Alex had one good half of football against a weak defense running a spread offense. The Texans did not game plan for a wide open attack. It's way too early to call Smith is a world beater after one half of football.
The week before the bye, they lost to the Falcons 45-10. The issue is that with Hill, the Niners can't run a spread offense like that because he doesn't have the arm.

Alex Smith is the biggest QB bust since Ryan Leaf and Tim Couch. Smith had his chance. His first season was garbage, but he was a rookie so we gave him that. His second season the 49ers went 9-7 but he had Frank Gore that carried the team on his back with1600+ yards for the season. Alex Smith still had 16 TDs and 16 INTS which is not very good. Then he fucked up his throwing arm and was basically out for 2 seasons. So i say let Hill start the whole season, at least he is 7-3 as a starter.

smith turns the ball over too much but gives you big play ability with his arm as shaun hill doesnt turn the ball over but the offense lags behind him. But both quarterbacks could be alot better if they had a good o-line and some explosive players behind them so right now to me its kinda like picking your poison. But if i had to make a decision i would take shaun because he's way more consisitent than Alex smith.

As for Singletary, he's a great motivater, but I haven't seen much from him to prove to me he's a "great" coach. Alex took a pay-cut and was offered more money by other teams but he decided to stay in SF and finish what he started. He stayed behind the bye week to throw to Crabtree. Now that he has some nice talent at WR and has had a chance to absorb the offense, I expect to see some return on us drafting him first over all. GO NINERS!

Shaun hill just dosent have that psychological profile required to be a more than average quarterback, to my opinion Smith has this, plus he has a very powerful arm, if the 49ers play their cards right they could help make of Alex smith into an ellite NFL QB, hi has alot to show and he is still very young, plus i like his coolness on the field. Lets give the kid another shot, today he demosntraded that he deserves it. In sumery, i belive Smith is a better QB than Shaun Hill, has more potencial.

Shaun hill is a safe QB, but he dosent have the built in expirience and integraty that the 49ers need for rhe QB position. Alex Smith is a more complete player, he has a great college carrier, and was begining to grow a few years back, remeber that he was never benched because he played bad, but because of an injery that forced him to miss practialy the whole 2007 season, now things are different under singletary, the team is building interaty and now is the best chanceto exploit Alex Smith.

not only that but he's had 4 different offensive coordinators in the 4 years he's been in the league and now he has his 2nd head coach so that mixed with injuries makes it tough. I do think smith is better than what ppl give him credit for...but from what I've seen (I'm a big 49ers fan and have been since I was a kid) hill seems to be the better all around qb and gives the 9ers the best chance to win. look how he stepped it up against the vikings when gore went down..two killer passes to vd

Alex Smith is the biggest QB bust since Ryan Leaf and Tim Couch. Smith had his chance. His first season was garbage, but he was a rookie so we gave him that. His second season the 49ers went 9-7 but he had Frank Gore that carried the team on his back with1600+ yards for the season. Alex Smith still had 16 TDs and 16 INTS which is not very good. Then he fucked up his throwing arm and was basically out for 2 seasons. So i say let Hill start the whole season, at least he is 7-3 as a starter.

i want Alex to get one more chance, i think he can at least be what Trent Dilfer was for the Ravens, the guy who can do enough. I mean with Patrick Willis running wild on the other side of the ball that's all we need. don't get me wrong, I want another Steve Young or Joe Montana to come along, but I dont think Shaun or Alex can do that. 11 of Smith's interceptions came when he was a rookie at the very young age of 21. He went from 1 td and 11 interceptions to 16 tds and 16 ints in his second year, when he was still very young. So he improved a great deal in only a year and he is still very young; i say give the guy a chance. its hard to be great when your team is bad, you're inexperienced, and you keep changing coaching staff.
