back in the 70s you had to have talent you had to be dam good or else you didint survive...you didint last .....these days if you look the part seems to be more important...and the record exects will tell you how long you have.....not the raw talent
People respond to this music today just as much as they did when it came out... Its a shame that the industry doesn't realize it. I don't want to come down on hip hop... but rap doesn't seem to have changed much over the past 20 years... yet no one calls it old... So why can't straight ahead funk still be going and considered the sound of today too... ???
Man the problem here is we need to know where to get the whole thing. Whos the guy on Bass throwing some serious slap/pop funk on this tune. Is it Marcus Miller by chance?
Musicians today sample all the old school stuff and the kids think they created. Little do they know back in the day music was so much better than it is now. You had to have "real" talent to sound good not just equiptment and a good producer to make you sound good.
I really hear ya! Today's young artists act they created music! Not much talent or creativity. More splash than raw talent. Music back in the 70's was the real deal.
Glad you liked it. the sound is excellent for a cheap digital camera. Compare the sound of this vid to several others and you'll agree. Great crowd in downtown Akron. Almost 18,000 looks. Not bad. Let's see what you got.
Order a copy of "Soul and the City" on their website. It was recorded live at BB King's in NYC and includes this song. Great CD, very good sound quality.
I saw them at the Odeon in Cleveland back in the 90's. Believe it or not, me and my friend got invited backstage after the concert. We spent three hours hanging out and drinking beer with these guys. What a great memory.
Back in the '70s I saw AWB live at the El Mocambo, a famous small venue in Toronto. It was an awesome show, with the best combination of players they ever had. Steve Ferrone on drums!
Look at the people. Their energy is undeniable proof that AWB can still bring it.

no it's not, but the part right around 0:40 (bass) sounds just like Lopsy Lu / Silly Putty from marcus' thunder album

Great music, but a frustrating video. It's way too short! Upload the whole song or don't upload anything at all.

It was my first experience with my digital camera. the memory was getting low and couldn't get the whole song. But it is a great tease you must admit
cuffmyers78 4 years ago
A tease, indeed. Time to buy a bigger memory card and upload the whole song. :) Thanks for trying.
