  • real hip hop ....

  • Pete Rock & CL Smooth is the only stuff I can listen to right after waking up

  • this song is better than troy

  • oc's born 2 live joint used the same sample

  • @hildegart True holmes, that oc joint is a fckin classic aswell

  • Putain ca a pas prit une ride. A conseiller en voiture pour une virée a la plage

  • Sounds a little like Paradise by LL Cool J and rising to the Top by Keni Burke!! Cool song!!

  • @alfredg6 Matter of fact Paradise sounds like this cuz it uses the same Keni Burke "Rising to the top" sample. This version is from the 90s and way better than Paradise even though I am a die hard fan of LL Cool J's music but Paradise....not really feelin' it. Back to the music, whoever dislikes this must've not grown up with 80's & 90's rap. This is why you fell in love with Hip Hop and not the artist!

  • This flow's insane!

  • urghhh it doesn't get better than PR & CL

  • Amazing grace when i face the great paper chase. And he says that line like its nothing... SHEESH

  • One of the greatest emcees to ever touch a mic...

  • the lyrical wordplay in this is crazy

  • As I cruise through all the oldies, the majority of comments blast the new age music and wish we could bring back old hip hop. Lets applaud Youtube for being an archive where our classic art can live on. All the music with no substance will soon pass, and we will be left with classics and new good music. Continue to bump this in your cars, cribs, parties, get togethers etc. Trust me, it will come back. The current state of hip hop is just a phase. Be patient my brothas and sistas!

  • this is hip hop ..

  • this song makes me happy

  • People that get upset from somebody liking a great video its okay. they'll dislike anything. it could be a video of michael jackson moonwalking while 2pac, biggie, big L, and eazy e are rapping, with louis armstrong doing a jazz sample for the chorus, with ?uestlove doing the drumbeat, produced by jesus himself. and it'd STILL be disliked. Haters i swear

  • @TheMexidorian Their not haters they just don't see what we see, and that's their fault.

  • its funny how hip hop came along way.from being unknown to being the most formidable foe the system confronted, but the counter strategy to discredit the massege of hip hop. Then came WEst cost Gangster rap, followed by that Jim crow or should I say Jimmy crack a cone.

  • This is the song, that inspired me to making beats. Thank you !

  • classic pete rock and cl!!!

  • this beat is same as LL cool j paradise . check it out

  • @mike1who1 The sample is Risin' To The Top by Keni Burke by the way. its pretty great. :) though I don't think paradise is good..

  • cant really get the same feel on protools.

  • Yo his flow is sick!

  • STRAIT CLASSIC!! I USED LISTEN 2 DIS EVERYDAY BAC IN DA DAYZ!! MISS MUZIK LIKE DIS 4 REAL!!

  • @carolina79ist Could not agree more, one of my absolute favourite tracks of all time, even though there are loads of others I like. 1 love, have a great exmas and a peaeful and happy 2012 :-)

  • pete fucking rock

    now,thas what i a call hip hop <3

  • what an album the main ingredient is!!! more kids need 2 start checkin 90's hip hop and stop listening 2 the shite that's in the charts, think that's the problem kids nowadays only hear whats popular & dont know hip hop was ever this good!

  • damn..i remember around this time 2 years ago when i was in the 8th grade i was just discovering all the amazing stuff. man. 8th grade was fun. i loved this song. my old account comment is probably in the bottom of the list by now hahaha

  • just love the flow of this track

  • @freedomland

Keepin it real with the vinyls.

  • i like best

  • same piano sample from O.C. Born 2 Live?

  • thats real hip hop it's remember me on tupac

  • If you were ever a 13 year old white boy hiding with a cd cassette with this song on constant loop on your headphones (cassette of course) can I get a thumbs up. If not... Ill be Reminiscing alone. Enjoy still.

