Is grabbing the wide receiver's jersey concidered pass interference? get back to me on this because it seemed that Thad Turner was grabbing the recievers jersey quite a bit, I wanna try this on my homecoming game tomorrow but I'm worried I'll get a pass interference.....
can u put up a video of receivers cutting inside like on a slant or drag route? thats where i have trouble with because outside releases aren't that difficult to defend compared to inside ones
if im in cover 3 playing about 7 yards off. should i focus on the quarterback in case i need to break down on the run or focus on my wide out or just play back looking at the two of them?
@22motivated when i play cover 3 i read the quarterback in his first 3 steps when he drops back. after that i focus on my wideout. since quarterbacks are all about 3 step games and 5 step games...after 3 steps...if he still hasn't thrown the ball...then the route will most likely be deep. as long as u keep backpedaling when looking at the QB u should be fine
@Justinle97 You are exactly right. Playing DB is one of the toughest positions on the field. It takes months of training and studying to even look good on the field. Not to mention, you have to be FAST, running a 4:40 isn't good enough any more. The best way to play corner, is to CHEAT, grab jersey, hold arms, punch the recievers legs while running. You have to stay physical.
How many holding penalties do you get called for in a game because that's all you seem to be able to do. The receivers look pretty weakass too... if you play press like that most good receivers will just swim past you and break for the slant/post.
@guruzen you're a joke clearly you never played the game this is what happens in a normal college football practice. Get up off your butt and try to do it.
@tgturner23 I can cover my receivers just fine without holding them. I do hand-check and shove but never grab their jerseys. The good strong receivers will pull my arm and shove me aside if I try this. Do I really need to be so aggressive?
so what if he is holding the jersey a little, in a real game the qb would have pressure and would not be able to throw the ball as accurate. if you've never done 1 on 1's from the db position you probably wouldn't understand how difficult it is to cover a receiver who has all of the field to work with and a qb who can sit in the pocket for as long as he wants to make a perfect throw. this is a great video also by the way
At 5:40 u played the ball but never turned ur head around to look for the ball. Thats a PI call, you also tend to hold the reciever too long, way past 5 yards, thats also a PI. Have in mind that I am just going into my Junior year in Highschool.
@GoldenEye196 sup buddy alot of high school guys like to turn and run after they look back at the qb.. what this college coner is showing you is the same but he knows and feel where the wrs is and making the play on the ball through the wrs which is not a pi cause he is playing the ball.. i coach in high school myself and its ok for you guys to be aggressive longs as you trying to make a play on the ball where you have the same right as the wr
dude all you do is hold the whole time. thats not good technique trust me. and if your were going against good receivers they would be killing you at the line because your feet are split and your base is too wide. The receivers you are going against are just terrible. Like if you are trying to help people at least no what you are doing first. And you clearly don't
u r my hero. im studying the cornerback position right now to prepare myself for next year. hopefully i make 2nd string at least for varsity. continue with the videos, they are great.
to all the people saying hes holding - refs wont call those as long as he stops when the ball is being thrown and gets his head around which he does. you can argue PI for a couple of the plays, but this guy is good. stop hating
@ppakj i totally agree with you.. it is kind of a 50/50 call with the refs holding down the field.. but he is a good cover corner.. i just like how he pulls the jersey instead of just his hands on their hips.. but i would def try to play like him
to all the people saying hes holding - refs wont call those as long as he stops when the ball is being thrown and gets his head around which he does. you can argue PI for a couple of the plays, but this guy is good. stop hating
This guy i really good i mean his technik is really good and his reads r reall nasty. He got a real nice plant and drive going. And i mean he turns and runs with the receivers like it aint nothing. The best thing i think is he gets his head around real quick.I like the delayed bump and run also known as catch technic and he shown a lil stab technik at the line too.I like him very much
At 1:08 you mention you're playing a certain type of technique, 'Ketch' Technique I think you said, in order to take 'away the leverage'. Can you explain what this technique is, how to perform it and what it aims to achieve?
yah uhh he looks good because hes trying to strip the other players jersey off with holding penatlys ,id be good to if i spazed all over the other player then knock the ball away
yah uhh he looks good because hes trying to strip the other players jersey off with holding penatlys ,id be good to if i spazed all over the other player then knock the ball away
What is that technique at 1:08? I think he called it the "catch technique." This is very interesting . I've used this against some wide receivers and I liked how it switched changed their inside route. I think it's interesting. I would like to know more about this technique. Including the name.
