics from the american and british goverment.
the turks won the award for best special service, bullshit mate the british sas and american seals r way better than your shitty country, our cooks would be your forces
pathetic, and by the way its hahaha not yayaya. and i take it your english is not that fluent, especially when you say WE ARE THE BEST WE HAVE THE MEDAL OF HONOUR. this makes you sound like a eliterate kebab sales man.
The SAS don't like this weapon prefering to use G3s and Bushmasters. I think the joke was "I'd rather use an SLR than this piece of crap!". However I don't know about the latest version.
rofl L85A2's are the shit. would prefer to use one rather than any other gun. H&K did a good job reworking it and it is a fine gun compared to the older version. like everyone says the old version jams alot.
Never had any probs with magazine falling out of SA80 or seen it happen before. The guy probably didn't fit the magazine properly into the housing. Do remember having a firing pin break one time and on another occasion had an explosion in the breech which effectively blew open right hand side of the weapon firing the bolt out sideways. The older version used to jam frequently. I have never fired the L85A2 so can't really comment on that.
Competant soldier my ass, ive trained on the SA80 and the jamming can suck a bit on the A1 but this guy didnt put the mag in properly, and the second stoppage he clears wrong, WHEN THERE ARE ROUNDS IN THE CHAMBER YOU DONT COCK IT AGAIN AND JUST PULL IT OUT
The guy firing is a competent soldier, its the A1's fault that it did that not his. The A2 is a big improvment, I should know I've used most variations of the sa80, (LSW, one fitted with a GL!)
I've fired both versions of the L85 and the A2 is far far better. It does jam but hardly ever if you keep it clean and load the mag properly. The guy who was firing it in the vid doesan't look like he had any training atall so it annoyed me when he was trying to fix the jams because he was doing it completely wrong
The SA80 had the potential to be a great gun, ermmm but it turned out kinda the other way! lol its one of the if not the most acurate assult rifle in the world, but it jams frequently, and the mag realese is in an ackward position. The UK spent millions delevoping the new sa80A2 BUT it still jams!!! Every gun will jam! (i use the word jam very loosly) Personaly i think we should buy The H&K G34s (is it g34?? i cant remember lol)
They were firing MP5s and other things too. The guy with the issues didn't have the mag in properly, but the SA80 still has issues, the mag release and safety are two of the worst. But at least the gas system doesn't vent crud into the action like an AR15 (I have four).
I used an SA80 rifle set up to fire a laser on military camp with my old school, basically the mechanism still moved as though it was firing as an automatic, we were expected to fire at a screen which was playing scenario videos, I went prone to fire and had had the trigger down for around 10 seconds when it stopped firing BLOCKED by NOTHING.
Norway use the AG-3...You might know it as the H&K G3. Same thing....best automatic rifle TODAY!!!!!
7.62 NATO...thats why norwegian special forces can shot threw the corner of a house in iraq...the americans can't get threw the wall with their "airgun"
That might be true....but how???? the accuracy of hitting the target. We just camuflaged it and did some minor things with it. Were did u get this from?
fuking gay ass sa80's like the peice of shit styer we use gimme a fuking gimpie or a c9 anyday (m249 for u yanks) who pattened it from the Austrians not Australian's lol
Personally I would not trust any version of L-85 (it's not SA 80, that was the prototype's working title, the Service designation is L -85, L for Land system I think, like the L1A1, L4 BREN etc). I think it is too damaged, reputation wise, to inspire any confidence. I hear the gas system cover keeps popping up still too. It still has the awkward right side cocking handle too, just plain dumb that positioning was! Should be where the AUG and G3 have it.
The Army didn't adopt it because the G36 was not suitable for the British Army's needs. For instance, I hear that the G36 doesn't come with a fixed stock, and that the sights on the export model are pathetic compared to the SUSAT.
Then there is the issue of cost, and it worked out cheaper to upgrade current rifles than buy new ones, simple as.
If anything, the British Army should licence build the Diemaco C7A1 and fit the SUSAT to it, that's a brilliant piece of kit.
yeah the export g36 has a 1.5x site where as the german army's is 4x , apparently there are rumours aswell that the export sights are designed to fail and go off zero easlily.
im guessing this was before the upgrades?

