Tardelli for example scored in a wc final ('82) and won 1 european Cup with Juve plus a handful of scudetti. That is not deny Schole's is one of EPL greatest of all times. @Fit4Purpose80 Scholes had to play with some absolute rubbish at international level, the likes of Danny Mills, Darius Vassell, Emile Heskey etc etc. Then, when he was at his peak in 2004, he was shunted out left in favour of Gerrard and Lampard.

I know that British people are ignorant of continental football, hence most think Gerrard and Lampard are better than Scholes, the most continental english footballer. Scholes if one of the all time greats, just ask Zidane, Davids, Bryan Robson......

@dave790 mate, I adore EPL (as an Italian living in London for many years now...) but to say Scholes is better than any other italian midfielder is gross... I do agree CL standards are probably higher but still winning a World Cup is more difficult because it is played over a shorter number of games at the end of the season. Scholes is a legend and a player I rate among the highest to grace the game but all I am saying is that his record is no better than an Andrea Pirlo's or Marco Tardelli's..

OK SCHOLES is a legend but just don't say he's better than any other italian player ever and I will forgive you :) I could mention Maldini, Baresi, Baggio,Tardelli ,Buffon ,Pirlo, Paolo Rossi, Cannavaro, Nesta and you'd struggle to find a comparable English player of that calibre...

Btw I hope you do win the EC in two years time; there would be an Italian with a medal after all ;)
