Expedia the most awful customer service. Bait and switch, refusal of refunds, and lies are a few of their "business" practices. I wonder how these crooks can be allowed to conduct business in the USA.

Google for "expedia scam." I suggest not using this company, ever. Being such a large, well-known company, it's hard to believe how much these people get away with. Again, don't use expedia. You've been warned.

EXPEDIA USES FALSE ADVERTISEMENT TO SCAM CUSTOMERS!
I was recently (6/10/10) scammed by Expedia of over $250 for a 2 night stay at a hotel. We booked 2 nights, 2 connecting rooms w/ King size bed in each through Expedia, ended up with 1 night with two NON-connecting rooms with doubles + $200 hotel fees!

DO NOT USE EXPEDIA. my wife booked a "package deal", planes & automobiles & we got stuck in LAX (Hertz) with no car!?! Expedia booked us a car for 2 weeks for $249. & Hertz had us booked for $ 863. for a 2 week car rental, so i was without car.
BUYER BEWARE OF EXPEDIA.

EXPEDIA tried to rip me off once in 2008 of NOV. They called me and told me that the flight that i booked were cancelled so i must rebook my flight. They blamed CHINA AIRLINES for their fright cancellation. I called CHINA AIRLINES, but found out the truth that EXPEDIA was the one that tried to change my fright so they can charge me more.

@orangeborange18 I have just read a travel book with a difference. It's called "Australians in Trouble" and it documents headline-grabbing stories of people whose travels have gotten them into trouble overseas. I was unfamiliar with a lot of the stories, but I heard the author is going to release U.S and U.K versions soon, so hopefully they'll be as topical as this first books was.