Amazing stuff, Im in gr 9 right now 130 pounds playing football for my first year in Junior Varsity and I play CB, Im getting burnt alot i read their hips and mirror what they do but I think im just not fast enough, any tips you could give me?
It seems that your really patient at the LOS and sound technique but I would recommend that you STOP HOLDING! If you would stop holding and use your speed you would not be in trail position. Also dont through the right hook at the line jus jab him up. Hitch and go break through the receiver he will collide with wont be able to get into his route. You nice though!
Amazing blue devil alumni. I wish the best of luck. I remember you nd brandon from my freshman yr @ MHS its nice to see my school mates doin big things.
He is far better in off coverage than press. If he wants to be a press corner, he has to stop tugging on people's jersey's and extending that arm. Thats a PI every time.
The receivers speed release on aggressive corners, just give a fake outside or in and turn shoulder at a 45 in the direction that you want to go, lean into him and make you break. You have to make corners use their feet to stay in front of you. When corners are playing off you have to stem your routes and then break, make him have use his hips to follow you, don;t run straight to him. Stem first fake second. Running an out stem him out then gradually roll out or stem in and break out.
everybody wants to cry about a little tug on the jersey as if playing DB isn't challenging enough, no wonder i dont like receivers, as long as he's not altering their routes a little tug doesnt hurt, only the ticky tack refs call that
@donmeister123 if u ever played corner u would know that u have to cheat on every play to be a good corner. the rules are made so that the db's get beat on every single good ball thrown, u need contact to better cover receivers. its about not getting caught, u cant be a litle bitch and never touch the receiver
hes reading the 3 step drop of the quarterback...for example if he sees the 3 step frm the quarterback they could be trying 2 run something short like a slant enabling the DB 2 jump the route
As a Db I admire you. You have a smooth Back petal and can flip your hips at ease. I also like how your feet never stop moving there always on a buzz. My highschool plays cover 2 and sometimes cover 3. I need more man to man Practice. I only practice it when we do 1 on 1 drills. If you have any advice plz let me kno/ Im a sophmore trying to go D1.
And do you know michael mitchell? My raiders got him in the 2nd round. He looks serious deffiently a head busser
At around 3:19 I have no idea what happened. The QB hadn't even committed to the three step but you jumped it. Either that is what the drill was on (meaning 3 step drops), you got lucky and guessed, or you saw something we didn't..?
Other than that, consider coaching. This was a very good video!
This is practice film so I go against these Wide outs and QBs everyday. Every1 has tendencies. And in that clip the QB always did the same thing when doing a 3 step from shotgun. Film Study helps alot. For example when i played against Central Michigan They tried to throw a hitch but i broke up before the QB did a 3 step. Dan Lefevur threw the ball away because he is a smart QB but in that case his Offensive Tackle gave a key everytime a 3 step route was called that i picked up threw film study
Yo if these videos are you guys, then you need to go thank your coaches. If you can keep developing, I don't care where you went to college (a "small" school) you will be starting in the NFL. Great video, you sound very intellegent, good luck.
@tt341305 yea this is a nice video, I mean Ohio doesnt really have the deepest talent pool but if you doin this type of shit against two and three star recruit recievers you havet to atleast be doin decent against the Dez Bryants and Arrelious Benns and golden Tate type recievers out there, good luck wit the draft maybe youll get picked up not too late in the draft
@tt341305 this is a very good video for people like me who inspire to become a better cornerback, i was wondering if you had any drills that you could recommend for improving footwork?
Great hips, Great feet, Great hands, Good technique..i dont know if thats what they teach yawl at OU, but if I had to critique you I would tell you to slide the feet back more on your press man only if your not on the goal line.. also when your coming out your break on a couple of them you where taking bad angles, but you still made a play on the ball which is the ultimate goal....keep up the good work..
but when do i have to play off man or press? and when to watch the qb's 3 steps how can i read the wr's rout, e.g. slat or comeback route. man i have so many questions. :D
ur nice bro but on a couple deff a pass interference lmfaoo u extand ur arm but good shit
