MrRobertsJameson, I thought for one delicious moment I was coresponding with James Robertson Justice, but, obviously from the crass comment, an obvious nonentity.
What a load of shit, the greatest actor of his generation, obviously pissed trying to say he is not a drinker, he was an alcoholic, no ifs or buts, he wasted his talents in mediocre films to feed Liz's insatiable desire for worldly goods, Burton, you deprived the world of a great talent because of that Hollywood nurtured bitch, but there again, Who's afraid of........, well what a great film, especially from Liz, if you both had retired gracefully would we have been as interested?
@RichardElden You can't tell the difference between "there being protests" and there being a ban, and you can't tell the difference between that and funding a regime. Your comments wishing man to be dead are profoundly twisted and unpleasant, and set you beyond the pale of anyone with a modicum of humanity posting here.
@RichardElden That is far from amounting to what is implied by "funding the apartheid regime", which would mean actively propping it up with his own funds.
That's even if if it were true, but there there was no ban at the time The Wild Geese was filmed.
Probably the most frank interview I have ever seen of Burton's. When he spoke of Elizabeth Taylor, you could actually see in his eyes how much he stilcared for her and then he had to stop speaking of her. Never saw him this vulnerable or open about his drinking. I was a fan of his back when he had this awful brush with extreme alcoholism, but I was a kid then and didn't realize the seriousness of his condition. Glad he backed away from the precipice.
@RichardElden Mate, why don't you try laying off the Ritlin and finding a girlfriend. You're repeating yourself (You've said that on other threads). You're not even good at being shocking.
@LaSerpentaCanta The Burton interview was filmed just after he split from Liz for the last time. The interview was filmed in the daytime because Burton feared an evening interview would make him start drinking again (He had just dried out) Notice Burton and Parkie are both wearing casual clothes because it wasn't a usual interview. Sadly he didn't stay on the wagon.
brilliant!! he doesnt pussy foot around with pc health concious crap but talks about alcaholism intellegently and objectively and not as if booze is bad.

Alchoholism is a terrible thing, and Hollywood was full of it in Richard's day.
