There are some synthetic surfaces out there that are rougher on your blades than others. The most important aspect is if the owner of the ice is keeping it clean (vacuumed and free of dirt) and lubricated (silicone or whatever they use). If those variables are met, then it does not destroy your blades. Over the 10 years I have been skating on synthetic, I average sharpening my skates every 1-2 months at 4-6 hours a day of skating. This new ice does not need lubricant
i noticed that when the goalie was sliding he didnt move as well as he wouldve on normal ice. other then that it looks like normal ice but with puzzle piece edges
While the gap between real ice and synthetic ice will never be bridged, this is by far the fastest (and closest feel to real ice) as we have ever experienced. One has to skate on this to really appreciate the speed.
This is the latest synthetic ice from Europe. We were contacted to 'beta' test it. It's a legitimate self- lubricated (no need for spray on lubrication...ever!) synthetic ice. We are going to replace all of our existing rink with it. Can you say.......fast! Call us if you have more questions. 847.688.9966

@NationXuG No knob gobbler, he doesn't. People who do the one foot stop do so because they don't know how to stop properly with two skates.
