This is disgusting. Fatima doesnt realise it but she is really promoting child abuse.
By saying it is OK to be overweight and that it should just be accepted she's causing parents to not address the issue, or be held accountable. Adults eat what they want and are soley responsible for the repocutions, but children are stuck with what their parents feed them. Most cases of severe obesity are continuations from the persons childhood, ussualy a slow and gradual process, stop this nonsense.
It's interesting that as they give Fatima the last word, they end up mocking her and putting her on the spot. The rich guys, even the middle-classmen don't care, and they certainly don't want to address this issue from the angles and perspectives that matter. Personal responsibility only goes so far- we are woven into the same cloth as the society we live in. This is NOT a simple issue and I thank everyone for desperately trying to inform us of that.
Ridiculing fat people is society's favorite past time, why should they not do it.,
But Fatima was a challenge and a match to the opposition, as the presenter said " You have met your match" to the man calling for punishing the fatties.
It annoys me that everyone assumes that if you're fat it is because you re either too poor or too ignorant to make good food choices. I came from a middle class family and I went to college. Mom made home cooked meals every day. Yet I've been big all my life.
@eselle1955 You are right, assumptions, prejudice and discrimination are harming a large section of society, increasing disease, eating disorders, extreme obesity and even suicide.
@ImpKicker We are fighting back, and we do not believe for a minute that most of these people care at all about our health. we think the “it’s for your health” argument to justify this type of behavior is nothing more than a life-raft in a sea of discrimination – something that people can hold onto that they feel justifies actions that they know, deep down, are discriminatory with no basis in fact.
@roxymartini What she meant was, not every one who eats junk food is fat, she said: "thin people eat junk food too" ( it is in the tape), meaning you get Ill when you over eat junk food whether you are fat or thin, the blame is always put on fat people for eating junk food, but thin people eat junk food just as much.
@thegreatlady888 yeah, but thin people probably eat less and exercise more. And what i mean by that is: They are thin because they eat less and exercise more.
Unless theres a medical explanation, people really dont have an excuse to be fat. Also she was so wrong about obesity not costing the NHS a lot. Does she not realise that being obese leads to a huge variety of health risks which in turn costs this country.

Mahdi Hassan makes me nauseous. Maybe he should be used as an anti-fat technique.

@eselle1955 I don't think "everyone" is assuming that, but I do think it's foolish to ignore it as a contributing factor, to not even bring it up.

did she really say "no one who eats junk food is fat" at 2:15? she lost all credibility for me right then.
