  • I just invested in one of these trees last year its an orginal 1954 pom pom tree i just didnt get the tree turner and color wheel i think im going to get it this week its so pretty when it turns and lights up....got on ebay...came its orginal 1954 box...i got it for 120 dollars now its going for 300 dollars...i might put it back on ebay but its so so pretty i dont want to but up for auction....

  • Now it makes sense why it was so hard to assemble my wheel. I have an original Penetray color wheel. I do not have those metal clips for mine. Any leads or ideas on where I could get those clips?

    Thanks, Mark

  • Those clips are easy to lose - you can lay those pieces face down and glue em together. Check ebay for another complete color wheel - you can never have too many - I've got 3 or so. It took years for me to complete my collection. And don't forget the tree turner - it makes a big difference. Christmas will be here soon.

  • I have searched for years for a stainless steel pom pom Christmas tree. I was lucky enough to find a gently used 7.5 footer 144 branch tree on Craigslist for quite the bargain. My Aunt used to have one of these when I was a kid and I swore one day I would have one. I will say, the original color wheel was quite trying to assemble, I still don't know if I have it together right. It works but it seems like a terrible design to assemble without the help of someone else. Pom Pom's ROCK!!! =)

  • I hope you got your color wheel spinning ..... The great thing about Christmas is that it comes back around every year. FYI: there's some long metal clips that connect the plastic color pieces together that form the circle, and also 2 washers that hold the plastic colored circle on to the spinning stem

  • Thank you for the video. I put up a vintage 6 foot aluminum tree this year for the first time - it was my grandma's. My grown kids and their friends thought it was the best Christmas tree ever.

  • Fun!

  • Thanks for posting this. I grew up with one of these trees and the color wheel.

  • Mama died October 07 and for all of the years, we had a beautiful tree just like this. Your video took me back in my mind. It was exactly like watching mama do it for us kids. I am 54 yrs. old. Thank you for being a person thoughtful enough to post such a beautiful video to some of us out here. To some it may be kooky, but as you see on your post, us baby boomers LOVED IT! WOW..thanks again.

  • No it's not kooky at all! Xmas back then meant a lot more than it does now. As kids in the 60-70's we learnt not to ask for much, and any little we got was something big and fascinating! Now that I'm a mother, it seems that nothing is the way it was. I'm glad we have such a thing called MEMORY. Thanks again for making some of us smile after so many years.

  • Next time some youngsters start trying to diss your aluminum tree, remind then that unlike real or plastic trees, aluminum ones are made from eco-friendly and recyclable materials. :)

  • Looking at your video you reminded me of our xmas tree back in the 60's - 70's. We then switched to green!

They sure were the good old days

  • I couldnt have said it better!

  • Looking for an aluminum christmas tree? Try ebay - watch it for awhile and you'll see plenty of stuff... tree turners, and color wheels .... Vintage ornaments too! All these elements are important to complete the look. It will take awhile to find everything you need, so start early. Thrift stores and swap meets have alot of stuff right after Halloween. Anyway it took me years to amase my collection, and I always keep my eyes open for more. Good luck and have fun.

  • I should probably get an awesome rotating stand for my aluminum Christmas tree. It is so rockin'.

  • Great vid! Tip: 1.Get several colors of paint 2.Group branches by size 3) Paint same-size branches with the same color of paint 4)change colors for the next size branch and repeat. Setting up my try is so much easier. Check out the vid of my tree!

  • Very pretty and retro!

  • thanks for this we had one when i was a kid i have fond memories of pulling the branches from the sleeves and handing them to my parents to be put on the tree

  • I prefer it at 500 rpm...

  • Wonderful video!! I love your Christmas tree!

  • So simple yet elegant. I love mine!
