O M G...What can i say??? i cried a little bit when i heard this again...of course i come from the old school of music...herb kent...i use to listen to your show back in the day just to hear this song and of course "Oh Happy Day", also just to hear the good guys in the white hats...thank you for those memories!!!!
I posted this video on my facebook wall as my mom's choir sang this years ago and it brought back great memories. I received lots of heartfelt responses but when I tried to view the video I received the message, "embedding disabled...etc." I'm not quite understanding why you don't want this good message "shared" with the masses. You didn't write the song, you're not missing out on any royalties.... You posted the video, period. I think it's pretty sh*tty that you don't allow re-posts....
@Briniee & louisq52 I have those same Sunday morning memories while dressing for Pilgrim Baptist or Moody Bible; we were blessed children to have WVON bringing the spirit to our hearts and minds. Let the church say, "AMEN".
I've been searching for this song for the longest. My parents would have the radio on WVON early in the morning and it played this song, it brings back so many good memories. PRAISE GOD.
@louisg52 I was trying to find buy this song many years ago and was under the false impression that it was Rev. Milton Brunson's version that I listened to on WVON. I am sooo glad that I decided to see if somebody might have uploaded it to this sight. Yes, louisg52 I remember those days of very good memories......:)
I WOULD HEAR THIS SONG IN THE BAR AND KNOW THAT IT WAS CLOSING TIME, I ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG BUT NEVER REALLY KNEW THE MEANING UNTIL ONE DAY I ACTUALLY LISTENED TO THE SONG AND REALIZED WHAT WAS BEING SAID. I KNEW THEN THAT GOD WAS TELLING ME SOMETHING . I WILL ALWAYS LOVE THIS SONG AND KNOW THAT GOD IS TRULY MY LORD AND SAVIOR.
This jam was astounding to me being a product of Chicago's 'Southside i remember "daylight catching me up again"the sound of this inspirational gospel was as sure on Sunday morning as the promise of the "cool gent" playing it! This jam was as much a part of Chicago's black culture as the"Bud Billikin parade.
Always played at the end of "The Herb Kent Show" on WVON in Chicago and influenced generations of little black Chicago kids. I've never grown tired of hearing this song, this version. The Earth, Wind and Fire version just shows the influence of Mr. Kent (The Cool Gent) Electric Crazy People: We're everywhere!
fantastic song AND disc.......EXCEPT for the sticker on the label.........unless that sticker says something like "property of AM 1450/WVON.Chicago...." the value of that disc just got sheared in half! Still a stellar tune!!!
@lordkoos ,,,,I'd like to enjoy the music...burn it off onto a CD...then sell it to an anal collector and have some cash to feed my kids....but y'know what?...that disc isn't worth the wax its stamped on with the label covered over...Still a great tune! I'll take a CD any day however.
