Pavarotti had a monumental voice, a class in its own.
JDF is an excellent tenor still in his prime and interpretes the very same aria to absolute perfection, as if his voice was made just for that song. Please do not make comparisons!
@zurriussII I agree, I know the track you are going down on this. You really can't compare the two voices. You may prefer one over the other, but they both sing it to darn near perfection in their interpretations.
@zurriussII Florez sounds more stable in the high C's and has better stacatos while Pavarotti goes up to reach the C from a little below. Of course Pavarotti has great interpretation of the song. no mean to mock him. just wanted Florez to be recognized for his good skills.
@mauriciomille You act as if the man was a god. He had a great lyric voice. But when he made ventures into lighter rep such as this, there were clear flaws in his technique. His portamento is very noticeable. Also, he's crushing the c's. When I listen to JDF, its so easy and perfect. JDF's duke or arnold from guillaume tell don't hold a candlelight to pavarotti's.
@skykky completly true dude, i dont know who dislike twice, but no one above the king. I heard bocelli's version and were crithics for him, how could they dare to do that?.... I know that bocelli couldnt do what pavarotti did, but really sounds great too, dont you think???
I agree with zurriussll, although I've seen/heard many sing this aria and most do it superbly, NO ONE ever sang it as well as Luciano. Especially the last C into the finish. RIP Luciano, I hope to hear you again someday, in person!
i personally do not like this one, i have a way better recording of it and it sounds like his later years, the third high c sounds almost like he's cracking, very strained. although the last c is incredible.
@MezzoCanto they went amazing :D ... and now...im studying at the Medical college and as well on the conservatory - at the finalist of Pavarotti competition - and i am a tenor :D weiiii...
Wow, I have listen to this area performed by many tenors, but no one can do it as the MAN HIMSELF, compared to him, the other tenors seem to fail, in rithem, high notes or fullenss of the voice. I love you MAN!!! This is just enchanting! GRAZIE LUCIANO, SEMPRE!
he sounds ore labored in this clip than other recordings I've heard. He most likely was not in the best of voice for this. So this is Pavarotti on a so so day. How many people can claim to sing like this on their best?

just for this aria, I think Juan Diego Florez can sing better than Pavarotti.

@mauriciomille Honestly no one can't compare Bocelli to Pavarotti. It's not fair. Pavarotti had a natural gift uncomparable with anyone else.

J'aime beaucoup l'interprétation de Pavarotti, la diction est bonne, contrairement à Chris Merritt, comme je le regrette ce cher Luciano .

It's not forbidden to hear Rockwwell BLAKE singing 10 top C ( 3 at the end ) instead of the 7 printed in the partition.
