Ipods may come with more features and apps, but I find the whole overall process of the program and the actual Zune player goes a lot smoother and easier
They are great. I've had mine for years, has been dropped, kicked, etc, and with no protection at all it looks almost as new and works great. I hope they release a new firmware for the HDD-based Zunes :(

@Nacholism The current one is snow leopard 10.6 which was released summer 2009, leopard was 10.5 and was made from 2007-2009. Leopard and Snow leopard look identical, it was just some minor enhancements and is a little faster.
Zune is far better than Ipod...the apple people are just desperate for attention, and the japanese people rape the tech of today. The nano 5g and touch are far better then the small zune (4GB, 8GB, 16GB) and Zune HD. The classic is pretty close to the zune 80GB-120GB but the larger capacities make it better. The click wheel is awesome, you just move your finger clockwise to go down and counter clockwise to go up (its kinda fun) but the best media player of all is the one I have, the iPhone. If you just want something for music and movies. Get the Zune. It holds quite a bit more. If you do care about all the other features the iPod touch (browser, youtube etc), and would rather them than the extra space the Zune would have, get an iPod touch.

you may have video and podcasts that take up alot of space loaded onto your zune.
The 2000 song is a comparison of a 2-3mb file with 3 minute duration, if you use a high bitrate mp3 file, it can easily double, triple or quadruple the estimated file size (4-8mb) Duration also plays a factor.
Take a look at how the files are comprised, are you using your zune as a mass storage device? when you set mass storage it will cut away from the 4gb, and you cannot use it for music unless you decrease

i work REALLY hard for my money, so i think it's legit to do some research about which is the better one b/c i don't really upgrade the moment something new comes out.
why does zune and ipod have to have that touch sensitive feature? my ipod screws up with the volume because its touch controls are too sensitive. every time i try to skip to another song, the volume suddenly goes all the way up, and i almost go death. i wanna get the zune, but only if the volume isn't part of the touch control.

Ahahahah, really? I'm not in the US but they sell them at the local Bestbuy. The reason Zunes are only sold in the US is because of Microsoft's limitation on the Zune Pass, otherwise they'd have no problem shipping the Zune to other countries.

Erm, as I said, they don't sell it out of North America because of the Zune Pass, until they expand where you can use it they don't want to expand where you can buy the Zune device itself. I really like the Zune, I think its far better then the iPod Classic but one big problem. NO MAC OS X SUPPORT! So I can use it! Microsoft if you want people to take your product serious, you shouldn't be locking people out of your product due to the OS they prefer. Because of this I don't think I will ever buy it.
I owned a shuffle before. I liked it exept one thing - horrible sound. When I bought my zune it sounded 100x better. No, I'm not a zune fangirl & I dont hate apple (who hates a company?!!) I just like it better. The radio rocks too. :D

i think that comparing the Zune 80 (or 120) to something like the ipod touch is rather ridiculous. sure, the ipod touch has a larger screen and multi-touch controls, but that's kind of the point of a touch screen: to free up space for a larger screen. wait until there's a zune with a touch screen (if that ever happens, some people prefer tactile response so they don't have to look at the screen constantly). the best comparison for a current zune is the ipod classic(that and 16gb to 80g? come on)
I actually played with one of those last night and its actually pretty cool. I think its the only one of the zunes that is better then the same kind of ipod.
I have a 80 GB zune and it RULES!!! Not to mention a high capacity 80 GB hard drive, a large screen that ipod can only dream of, the new Zune has an FM tuner. Eat that ipod and go put it in your ihome LOL

Take a look at how the files are comprised, are you using your zune as a mass storage device? when you set mass storage it will cut away from the 4gb, and you cannot use it for music unless you decrease

i really like the zune, no matter what ppl say. its actually the first device i would use more than an ipod plus it has a great UI(one of the best i have ever seen) and a nice large screen. i dont see why we should compare zune and ipod, since the zune came out a couple years ago. apple has more experience give microsoft a break!!!

Zen is kind of like the Zune, except it doesn't do all the wireless stuff. It's not done by Apple or Microsoft, it's made by Creative.

why does zune and ipod have to have that touch sensitive feature? my ipod screws up with the volume because its touch controls are too sensitive. every time i try to skip to another song, the volume suddenly goes all the way up, and i almost go death. i wanna get the zune, but only if the volume isn't part of the touch control.

Ahahahah, really? I'm not in the US but they sell them at the local Bestbuy. The reason Zunes are only sold in the US is because of Microsoft's limitation on the Zune Pass, otherwise they'd have no problem shipping the Zune to other countries.
But let's say for arguments sake that it's only in the US and only ever is going to be in the US. That doesn't affect how good a product it is.

Microsoft says they have no intention to sell the Zune in Europe or anywhere else for that matter. MS knows they would fail, so they just leave it at that.

Erm, as I said, they don't sell it out of North America because of the Zune Pass, until they expand where you can use it they don't want to expand where you can buy the Zune device itself. From what I can tell they're manufactured in North America, so why ship them to Europe when the Zune Pass isn't ready for them over there? Give them time.

No, rly, they would fail. There's a lot less fanboyism going on here in Europe. Price is what matters to most.
There still are a lot of iPods sold, but much less than 70% or whatever marketshare Apple currently has in north america. That is because people often refer to MP3-Players in general as iPods.
So as long as MS doesn't come up with something cheaper than an iPod (like 8GB for 40€) I don't see them making a dent in the market.

Okay, not much of a difference, but it's still cheaper, and Microsoft offers a 4GB Zune for $100. I'd be fond of them making something to compete with the iPod Nano or iPod Touch as well.

I really like the Zune, I think its far better then the iPod Classic but one big problem. NO MAC OS X SUPPORT! So I can use it! Microsoft if you want people to take your product serious, you shouldn't be locking people out of your product due to the OS they prefer. Because of this I don't think I will ever buy it.

I owned a shuffle before. I liked it exept one thing - horrible sound. When I bought my zune it sounded 100x better. No, I'm not a zune fangirl & I dont hate apple (who hates a company?!!) I just like it better. The radio rocks too. :D
So, if you have a ipod go to the store and try the zune out for a while. Some stores have in-store examples.

i think that comparing the Zune 80 (or 120) to something like the ipod touch is rather ridiculous. sure, the ipod touch has a larger screen and multi-touch controls, but that's kind of the point of a touch screen: to free up space for a larger screen. wait until there's a zune with a touch screen (if that ever happens, some people prefer tactile response so they don't have to look at the screen constantly). the best comparison for a current zune is the ipod classic(that and 16gb to 80g? come on)
