Anything that's heavier than air isn't good for you. Same thing as that spray air that people breathe in and they sound the same. It settles in the bottom of your lungs and takes up all the room that O2 would be taking. You'll asphixiate if you do it too much.

it's not about sound traveling slower or faster. From what I recall, the reason helium causes high pitched voices is because your vocal chords can vibrate faster, because helium is less dense than air. The reverse applies for this.
