they're not garbage. they're just not boosted high enough. AA makes a nice S/C kit. 525hp. but the dinan prob. makes around 423hp. that's 98hp difference. the SL55 amg would've lost if it was AA s/c'd.

Depends on which AA SC M3 95% of them would have lost just like this car but if you have one of there shop car SC M3s that has been worked over and tuned perfect to the limit then yes it would have won ive had two of there E46 M3 SC cars and they both lost to my E55 in stock form and i live in Miami and know the AA guys.

Yeah, let me know when street Mercs get ahead on the tracks. Oh yeah, they don't because they understeer to hell with their so far front mounted engine. I've ridden in an AMG, they aren't that wonderful except on the straights.

Mercedes huge problem on most of their cars are their suspension tuning is soft for comfort with a slight edge of tuning. The biggest hamper is the electronics. They're what makes the handling in most AMG's an unrewarding experience.

I loved the handling in my old E36 M3 over my E55 but in no way is it much better and neither is the E46 M3.

Now I'd say the 400hp M5 is a pretty good choice against the E55. I don't mind giving up some power for the much improved handling and braking the M5 has.

Also if you've ever ridden in an SLK55 AMG, then you'll never diss AMG's handling. The SLK55 AMG has DAMN good handling, the best 2nd to the SLR, and is a direct competitor to the E46 M3 being track and drag strip.

M5's have 500hp, not 400 :P and this is an SL55 not the SLK55, the SL55 has the supercharged version of that v8. And they all handle like boats, even the SLR, that's the Mercedes way. Give the cars far too much power, and reign it in with traction control - that's their mantra :P

It's all good, my first car was a 99 E36 M3 :) Loved it, fav car of all time to drive. I've driven the E46 M3, the SL55 is more fun to drive for me...SMG sucks. SL55 has loads of torque and sounds like heaven, also coupe and convertible in one so it's hard to beat really.

Once again, Mr. turbo is playing pretend. Yes it is a SC V8, but bigger does not always mean better. Look at the Hemi dodge charger. Hell, if you want to talk about awesome straight 6s', the 2JZ-GTE makes the E46 engine look like a joke as far as speed is concerned. I have owned a E36 sedan, and E46 coupe respectively. Great handling cars, but for blistering speed they are not anywhere near the best.