people slating the l85a2 saying its a piece of shit are idiots. these are norwegian troops, they have been trained on the AG3 basicaly a copy of the G3. these are two totaly different weapons. if you watch you will see the guy struggling to use it. its exactly the same as if the norwegeian guy was an american, german, canadian etc. if its soo bad why did it beat m-16 series weapons and g36 series weapons in nato trials.
famaskev 5 years ago
AG3 is G3.. We just call it AG3 because it has a Automatic mode. Automatiche Gewehr 3. Or just Gewehr 3. Its no copy, its bought from germany. But Norway is soon changing it to C7

ask any british infantryman who served before the 90's and they will say they wish the L1A1 SLR or FN FAL as it is also known as was still in service because it is better then the SA80 in everyway
samuelbengermin 5 years ago
I'm not much for AR's (I'll pick a marksman rifle over an AR any day) but if I had to choose, I'll stick with a G36. Super light, nearly foolproof.
bravotwosniper 5 years ago
That just confirms what a piece of shit the SA80 is. Nothing like getting your head blown off by a $30 AK47 while fumbling around trying to pick up the mag that just fell out of your brilliant SA80.
feefee76 5 years ago
That would be darwin hard at work. Nothing wrong with that. Keeps head out of ass.
UpcomingJedi 5 years ago
you say the SA80 is heavy and you are right, but it was originaly made of plastic but then no one liked it because it kept breaking and kept fucking up, especialy in the desert it got filled with sand and jamed alot, also it would overheat itself. but the heavyer now, the stronger
cpk93 5 years ago
I used the SA80 when I was with the Brits this summer. I have to say that I am not a fan. It does have its good points, but it is ass heavy because of the bull-pup design. Mine didn't malfunction any more than an M4. I still prefer an M4 because it is lighter. Honestly, it all comes down to personal preference. Each has its good points, and each has its bad. 6 of one half dozen of the other.
BradTheNeck 5 years ago
Thats true, its all down to personal preference. The m4 is lighter than the sa80 because it is a carbine of the m16, and its design has nothing to do with it. The working parts of the sa80 are in the shoulder, so it shouldn't be as heavy as a normal design o.O
I dunno, just thinking aloud.

FFS I served with the L85A1 and it was an awsome weapon why people slate it is beyond me . Proper trainig and a wilingness to accept that the american's dont have the best of everything is all it takes

i heard that the A1 was a pile of shite but that the A2 is awesome
Snakebloke 5 years ago
Doesn't surprise me. The Norwegians are used to the monkey-proof ruggedness of G3. Don't think SA80 (or anything else) can withstand Norwegian man-handling.

ABBBBEDDULA 4 years ago
Yeah! I've fired the Cadet General Purpose Rifle, which is similar to the SA80, and with a full mag you really have to ram it in, or it just falls out like in the clip!
Also someone should have told them not to hit the bottom of the mags because it damages them.
jackboote 4 years ago
if it needs to get ramed in then u do it. the mags are classed as expense and you can get new ones whenever you want

if it makes bodies ill use it. stop yer pussyfutin!
sethcat99 5 years ago
Im a signaller, so i dont use the weapon like the infantry do, but i find the A2, to be a superb weapon, it's bloody heavy, but it works pretty well.
This guy has an A1, and he isnt trained on the weapon, you have to give it a bit of leeway.
It really annoys me when civvies belive what they read in the press, it honestly inst all true, the american rifles are far inerior to ours, by a long way, go to iraq, go find out for yourself before you slander the rifle.
That said, i have a sidearm :P

The Norwegian version of the G3 works like a charm, actually never had it jam on me with live ammo. Used it as my main service wep for 2 years. Great rifle, and it's built to last. Never was that fond of the F1 Stock thou, but sure was handy in cramp apc's ;)

SA80 sucks...but the LSW is a different matter..longer barrel and tripod its more powerful and more accurate..GPMG is the best weapon!!

