When I listen to Aenima I think of blues and, blue greens and water and I love it. When listening to Lateralus I think of space and the color purple, and grey, thats awesome too. On a closing note I think its awesomr that you can actually percieve color, from the tones of music. You should get into art.

Where most people lack in common sense, undeniable fact of why they overanalyze and try to pull out an omen of the song. I think Maynard said in an interview that the fans represent artists in their own way and are free to interpet anyway they choose.

@lilrocker1053 I think they'd rather be compared to king Crimson. Even though KC blows them outta the water. Maynard admitts to ripping them off. KC actually is a mix of the sounds of FLOYD and Zepplin but way more experimental.
@acesonfire Good is understatement. King Crimson invented the Primus and Tool sound. That sludgy grungey rock. KC invented that. Also the Primus sound. And others lke Sonic Youth. Ppl think grunge derived from punk. Yes a lot of it did but KC mixed those sounds wayyy before. KC is considered the first prog-rock band (1969) but have mixed with everything.
Get " In The Court of The Crimson King" their debut. Listen and learn. " RED" is another one. they have like 10 albums

Tool could definitely be considered to be the Pink Floyd of our generation. I was born in 86 so bare with me on this one. I can definitely see the similarities in there live performance as they both take there time and enjoy reinterpreting there songs as a whole to allow there audiences to become one with the music instead of simply re-experiencing it. Comparing the live recordings from the Salival (2000) cd to the Pulse (1995) cd. There are distinct similarities.
As PF do, Tool is a psychedelic show as well... they don't even play under a psychedelic "label" but those who are on psy stuff know that Tool is a PURE LSD PSYCHEDELIC TRIP AND MUSIC !

Unlike most of you guys I was actually at this show, and I thought it was really boring. My friend liked it, but of course most tool fans have this feeling of "higher being" at Tool concerts, as Maynard is so fucking wasted on acid that he doesn't even realize he's playing a concert and basically just whines random sentences that fans somehow consider deep. Fans like him also like to think that the lyrics have a deep spiritual meaning only they can comprehend, which is hilariously pathetic.

Tool is to be more considered as a Modern Day Led Zeppelin than Pink Floyd. They even give a hint by playing some of Zeppelin's songs.

@acesonfire Good is understatement. King Crimson invented the Primus and Tool sound. That sludgy grungey rock. KC invented that. Also the Primus sound. And others lke Sonic Youth. Ppl think grunge derived from punk. Yes a lot of it did but KC mixed those sounds wayyy before. KC is considered the first prog-rock band (1969) but have mixed with everything.
Get " In The Court of The Crimson King" their debut. Listen and learn. " RED" is another one. they have like 10 albums

@cellardoor199991 also...if nobody has heard it....listen to KC's Larks tongue in Aspic #2......great example of an early grunge guitar sound. Fripp used a lot of fuzz and has endless sustain on his guitar. Fripp is god. Adam Jones looks up to him.
Kurt Cobain also worshipped KC's Red. Connect the dots.

@acesonfire Check the live version of EASY MONEY on youtube. That song is a kick in the nuts.KC went thru several line-ups. That one is my fave. The singer/bass is John Wetton and the drummer is Bill Bruford. Fripp is the guitarist and david cross is mellotron/violin guy

Tool could definitely be considered to be the Pink Floyd of our generation. I was born in 86 so bare with me on this one. I can definitely see the similarities in there live performance as they both take there time and enjoy reinterpreting there songs as a whole to allow there audiences to become one with the music instead of simply re-experiencing it. Comparing the live recordings from the Salival (2000) cd to the Pulse (1995) cd. There are distinct similarities.
