always impressive to me how many influences schnittke absorbs and fuses into his own unique voice. echoes of all the great masters ( i hear bartok's divertimento in the string section around 10 minutes)... what a compelling performance! bravo! and thank you!

Спасибо большое за видео. Но, если честно, качество звука оставляет желать лучшего. И тот диссонанс, который, возможно, не понравился omgtkseth, вызван именно низким качеством записи, т.к. в записи на CD он делает концерт живым и объёмным. Динамика звука на видео тоже совсем не ощущается:( А вообще, этот концерт, на мой взгляд, - одно из лучших произведений у Альфреда Шнитке.

I usually like Schnittke a lot but sometimes his dissonance is used in this way, in which it can only be used in a pessimistic fashion. As if dissonance could only be ugly, as if he used dissonance aiming to make ugly sounds.

Or at least its what I get, when I compare it to, say, Stravinsky...
