Can anyone give an example of another musician who:
1) toured & performed live as much as he has
2) is still making music
3) is still selling out stadiums through massive tours?
He's not 20 anymore, it's only natural that his voice has changed. But unlike many others, he's still rocking out there. Besides, the performance chosen from 2010 for this comparison is from a tv show where he sure as hell didn't show an effort. Also, it's good to see that he learned how to protect & control his voice.
all bon jovi song's got sooo high notes... its expected that his vocal cord will be affected. still, he delivered his song nicely and he's still amazing! ^^ how i wished i was born much earlier! ehe..
I actually didn't hear all that many differences. You can see that Jon has aged and his voice sounds more mature and when you look at the video you can see the difference in time. I give Bon Jovi a lot of respect not many artists have a career this long and still have people talking about them!!!! GOOD JOB GUYS!!! I STILL LOVE YOUR MUSIC AND WILL STILL BUY YOUR CD's!!!!
@kevgonzal85 you want to see the difference go lisen to blaze of glory live 1990 at the golden globe or homebound train when he could do it exactly like the album now richie has to sing it or blood on blood live to now etc then you will see a huge difference
it's normal that his voice gets deeper with age and that he doesn't wanna try to hit these high notes...and now his voice is under his controle ;D But ordinary rocknroll isn't under controll (; But Jon still has it!!!(:
@LordLiamo92 I'm not naive. I can agree that age DOES bring forward some diminished range but Jon's voice has clearly gone downhill not just because of aging but general habits too. He is still OK singer but his voice isn't the same it used to be. During the early 90's his singing abilities were godly: belting out "Santa Fe" with incredible power was devastating. Nowadays his tone isn't as rich as it used to be and his voice in general is really thin and nasal.
A speech therapist once told me that a males voice "breaks" again when they reach their late 30's/40's. I don't know how true this is, but it would explain why 99% of middle aged rock singers can't sing as high as they used to and have to change the key to be able to still perform them. It even happened to Freddie Mercury, where on the 86 Tour, Roger Taylor ended up singing a lot of the high parts, and Freddie had to sing the low harmonies.
how stupid you have to be to compare any mans abilities when he was 25 and now when he is 48? Of course Jon can't sing so good any more, but with his great voice he wrotte history! Can anyone find me the man who can sing in 48 like he did when he was 25??? That is the call of nature... I'm proud that Jon is still "TRYING" to sing high notes!!!
Jon has sadly lost much of his voice. Keep the Faith had his most impressive vocal performances, and he managed to keep his fantastic voice in good shape, until he suddenly went downhill. (Bon Jovi's music went downhill too, The Circle pales compared to masterpieces like Keep the Faith or These Days.)
@drakipovic Haha, good joke. You are clearly a fangirl/-boy who will call anything made by Jon Bon Jovi "the best album ever". The Circle was repetive, weak and bland, maybe one of Bon Jovi's weakest albums. They are still fantastic live but their albums are A LOT worse.
Don't get me wrong, I love the band but it is a fact that their older material is much more diverse, features better lyrics and instrumentations. Jon's voice was also much more powerful, nowadays it has diminished a lot.
@GoodGuitarSolos I'm a fan, but no fanboy and i won't call anything made by him. My opinion that Circle is great, lyrics are better than on the last few. Live they are remarkable, even thought John can't sing even close than he used to, but that's ok, we all love him whatever. Instumentaly they are better then ever, they are all grown so much and Richie is kicking ass.
@drakipovic I can agree that some of the lyrics were better than few years earlier but they aren't using their skills as properly as they used to. Still, live they are really good.
What can i say......years dont come alone. Ist obvious he started to study vocal techniques being and "old" man so his voice was already damaged for the spirit of youth.
Even so, i love his songs but is kind of sad seeing this comparisions
would yous ever shut de fuck up about his voice!! its about de songs!! i dare ya t name any other band other dan prob u2 and de stones dat have worked so hard in de last 3 decades!! everyones voice changes!! thats life!! im jus happy to b fortunate enough to still go c dem in concert!! de day will come wen dey stop touring and dats gonna b a pretty fuckin shit day if ya ask me!!!!
singing the country music as well as age has changed his voice big time , but then again singing like a champion for over 25 years would leave any1s voice tired :(
Bon Jovi has turned into a business, they should of given up after fahrenheit!...well maybe keep the faith! For the record the 2010 bonjiovi tune their instruments down to cope with the notes. They tune to Eb now but back then they were in standard E tuning! I understand that everyone ages but at least put some effort in it! He's turned Bon Jovi into a corporation instead of entertainment. love and kisses die hard Bon Jovi fans.
i see what you mean but dude.. he aged ;) everyones voice changes when you age and its been almost 25 years. his voice was very young there and he fucked it up with that song. everyone knows it. maybe if he didnt he was still able to get close to the key change but now he isnt.. but who cares? He is a great singer.. check out the Bed of Roses 2010 performances, they are AMAZING for someone who is almost 50 years old.
Funny, as I watched them on X-Factor and actually thought how fantastic he sang it - moreso than usual. I think it was because he wanted to put in a good vocal performance in front of the contestants.
oh come on, as stated in your description, jon fucked up his voice, he didn't damage his voice,he fuck them up and It was living on a prayer that really did it for him
