Several medium sized businesses in SW Missouri laid off their whole workforce just before Christmas '09 and hired them back the first week of January '10 and lower wages. This made the unemployment rate appear lower in the last Q of '09 and lowered the total number of jobs for that year.
We lost 20,000 jobs in January '10. Over half of them were the 12,000 Sams Club employees that are expected to be rehired by the company contracted to do the jobs these people were fired from. Jobs?? trickery

I don't necessarily agree with all of Frank Schaffer's analysis of the extreme religious right, but he does make some good points. I do admire him for his candor and courage speaking out towards the religious extremists examples, especially coming from the religious right himself. Good on him to remove himself from the overzealous nut-cases and call out their thinly-disguised, hateful, violence-laced bullcrap.
