  • He moves from one false dilemma to the next, which lead to many obvious errors. His view of sin and atonement lacks a *great* deal of biblical data. His view of the development of doctrine in the West is jaded and inaccurate. Finally, however, his notion of misplaced certainty is quite interesting and compelling.

  • As a Quaker, I'm diggin' this guy. 'Co-suffering', like it. I wrote a poem called 'halls of columbine' where I have Jesus present during the violence and chaos of the slaughter, suffering with us.

  • What's going on with the host's hair?

  • @MichaelDLeonardo well put, makes sense :)

  • I AM THE EVIDENCE that God exists...how? because I was brought into existence not by my own doing, but rather by the will and initiation of something outside of myself...that force is Deity & God in nature...I'm dependent on God, for if I was not dependent, I could & would have created myself....I am a product of the mind of God...God thought of me and spoke me into existence...by the way, GOD LOVES SCIENCE! GOD IS not threatened or intimidated by science, true science glorifies GOD

  • @1greatvoyage you brought into existence with love of your mom and dad, they have intimate sex and here you come...that is a more appropriate answer. :) that "I am a product of the mind of God" is quite irregular for Orthodox Christianity because of the possibility of connection with Platonism and the pre-existence of the soul...Origen advocated that position and his teaching was sentenced to 5 Ecumenical Council

  • @vaalamful For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.- psalm 139:13-16

  • @MichaelDLeonardo (part 2 QUESTION)...when a Father has a child & the child gets lost, who's responsibility is it to seek the other? Does the Father sit around & say to himself, "well, he's responsible for himself, if he wants me he'll have to come find me" or does the Father go out, seek and find his child? I believe God is a Father that lovingly & responsibly seeks out His lost children, even when the lost children have no intention of seeking or finding their Father

  • @MichaelDLeonardo....QUESTION: you said "it is OUR responsibility to seek HIM" but you also say we should avoid a path of "self-reliance"...those two statements seem to contradict each other, don't they? So are we depending on ourselves to find God? Are you saying it is up to US to find God and that if we don't commit to it, it ain't gonna happen? How did you come to that conclusion? please explain :) LIFE and PEACE to you bro

  • @MichaelDLeonardo I have no responsibility to seek anything for which there's no evidence.

  • Sin is an illness that needs healing. Passions are inner human sufferings that lead people to do things that separate them from God (becomes sin). The 14 minute video was worth watching several times for this alone.

  • @bowl300z which god?

  • @8:20 "Atheism is not disbelief in god, but the rejection of the western god."

Wrong. Atheism is the rejection of unsubstantiated claims that god(s) exist(s). If evidence for the existence of a god or gods was produced, there would be no atheists. We don't reject the knowledge of poisons, even though we know they can harm and even kill us, nor do we reject the idea a god(s) exist(s) based on its/their bad character. Claims of a wonderful god would also be rejected in the absence of evidence.

  • @YY4Me133

He says that modern Western Atheism is (historically) due to the rejection of the Western God, meaning that the Western God had become, because of Scholasticism, a "hypothesis" that can be proven externally (read e.g. Anselm of Canterbury). And if this God didn't have to be experienced to be proven, then why believing in him interfering in our lives, rather than simply leaving him be an explanation of the universe? We got from Catholicism to Deism, and from Deism to modern Atheism.

  • @YY4Me133 Can you provide scientific evidence that what you said here is true? Rediculus. Science cannot prove or disprove God as philosophers have acknowledged for the last 5,000 years and why this get regurgatated is do to lazy thinking rather than intellegent discourse. When you say absence of evidence what evidence could you have that there is a creator? your logic here is flawed. The evidence you seek is creation itself and you are with out excuse.

  • @eric80510 Evidence is objective, not subjective. Your claim that "creation itself" is evidence is subjective. I see no "creation," only natural forces. If a god or gods exist, it/they would know what it would take to convince me. So, either there are no gods, or they don't care whether I believe they exist.

  • @YY4Me133 your reasoning is flawed. I agree the evidence is objective ie the creation you see around did not come from me but from God. The evidence is with in creation there is a design. DNA is proof of a designer as it does contain with in it a code deciding just the exact information that describes the being before it exists. you are with out excuse and therefore deny reality. You only get one shot as I do not have time for any more of your comments.

  • @eric80510 You throw out a bunch of baseless assertions, then tell me I'm denying reality. Actual evidence is objective, but what you try to pass off as evidence is subjective. You see everything as evidence that your god exists because you start out with the assumption that it does. People who believe in other gods do the same thing. Science, on the other hand, follows the evidence wherever it leads, and it's never led to any god. Ever.

  • @YY4Me133 Your problem is that the notion of creation is connected with creationism or some intelligent design concepts in your mind, and that in itself has nothing to do with Christianity especially with Orthodoxy.God is revealed in the space of our freedom to receive his word of the Gospel which is a revelation.

  • @vaalamful Again, you say "God is revealed," yet I don't see any god anywhere. Your "holy" book was written by men. For some reason, you trust that what they wrote is true, even though there's no evidence it is. None of the NT was written during the time that Jesus supposedly lived. There's not one chronicler who wrote anything about Jesus during his supposed lifetime. That would be pretty odd if a man was actually performing "miracles" in front of masses of people. It's ancient myth.

  • Yes this Is what I have been saying for years

  • A grand interview with a great Christian Gentleman.
