@loftpigeon Actually, I think the babies would have something to do with the coming apocalypse. You need to remember that scene where the "Angel of Death" saves Hellboy's life by removing the spear end from his gut. Forshadowed the shit out of that one.

I agree, the movie was good. The ectoplasm guy is Johann Kraus, he is from BPRD. Mike MIgnola said in an interview that Hellboy has an end that is gonna come in a few years.

The Hellboy punch rules! What I dislike is how weaksause Abe is. Abe has survived some of the most devistating injuries and has defeated a lot of enemies on his own. We hardly ever see him fight.

@blowshimselfupdude I personally love the hellboy films but I have never picked up the comics because I have no clue where to start, would you be able to give me a recomendation on a good book I can pick up to start reading?

a) Seed of the Destruction. Its the first book in the series and its like perfect tv pilot.

b) Right Hand of Doom. Great jumping on point and character study.

Greedo's shooting scene is so small, it hardly contributes to the plot. And I also do not see how Ansolo's a coward for beating Greedo.

I know George Lucas does go on locations in the prequels, the desert scenes and the panmay's place. I heard this from the "Discovery & Travel" channel a few times where GL mentions this.

WEll Episode 1 did have some. And then in episode two they went back to were they originally shot I belive. But that's it.

Also in Ep.3. However, CM mentions that all these do not match up to the older movies, although GL has modernised the older movies and much better. Older movies provide some nostalgia and CM likes this.

What? No way. He's really screwed up the old movies. Greedo shoots first my ass. and the two trilogies don't match up at all. Greevous alone creats so many plot holes it's not even funny.

Sorry, what I meant was, fans of CM are like Britney's paparazi, always on her heels, trying to get "bad" news, to criticize. I see this in the same light for George Lucas. Its okay not to have a webcam, but do not grudge George Lucas for his CGI.

No I don't go looking for "bad news" from Lucas. I think Lucas is a great ideas man. Not a good writer. It's why the Indiana Jones movies are written better then star wars. And I actually like KOTCS.

But his rediculas over use of CG is embarassing. They don't look real. And he doesn't shoot on locations. He doesn't even fully assamble sets. He just makes half sets and throws green screen on it. He's a bad writer and director.

I saw the first one, and thought it was descent, But it also got me into the comics, because I simply liked the character. But the only story I read is the first one "Seed of destruction", which was also pretty descent. Does it capture "The essence of the Hellboy comics"?

Personally I feel Seed of Destruction is the weakest of the stories. And the dialouge is a little flat (Mike didn't actually write that one he only plotted it).

I'd say that vol. 1,2, and 5 are the ones tha tprobably the first movie drew it's insperation from. While Hellboy II didn't really draw story insperation but style insperation. From pretty much all the Hellboy folklore stories. Both movie represent the comics very well. Just diffrent aspects of the comics.