  • dang. wish i was 13 when this came out. or 15. im 15 now

  • @DaOldSchoolRapLova96 I'm 31 now, I remember listening on headphones until I knew every word by heart. I'm not going to say that there is nothing good coming out now, but it was a different time for sure. If I'm not mistaken Smooth is still putting out music.

  • it s 4.38 am and alll i can think of is whyy 11 people dislike this... & i'm trippin ma ballz off HERE 8

  • Damn.....memories

  • I have been trying to find out for years who the girls are doing the vocals, as it adds a really special flavour to the track. Was talking to an acquaintance recently who said he does not like rap music, anyways this track is my ring tone, and when he heard my phone ring, his immediate question was, ''wow, who is that'' ha ha. Absolute classic, and it's a track that is so good it is still very current considering it's going on 17 years old. 1 love.

  • @micljnes the vocals at the chorus are by Crystal Johnston, I believe :)

  • @EvePattinson Hey you, thanks for the info, and I must admit I am astounded as she is also the voice behind another track I recently found after a search of many many years. If you check out my channel, the track I speak of is featured. Many thanks and have a great xmas, and a peaceful and happy 2012 :-)

  • Putain ça tue !

  • How Can You Dislike This???????? WTF is wrong with these haters???

  • @gtroddy psychopats

  • @gtroddy i think they do it just so they can be that guy that actually did it..??

  • pant wettingly good tune, takes me back so far.

  • screw how old you are just love the music

  • in 2011 i bought this LP;)

  • You young cats surely missed out BIG TIME!!

    HAHAHAHAH

  • I'll probably catch some flack for this but i think "The Main Ingredient" was better than "Mecca and the Soul Brother". Their first album was classic but i think that in the 2 years between these albums they really improved on their already perfect skills. This is by far my favorite hip-hop album of all time. Its perfect, one of the few albums of any genre i can listen to straight through without skipping ANY songs.

  • @ryanwebberfgcu I agree. I recently purchased it and it's amazing.

  • reminds me of a chick i use to twist out in the bronx....car clean, fresh cut,

fresh gear, sunroof open, and system BLASTIN' THIS.

  • 10 people weren't taken there

  • i was born in 93 and i would burn down my whole money to live for one day 10years earlier to feel such kind of hip hop feeling in the most of the streets =)

  • nice post men, i had that luck

    best time ever !

  • @dukaschsaifachni where are you from? i agree!!

  • @dukaschsaifachni i love the way they dance to the music

  • @dukaschsaifachni me too man!

  • One of my top 20 favorite songs EVER. #amazing #Imissthe90s #realhiphop

  • didnt ll cool j steal this

  • @scootertharper he used the same sample

  • @HighGravity777 which one came out first

  • Cant get any sicker, this is the real shit

  • hell to the yea

  • "If you need me baby I'm forreallll, rest of your life I'll take you to paradise" nice track LL and Amerie, but nothing is better than the original!

  • @alexanderocks yeh man get it done

  • i'm born in 1864, 147y old, and that's pretty amazing blahblahblah.

  • peace to the kings

  • yea you cant really fuk with 90's hip hop -the good shit still out there but yes i hate to say it -its in the underground...

  • I don't give a fuck when you were born.

  • @RealHipHopSucks93 STFU son!!! Sounds like you were born after 1995 and like today's BS w/that autotune and trap muzik!! Yo don't know the mean of REAL hip-hop from the 80s-early 2000s.

  • @Jtownprice Check his name....

  • @RealHipHopSucks93 fuck you,why even look this up if you apparently hate real music you pussy ass bitch

  • @RealHipHopSucks93 Ur dad is a rapist that rapes ur tight asshole everynight ha ha ha Lame Mark

  • Yeah this was when rap wasn't so microwavable. Lot of the music back then had substacnes. Now days raps music is like fast food, ready made bullshit. I remember when rap had a message rather the message was to stop the violence or it was to simply take pride. The point is there was a message that was being conveyed it's like a cell phone.................., signal lost

  • @sav702 ^^this man got metaphors for dayyyyyyyyys

  • @sav702 Yeah rap these days is all about money, cash, hoes. Its also being done in a very corny way. But the new generation of kids don't want messages. They just wanna party and escape reality all the time,.

