Hands down one of the Greatest bands of ALL TIME and one of the ABSOLUTE BEST drummers of all time! Keith John Moon (23 August 1946 – 7 September 1978)
@lorr0309 I SO totally agree...I checked all the other so-called original studio versions, and this was exactly what I was looking for...Roger makes ya feel like these are truly his feelings.
Why are you saying Limp Bizkit sucks... I do prefer The Who's version but doing a remake of a song is some kind of doing a tribute to the group ... So from my point , Limp Bizkit does a tribute to The Who so if you like them why would you bash on Limp Bizkit
I'm not even 14, and when I looked at these comments I was like, who the heck is "Limp Bizkit?" I listened to the "Limp Bizkit" song, and was way dissapointed. I wish I had been born in The Who's generation..
I don't mind Limp covering this tune, they are just showing their props...but you've got to come with more than that, Fred. This song is a Verifiable Rock Monster. Cover something like Dr. Jimmy or something...
-shrug- I like both versions. LB simply took an idea and ran with it, putting their own twist on a great song--almost every artist has done it at least once, mostly with rather excellent results. Having so much hate for an artist and those who can appreciate music outside the box seems a little bit ridiculous, don't you think?
go ahead and like limp bizkets version, as to whether or not one is better, without this one, there would be no limp bizkits version for you to like... just sayin
Hmm...first listen to the original ever. My Thoughts? I'm going to Grooveshark the Limp Bizkit version. Sorry, The Who. *shrugs* It's a personal taste thing.

@swoyambunath Oh? Even though, to be quite honest, it actually gives the song truth. Simply due to the fact that you DON'T know how he truly feels about the things he's done. Nobody knows how somebody feels about the wrongs they've commited but the person themself. Thus is humanity. Simple fuckin' as.
Oh... and I love the Bizkit version just as well. Fuck the hate.
Without the Bizkit version, I would've never listened to this in the 1st place. Durst does this song justice, regardless of the hatred. My local rock station always used to mock his cover, right after playing it. They sure as hell were alright with the cash that rolled in due to its play, it seems. And this was back in 2005 or so. I figured the hatred would be gone by now, & yet... such a dissapointment. If he covered the song, more than likely he enjoyed the original. Artists are fans as well.
All I have to say is that this version of this song is one of the great songs in rock n roll history. The lyric, the music, the performance of the music and the vocal, may be the best ever by The Who. Moon lifts this song into the stratosphere. MC
limp bizkit did not perform this as well because they are not as well trained . the who were not just a rock band....they were classically trained creators.......great musical artists...from an era where they had to be!
@kokkinoskoufitsa3 Within the framework of the project Lifehouse, Behind Blue Eyes had to be the song characterizing the "miserable", Jumbo1. The genesis of this song dates 1970, during the American tour of the Who. After a concert on June 9th, 1970 in Denver (Colorado), Pete Townshend was attracted by a groupie. Resisting the temptation,he returned to his room alone , and wrote a prayer beginning with "If my fist clenches, crack it open...".
i think is odd that i feel like i do know what its like

are people bashing Limp Bizkit just to get attention =.= its getting annoying. look both The Who and Limp Bizkit are good musicians. My ONLY problem with Limp Bizkit's version of this song IS THE DAMNED L-I-M-P CHORUS !! THAT RUINED THE SONG COMPLETELY!!!
@JuelzSee what? you do know homosexuality has nothing to do with AIDS right? o.o thats just a big myth. dont be an idiot, if your gonna bash, give a good reason and explanation for it. Secondly how is that an insult?? xD its either true or not so its not as much an insult as it is a proclamation..thats probably false as hell xD
@vintagezigg there are actually two versions. the album version and the original version. the former is longer and doesn't have the organ found on the original. the original version was on the album reissue.
I don't think Limp Bizkit messed it up, it's just his version of it, and you don't have to like it. It's not like it takes the original version away =). In fact, we should at least thank the group for paying tribute to the Who, because it shows they appreciate them as we do.

Limp Bizkit is brave enough to take on that song. I'll have to give them that. But as mentioned a dozen times at least in the posts; they're wrecking a classic with thery're re-make of the lyrics, and leaving out the climax (rock-part).... Shame on L.B.!!!
Where doe's all the time go? where did my youth go? but more importantly...............How much time have we left? enjoy today, tomorrow is not yet here.........................

I don't think Fred fucked the song up, but the original nearly always beats covers. hands down. This is no exception.

Limp Bizkit is brave enough to take on that song. I'll have to give them that. But as mentioned a dozen times at least in the posts; they're wrecking a classic with thery're re-make of the lyrics, and leaving out the climax (rock-part).... Shame on L.B.!!!
The Who are number 1 !!!!

Definitely one of my fave Who songs, and the only version that matters. The other version mentioned...well, it's just limp. ;-)
