For the longest time, I wasn't sure why I associated nightlife with a sunglassed moon-head. Then I came upon this video, and I was instantly transported back to the mid-80's, when my 4-year-old self saw these commercials and first got the idea that a nightlife actually existed after I went to bed. It was a surreal revelation to watch this again.

There was another Mac Tonight commercial from the 80s.

Mac was standing on a rooftop, leaning against the side of a big neon McD's sign.

He was playing a harmonica, the Mac the Knife song; no other background music. He stopped, and this time he just spoke - no singing. He plugged a special offer from McD's, and when finished, he grabbed the harmonica again from out of the air - and took up playing the melody again.
