@shaman911 Thanks, Dishonored wasn't even on my radar. Looks very promising and maybe some Ideas from The Crossing will flow into it. There is little information about Dishonored though, and from what I see it's pretty different from crossing .. but we will have to see when they release more information :)

@DekenFrost That's only how I see it since I think they cancelled The Crossing. Arkane Studios is one of my favorite Developers even though they haven't made many games , but when they make one the first thing you see that it's very emersive , you can see your feet body and everything and move like a real person and not a camera moving forward without tilting even alittle. My favorite is Dark Messiah. :)

Arkane Studios is meanwhile owned by ZeniMax ( e.g. Bethesda softworks, ID Software) and was responsible for some of the awesome level design in Bioshock 2.

So who knows, maybe they're still working on The Crossing using a new engine (Id tech 5 maybe ?) which would be quite awesome.

Only Time will tell though

the two knights will be the single player characters, the NPCs are actually players. while the NPC players play through team deathmatch, the campaign players kill them and finish their objectives, automatically sending them to the next level. while the NPC players stay in the same one.

okay, here's the summary of my long comment:

deathmatch players play exactly like normal TDM and like NPCs.

campaign players play story mode, except the weak guys you kill are real players.

so it mixes singleplayer with multiplayers components

valve likes to take there time with games. they'll release a gameplay demo and the game won't be released for another 4 years. can you blame them? i haven't quite worked out exactly how they intend to fuse multiplayer with singleplayer, but i know it would be difficult especially with valves outstanding AI director. not to mention the physics and the meshing they have to do. and the reason valve is such a great company is because, no matter how good they're work is, they always try to do better.

uuhm, yea valve's engine is being used, the head of design and animation is from valve, valve's crossplayer mesh is being used, which should be obvious vonsidering the game would be impossible to make without it. it's not just one specific company that works on a game, sometimes it's only two, but that will lead to a shitty game. saying it's arkane studios and not valve is basically like saying ''left 4 dead isn't valve! it's EA games!''

Just because Arkane Studios is using Valve's engine, doesn't mean Valve is developing it. DM also used Source, and Arkane has their name on it not Valve. Valve isn't even mentioned anywhere I hear about this game, and Arkane is mostly in charge of whatever is going to happen to this game. And the art director is now working at Arkane, so you can't connect him with Valve. Never heard of a crossplayer mesh before. Valve are minorly contributing and publishing. But the developer is STILL Arkane.

And what about the beginning of the trailer? Why does it have Arkane but no mention of Valve? Because Valve wasn't even developing this. Publishing, yes, Allowing use of the Source engine, yes. No such thing as a crossplayer mesh, unless you phrased it incorrectly and mean't something else, and this game definetly doesn't need it, since it's something new, never tried before. Developing and publishing are two different things.

crossplayer mesh means that both AI and players can interact with advanced physic objects, turrets, ladder's, in game devices etc. this game could not exist without it.

The real reason is, the PS3 and the Mac uses OpenGL (a format that barely any gaming developers use. And the 360 uses Direct X (format used by ALL gaming developers). PC (uses both).

Direct X is owned by Microsoft. So Sony couldn't use it.

Since Valve decided to make games for the Mac, I think that there might be PS3 games made by Valve.

Too bad the graphics for portal look shitty on the mac.
