I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but the soundtrack with the final battle scene was just so good! AWESOME. The music with the images fit so perfectly. When the Galactica was taking a thrashing, the raptors in the asteroid field (poor Racetrack, I loved Racetrack)... just excellent scoring. Frenetic music down to just metal wrenching and groaning when the leviathan Galactica breaks her back.. powerful.
Was re-watching Islands in the stream of stars again and realised something with Daybreak.
The flash back where Adama gets absolutely smashed and pukes by the wall is so reminicent of the 'adama against the wall with white paint' that it was freaky!
Angel Baltar and Angel Six walking down the street arguing about whether this will all happen again. Which one of them is the joker and which one is the thief? I like the fact that they tell us "God" doesn't like being called that.
Roslin finished her job, I think in the sense that at the end she was too weak to "step" onto Earth herself, so she was carried there, thus keeping in tune with the dying leader who would not live to enter the promised land. And like Moses, she was buried on a hill, overlooking a plain. Moses was buried on Mt. Nibo to b exact.
The "promised land" turned out not to be Earth, or the next Earth....but the cottage that Roslyn always said she wanted, the cottage that Bill himself wanted to make, and will...but Roslyn was denied her dream house.
through a few doors...?!?! To me it was a poor but not overly terrible finale - as fans I suppose we get ahead of ourselves in our expectations, but it seems Moore was leading us that way so to give us this "make up your own minds" ending annoyed me. I wanted his excellant gift for writing to tell me EVERYTHING that had been bought up before and have significant relevance to the overall story. Still, I did actually like it though maybe it doesnt come across that way...rant over, roll on Caprica!
Also, what was the real relevance of the flashbacks?they felt like pointless filler that shouldnt be in the finale of a show like this. There was no huge culling of either species too, something I honestly thought would happen-instead we get the cutesy 'everyone lives happily ever after' ending, well other than us-but I know our generation is screwed, I dont care about that but I DO care about BSG lol!The Gaius/Number 6 thing was really lame too there whole purpose was to pick Hera up and walk
I also realized something about the Kara/Lee flashback...Lee almost ruined her relationship with two very good people because Kara is an emotionally crippled frack-magnet. Lee never "understood" her in that regard, and if you notice, he really loses the women in his life in a similar manner to Bill, he loses his ex-wife, and he loses a person who never truely loved him in the way she loved either Zak or Sam. She chose to be the better person and rejoin her husband in the afterlife.
Shame the 'big finale' we were all promised turned out to be a little bit of a let down (to me anyway) - I mean it all seemed a bit of a cop out. The big fight wasnt as big as it should have been (though it was tense), and to me theres too many loose ends. They went through ALL that for Hera and there seemed to be little to no point - she didnt do or inspire anything. And the opera house thing, after the frak knows how many episides its been shown in, was so loosely connected it really bugged me!
It wasnt a let down. Everything had a spiritual connection, and the final revelation of the opera house, in size, scope, and just how everything came together was what the series was truley driving to.
My full theory is too long. But basically, Galactica saves Hera, destroys most of Cavils faction, and returns with 1 jump left. Rebel Cylons find a habitable planet, but the fleet is attacked by the rest of Cavil's forces. They manage to save the fleet, the sacrifice being what causes the average person to accept the Cylons. When Galactica gets back, they all go to their new home.
Cut forward to the future, and we are given and ending that makes us wonder if the cycle really was broken.
I am still thinking they are all gonna die. Kara was leading the way to find the colony. The hybrid said she'd lead them all to their end, although my friend commented that the hybrid could have meant the cylons. Who is Kara the harbringer of death for humans or cylons? Head Six said Baltar would be author of humanity's final chapter. The last Frakkin special confirmed that she is not just in his head but is a messenger. The cylon god will be revealed perhaps.
Pretty good episode, I canjnot wait for next week. Did feel a bit dry though, with the flashbacks, I can only hope that they are indeed explained over the final two hours of this show.
And for the piano version of The Song, personally, my hair slowly stood up on end as a came to a realization of what it was.
Great episode, especially the beginning. I love how little Hera is sitting there drawing out the answers and Cavil and the other enemy Cylons are stuck there trying to figure out when she's going to give them some answers. I still don't get how this music is going to help them find a habitable planet. This last episode felt like 20 minutes and not an hour, so in two hours this week, will they find a new planet?
Some centurions will surrender, they seem to in some way have individual aspects, for example when Thai's wife woke up on a ship and thanked one of them. Why say thank you to a machine unable to have any response? That's like saying thank you to the elevator...
Though, i have a feeling something dramatic is going to happen to mr evil skinjob... maybe he has a vision or something from Hera?

It would be neat once they finish Caprica to do a small series on the Cylon War. It would be a WWII like drama, it would be neat

The filler flashbacks were character peices designed to show various things
-Bill won't betray his beleifs and won't take being called a liar or be taken for a fool, he stayed true to this
-Lee lets Kara (represented by the pidgeon) go at Zak's apartment, and again on our Earth
-Roslyn tells Adar she'll be there until the end, which happens. Her political career begins the rest of her life and concludes it.

Yeah I got that....but we already knew all this didnt we?!?! I dont think we needed it for the finale.
