The only time I'd use a back throw is if I needed to ultimate the disc. In that sense, this video helps a bit. Not to mention as just a random trick throw, they serve their purpose just fine.

back throws are more of a trick throw. Of you're playing against a defender who doesn't know what's going on you can trick them really easily with this throw and you can feel like you're a badass if you complete it.

just because you call it a back throw, it doesnt make it any less useless. Why throw a blind throw when you can use your pivot foot and turn towards your target...

that's the whole point. they are back throws, not forward. although not used very often, i have seen them used to some benefit; like those fancy passes people do all the time in basketball.
