Now that America has proven that they can correct their past mistakes in this dramatic way.
I believe that we (the slighted people of the world), should see it in our hearts to forgive the 'excesses' of the past 8 years and give this country touched by God himself a second chance.
I call on those who have suffered as a result of these 'excesses' from Central America, to Gaza and from the slums of Africa to Pakistan to do the same.

Saw him singing this live at the Concert for Lanmine Free World in Edinburgh in 2003, the day he wrote it. It was at a show with Steve Earle, Joan Baez and Chrissie Hynde. Fantastic.