Favourite weapon in the world, shame the mags fall out though lol
3ck02pwn 5 years ago
don't know if anyone already stated this, but around a minute into the video, the rifle fails to fire, and we see the poor man pull the cocking handle and tilt the weapon in an attempt to get the round out. This doesn't work very often, there is a higher chance of getting the cartridge out when you take out the magazine and pull back the cocking handle, so there is more space a cartridge can exit.
phoshho 5 years ago
the early versions of the weapon were crap thanks to cheap manufacturing but HK worked on them and the a2 version is much improved though still not perfect
campbellsoup2211 5 years ago
I thought the SA was fine. Minimal recoil and accurate. The only probs I ever had with it was n00bs not cocking it properly and bits falling off and/or breaking lol. Otherwise a pretty decent gun.

The Austrian Army is one of the best, when it comes to fighting in the mountains. Most of the special forces around the world are trained in austria - small but beautiful.

I'm in the army and the SA80 is wank, we just don't use them - AK is the easiest gun to fire but the americans may shoot at you so you use an M16...anyways the SA80 is bollocks...
howardalex12345 5 years ago
I'm in the canadian forces and watching them shoot the SA80 made me realise I'd need alot of practise to change weapon styles. The SA80 looks like it is more stable then the c7.

apparantly doing it very good in afghanistan, actually norwegian soldiers was in afghanistan 2 weeks before the first american soldiers set their foot there, to gather information to futher actions.

padbrit 5 years ago
rofl L85A2's are the shit. would prefer to use one rather than any other gun. H&K did a good job reworking it and it is a fine gun compared to the older version. like everyone says the old version jams alot.
evarus 5 years ago
Never had any probs with magazine falling out of SA80 or seen it happen before. The guy probably didn't fit the magazine properly into the housing. Do remember having a firing pin break one time and on another occasion had an explosion in the breech which effectively blew open right hand side of the weapon firing the bolt out sideways. The older version used to jam frequently. I have never fired the L85A2 so can't really comment on that.

The guy firing is a competent soldier, its the A1's fault that it did that not his. The A2 is a big improvment, I should know I've used most variations of the sa80, (LSW, one fitted with a GL!)
Muttley196 5 years ago
I've fired both versions of the L85 and the A2 is far far better. It does jam but hardly ever if you keep it clean and load the mag properly. The guy who was firing it in the vid doesan't look like he had any training atall so it annoyed me when he was trying to fix the jams because he was doing it completely wrong
origeonalpranksta 5 years ago
first of all let me point out they're firing OLD sa80's
the l85a2 is the newer version and come out top in a series of tests
secondly

sorry but norwegians the best special forces in the world? take it u forgot about the SAS then ey?
chrisdeeside 5 years ago

Should be where the AUG and G3 have it.
ausglocker 5 years ago
The M16 is an overrated heap, Canadian C7 kicks the crap out of it.
LiamOlf 5 years ago
The Canadian C7 rifle is a improved version of a M16. I perfer Germany's G36.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diemaco_C7
MaximilianBeers9825 5 years ago
The M16 may be a second-class weapon, but I would still prefer it over an SA80 any day.
chitoryu12 5 years ago
The Army didn't adopt it because the G36 was not suitable for the British Army's needs. For instance, I hear that the G36 doesn't come with a fixed stock, and that the sights on the export model are pathetic compared to the SUSAT.
Then there is the issue of cost, and it worked out cheaper to upgrade current rifles than buy new ones, simple as.
If anything, the British Army should licence build the Diemaco C7A1 and fit the SUSAT to it, that's a brilliant piece of kit.
LiamOlf 5 years ago
yeah the export g36 has a 1.5x site where as the german army's is 4x , apparently there are rumours aswell that the export sights are designed to fail and go off zero easlily.
