Hi Beleive it or not it was with a Nokia N70 camara phone taped to the screen. I now have a small sport cam and if you attach it as near to the screen as possible it is out of the wind and you get the full sound of the bike with no wind noise
I'm happy to say I'm the new owner of this bike!! (cheers Terry).Bought it in june 2010 and I absolutely love. Had a standard exhaust on when i bought it but soon junked that for a triumph hi livel off road pipe, got it remapped and now its sounds awesome again.
@funkinel Yeah!!!!! I think I'd give my left nut for my bike to sound like that!!!!! Sounds a lot like a v12 powered exotic car to me. Wonderful!!!!!!
I owned a T595 and would buy another if I had the means.
The best sound I found was not the top end, but whacking the throttle open full from really low revs, such as you have pulling away from a junction in the video, and getting that low resonance like a Merlin
It's picked up in your video that others miss in theirs.
Simply compare the free ride in the few moments to the ridicolous speed entering the tunnel at 1.25......you'll have the idea of what is having the ass over a Triple..I just went from a 600 Km trip around 7 Big Hills around italy and France, what a day, men !! The hearth of my t595 pumping over those slopes till 2700 meter over the sea....Nobody could stand a chance ( many, many bikes I met there...;)
sorry but dont agree. I had a very bad accident with this bike because under acceleration the front made shiming every time. However, with a stearing dumper should be ok, the brakes are amazing. But RSV with ohlins is a diferent story...
lol the ohlins on my RSV were knackered, I had my yoke and rear shock sorted by the late, great, James Campbell Wilson, and his work gave me the confidence to even run a trailing front brake if i got into trouble, but he never fitted a steering damper. Whatever, that's my experience, anyway.
Just watched the video and it reminds me of what I am missing. In Nov '08 I hit a car in the dark coming towards me on my side of the road as I crested a dip in the road on my 955. Miraculously I swerved and hit the car scraping down the drivers side AND stayed on! Well, for a few seconds I did until the back end came round and down we both went, sliding down the road. My poor bike is a write off. Happy ending though, I am getting a new 675 in March.
I'm on my second Daytona now - an '06 with the high pipe - like this, the best sound a bike ever made! It's not just the induction roar that's fantastic but the pipe howl and the cam gear whine. The Aston Martin of bikes!
yep they do sound nice ive had mine for 2 yrs now and just converting it to a speed triple one mod you may find interesting is to change the front sprocket to a 17 tooth its brilliant makes the bike so much quicker on take off and more ridable in town its worth a try for about £10 I guarantee you will love it.
I own a Triumph Sprint RS from 2000 and the sound is just like it. (The register says Triumph Daytona 955i)
I used to ride a BMW K75S '92 but this is the best thing I have bought in a long time. The feeling when accelerating is just awesome, nothing like it and I absolutely fell in love with the bike!
i bought an 07 plate 955i 2 months ago.must have been one of the last made.fitted carbon scorpion can and it sounds awesome.there`s nothing like the sound of a triumph triple on full chat! i bought it after watching this video! superb piece of british engineering.
Nice vid. Great sound. To those only watching it's hard to describe the feeling in your chest as that beautful triple sound howls in real life. The vid doesnt do it justice. Nothing like it.
Hi there my friend went to the reunion down Brighton other week, talking to the guys on the triumph stand, they say their is not going to be a new replacement for the 955,as the market is to fierce, and is quite saturated by the big 4,so we will have to wait.. long live the 955 eh...!!
I have a 98 Dautona 955, do you know if your engine is the same as mine? sounds AMAZING! mine has K&N filter, remapped ecu, 140 hp and a Sebring exhaust.
Go for the newest model you can afford from 2002 onwards, dont buy 01-02 as they have the normal swing arm. the bikes up to 01 have single side and then 02-06 have single side.
go for it you will love it I have had mine for 2 yrs and put 20,000 miles on it and it still puts a smile on my face.
what tyres have you tried any thing you would recomend I have used bridgestone BT020
and at the moment on Avon Azaro which I find to be brilliant both for grip and life I am getting at least a 1000 miles more out of the Avons even with the hard times I give my tyres.
I run 120/190 Pilot Powers. Very confidence inspiring. I've used to use a 180 rear but may stick with the 190 since I just like the way it feels - more predictable turn-in and, theoretically, more grip.
love this Triple sound since I was a kid. I used to say, once I grow up I do own one. Loved the Triple Sound in the late 70`s of LAVERDA and even the heavy XS 750 bricks by YAMAHA. Now becoming grey and bald hair, I did it! Got me a wellshaped, used black SpeedTriple (early Carb. Version T300). I do a little maintenance at the carbs with new jets and needles, `cause their worn out. Can`t wait to fire it up again. Good luck for you and your British Breed Triple from Germany.
I have now done 11,000 miles on my daytona and I still find the sound adictive. if you look at my video showing my bikes you will see I also had a yamaha XS 750 tripple, it was my first big bike. Thanks Terry
as I see we have more than this in common. I also do some motocross/Enduro and had several KTMs. Until now I still own a KTM EXC 520 beside the Speed Triple and a BMW R1100GS. But instead of the early years I have a big lack of sparetime now. Back then it was a lack of money indeed but filled with dreams about having a triple. From 94-2007 I only rode offroad, but now I`m back on the street with my Triumph.
when you put the race can on you wont beleive the difference. its a different bike, it will pick up faster, rev cleaner, and accelerate very quickly. mine has removable baffles so you can keep it legal when you want to. its still better than standard with the baffles in.
Thanks 99erTona, this was just a quick blast to try out the phone camara I will post a decent vid in the summer, also I have just fitted a Carbon fibre Scorpion can with removable baffles which sounds great.
Thanks,I always loved the sound of them when they first came out. So after 7 years without a bike due to having children it was always going to be a Daytona for my next bike and the wait was well worth it. so if any one is in doubt wether to buy one or not just buy it and smile forever.

Thank you for the complement, but beleive me these bikes handle far better than we can push them,
what tyres are you using, I have Michelin pilot power 2CT and the grip is fantastic. I have also used the pilot road 2CT
Avons and Bridgestones let go a bit in the corners.
but sadly the Triumph has now gone after doing 60,000 miles and have now got an R1. but I do miss the sound of my Trumpet.
Cheers Terry

Pity the image wasn't clearer and un-watermarked.

do you prefer the single side swing arm? some bike websites i have been looking at recon the double is better and lighter, great vid by the way!
MITCHWILD 3 years ago
well I think in truth the double arm is more stable but I think the single looks best.
and the only way you may find any limits would be on the track with a proffesional rider giving it big guns
