@wish4moretime Not just the tripod (though keeping the sun unmoving in the frame helps IMMENSELY insofar as keeping one's eye on it) but I think the camera's placement, too: those rocks 'cradled' the very tip of the sun, blocking the rest of the dying sun and any light that might otherwise have obscured the flash.
@ArcadianRefugee Thanks so much for your comments..in fact, I just placed my camera on the edge of the jetty, and I was so lucky that the person kept in frame the whole time...Andy:)
That was a beautiful green flash, thanks so much for posting it I hope to see one myself one day, though living far from the sea I doubt if I ever will...
My wife and i saw the green ray at Aruba several years ago on a Caribbean cruise holiday. We had hoped to see it, as we love the film The Green Ray/Summer (by Eric Rohmer), watched out every evening, then the last evening, when we'd pretty well given up hope, it happened- and 2 other couples we were with saw it. It was like a bright emerald flash, brief but unmistakeable, at the very last moment before the sun dips. We've not seen it before or since- perhaps the Caribbean is a good spot for it?
i saw a green flash near my home at Marigot bay (STL)the last time recently! my dad always use to tell me about it but that is the first time i actually saw it live!
Wow! That is amazing. Fabulous video. We are spending 2 wks in the Caribbean in June. I hope we are fortunate enough to see the green flash once while we are there!
I've never seen such a beautiful sun set.
It is said that your wish comes true when you see this.isn't it?
I' d like to see it some day.
Oh, It is not my wish to see it.

I'm hoping that sometime I'll be able to see it in real life... I looked for it here, because I wondered what it looked like.

Well done. I wonder if the foreground jagged horizon helped to accentuate the green on the video?