  • @sav702 your a deep guy i like it.

  • 10 people never been taken there damn !!

  • Shit, i'm 1996 born, all I listen to is this, so not all of us are fucked up.

  • I just wish I was born 10 years earlier. I listen to a lot of new shit for which some of you would probably diss the hell out of me, but I think not all modern music is crap. there are a few gems out there, I just didn't see/hear any of them on the TV/radio yet.

  • How u dislike this? smh soul-less lifeless waste of skin!!!

  • Miss that REAL hip-hop from the 80s-early 2000s :(!! I'm 23 and this is the real stuff I like and NOT much of today's!!

  • Real hooks, Real Lyrics, Real beats, no auto tune bulls#@t. Real HIP HOP. RIP HIP HOP, WE MISS U!!!

  • I can't stand the s*it on the radio these days, it's not real music..

I'm a 94 baby and been listening to pete rock and all the other real hip- hop artist ever since<3

  • I remember this year best year ever in hip hop atribe call quest had just drop 3cd, common had just resurrection and krs-1 had drop boom bap, but just when thought hip hop could get no better jeru, nas, blackmoon all drop cds and remixes and respectively...93 and 94 was best years in hip hop ever.

  • remember rapper had skills and smooth voices! Even rappers with skills today have wack voices such as em his voice so irritating I can never get thru a whole album.

  • True representatives of the domain known as talent & flow. I miss these guys.

  • Nothing like the late '80-early '90s hip-hop. From Rakim, KRS-ONE & BDP, to Mic Geronimo, Black Moon, Common, Nas, Nine, EPMD, WU, Blazay, PE...........I could go on for days! I'm a 70's baby(Go Brooklyn/Flatbush), so I truly got to experience the "GOLDEN AGE" of hip-hop. Today's hip-hop is VERY UNFAMILIAR to me. As Common stated, "I used to love H.E.R."

  • How can you dislike this song? Shits crazy.

  • NOT even 1,000,000 views....Ohh, Where da fuck is all the hiphop heads?

  • @freedomland11 i understand your frustration but you gotta realize Hip hop is like a child with toys....it moves on to new and more exciting things but eventually it'll come back and Pete Rock & C.L.Smooth are classic hit makers. Im sure you know Reminisce is played even STILL to this day aint no Lil Wayne gonna be played 20 years from now but Reminisce was even in video games back in 2010 keep your head up im with you on this one

    Peace

  • @freedomland11 unfortunately there all at the young money concerts listening to that weak shit

  • another one of favourites from hip hops golden era/ CL going on sick on this tune :)

  • One of the best songs by my favorite duo -- Pete Rock and CL Smooth. True beats with enlightened rhymes. This is the heart and soul of Hip-Hop.

  • @alexanderocks Pretty much! "All souled out", "Mecca And The Soulbrother" and "The Main Ingredient"

  • Battle physically, conquer mentally...

  • this sample is very similar to oc's born 2 live, am i right?

  • @Collinsinho yeah, they have the same sample! They both came out the same year.

  • supa classic!!

  • one of the best rap records ever, no doubt

  • 6 people don't know how to go there

  • @agenecrobiosis Word

  • I think Pete Rock is second only to DJ Premier. Then the RZA, and then Hi-Tek

  • @return2hiphop nah my personal favorites are dilla & pete rock, and then comes primo..

  • I am in my 20's and I find todays rap and hiphop music a disgrace. No creativity.

  • @runhorun Nah you just gotta look UNDERGROUND!

  • @runhorun Good music still lives, you just gotta find it. Pete Rock is still giving out dope, just an example that matches the Video.
