A good example of martial arts used as spectacle and not as it should be. While her movements were obviously well practiced her stances were, as my sensei would say, "no good." The music and the screaming take away from the art, IMHO.

I think she is very talented and as she develops, I hope she will find a style with a little bit more traditional thinking.

Thinking traditionally isn't always best. While a lot of the time quick subtle movements are the best, other times a move that has a lot a flair can do equally well if not better. Because this is show, the pausing, in my opinion, and excessive yells were to put emphasis on that particular strike or group of strikes. But even for real combat, exhaling air releases power, so when striking or being struck it can mean a great deal. And that yelling would intimidate others. I don't wanna fight her.

Lauren Kearney is very talented with staff, and has very unique tricks with the staff and has such intensity too.

Spectakular. I'm a huge martial arts fan. I'm a bit into XMA (Tricking) and now Starting to practise the bo manipulation.

BUT I don't like the screaming. It's to long and loses effect in my opinion.
