The original single release was take four and the first instumental break was spliced in from take 5 then back to take four for the rest of the track ;-)
@Vasilouxxx Unfortunately your wrong, the original released version is take 3. With the piano from take 4 spliced on. Elvis only did 4 takes of the song, there was never 'take 5'
This is my favorite take of this song. It's an early take, and you can hear E reaching deeper. His voice is strong, razor sharp. Sounded like he was having fun in Studio B.
This must be one of the best Rockn'Roll songs ever done and it of course one of best ever Elvis Rockn'Roll songs. NOT his best vocal performances as I regard that to, for example to: "New Orleans", " Anypalace is Paradise", "So Glad You're Mine" and "Treaing To Ger To You" (and som,e more). This is the real Elvis, we rockers admire, when he was baaaaaaad (in the '50s). Not the mainstream one, with "Kissing Cousins" and other trash
Real cool to hear these takes. Big Hunk is one song that I rate among El's best ever. But it gotta be the '50s rec, NOT the speeded up, to fast, versions of the '70s, when he did them almost on routine. If I could wish I would like to have it accompained with pix from the '50s period. Kudos for the written lyrics leibstandarten. I wonder where you got your username from. As a history buff I associate it with the elite # 1 Waffen-SS division LAH (Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler). Am I right?
@ThePuma1968 Well, I don't want to go into detail here about this as I have been on to many occassions, on history or even worse, religeous sites and there my friend, it goes astray faster than lightning (the so called discussions). I send you a message instead.
