There is a reasonable balance between government intervention and private sovereignty. Educated and pragmatic countries have been developing for it for decades. Rarely do they slip into tyranny unless (though I don't know of this happening, lately) they are misguided by a good speaking to grant indefinite power to government. Again, this seems only theoretical in our modern world of accessible information.

@Hashishin13 Yes we still have those things but without the clear right to call it a militia, it opens the door for laws to be passed prohibiting the use of fire arms and even uniforms, I'll find the law for ya, so u can see it urself but in New Hampshire civilian militias(according to state laws) are illegal, the law prevents associations and groups from using/carrying weapons and prohibits using military uniforms of any kind. This can be evidenced by the fact that George Washington pardoned all the people who rioted against taxes in a minor rebellion under his presidency. It is also obvious because New Hampshire's constitution, which was written during that same era, has the right of REBELLION written into it.
The constitution was a compromise, but the side of liberty loved rebellion.
The Constitution supersedes New Hampshire's constitution. The Constitution of the United States states that declaring war against any of the states or the nation is treason, and gives the Congress the right to punish it accordingly.
Now, Washington, along with Lincoln, may have pardoned the rebels; but that's because the rebels lost. Washington forgave them for treason, but he did not let them succeed in it, and was never going to allow it.

What he was referring to was the statement in the Declaration of Independence that says...

Yes, the Declaration of Independence says that when government becomes destructive of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, it must be overthrown.
Generally, though, the government is not destructive of these rights. It helps pay for health care, it gives subsidized education, it provides food stamps. The Founders revolted against a government that blatantly refused to allow local legislation to pass and neglected its citizens.

Money may now be issued by the government, but once upon a time there was free exchange and real money rose out of it. Guess what it was? Gold and silver. It also doesn't rust/degrade in any significant way over thousands of years.

Benevolent and kind to the PEOPLE, I mean. Not the bureaucrats. Social Security, for example, cannot make any profit whatsoever. Any payroll taxes levied for it are paid back in benefits, and if they are not paid back, they are put into the SS Trust Fund, where they then MUST be paid back if payroll taxes can't fully pay for benefits. And the Trust Fund has an interest rate, so the government ends up owing MORE to beneficiaries.

You mention the anti-gun laws not preventing the massacres? It's pretty simple, if you watched the video, they all took place somewhere that legal citizens can't carry guns, so the criminal walks into the crowds of unarmed people and murders them all.
You talk about people not owning or being capable of using a gun, maybe that is BECAUSE of the gun control?
Again, a law abiding citizen generally wouldn't resist the government arresting them. Even if it might lead to massacre (most did not know they would be massacred). They likely would drop their guns when told, like a good law-abiding citizen.
If they didn't drop their gun when arrested, they wouldn't drop their gun when told to drop their gun. Those massacres were hardly avoidable, gun control laws or not. It's simply good government vs bad government.

Even if you manage to get a system in place to just watch who uses them so the cops can take unregistered guns, what happens if the government becomes criminal? It's hard to ignore having your face put out on every media outlet in the area you committed your crime and having your credit card number traced and having a bounty on your head and being unable to find good work, buy most goods, or live in free society.

Criminals don't register their guns? That's because the people who sell it to them don't check for papers. They are criminals, too. And the government needs more regulation and enforcement to ensure that gun salesmen abide by the law.
Guns ultimately come from SOMEWHERE. If the government simply controls or regulates every weapon transaction in the US, criminals wouldn't get their hands on guns (though future criminals might).

Countries that have transcended into tyranny often so by a revolution or a whole-hearted acceptance of tyranny. Countries like the UK that did not accept it have stood borderline for long. The UK nationalized most of its industry after WWII but privatized it in the 1970s. Government reclined eventually.

Yes, in my view, modern governments attempt to reach equilibrium, like modern economies.
There is a reasonable balance between government intervention and private sovereignty. Educated and pragmatic countries have been developing for it for decades. Rarely do they slip into tyranny unless (though I don't know of this happening, lately) they are misguided by a good speaking to grant indefinite power to government. Again, this seems only theoretical in our modern world of accessible information.

@nafaidni Your wrong, the government was created specifically with the right of rebellion against tyrannical government in mind. This can be evidenced by the fact that George Washington pardoned all the people who rioted against taxes in a minor rebellion under his presidency. It is also obvious because New Hampshire's constitution, which was written during that same era, has the right of REBELLION written into it.
The constitution was a compromise, but the side of liberty loved rebellion.

The Constitution supersedes New Hampshire's constitution. The Constitution of the United States states that declaring war against any of the states or the nation is treason, and gives the Congress the right to punish it accordingly.
Now, Washington, along with Lincoln, may have pardoned the rebels; but that's because the rebels lost. Washington forgave them for treason, but he did not let them succeed in it, and was never going to allow it.

Yes, the Declaration of Independence says that when government becomes destructive of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, it must be overthrown.
Generally, though, the government is not destructive of these rights. It helps pay for health care, it gives subsidized education, it provides food stamps. The Founders revolted against a government that blatantly refused to allow local legislation to pass and neglected its citizens.

@nafaidni You are ignoring the fact that to provide all these "services" they need to steal from productive people. Also even if you support theft from productive people to give to unproductive/less productive people, the government does it incredibly in-efficiently. Do you think all the services people get from government are worth the money it spends on them? If you think so then ask yourself how many people would rather just take the money thrown at the program instead of the program itself.

Money may now be issued by the government, but once upon a time there was free exchange and real money rose out of it. Guess what it was? Gold and silver. Gold and silver are "real" money because everyone can see the inherent value of gold, and it is extremely scarce and hard to produce. It also doesn't rust/degrade in any significant way over thousands of years.

then realize that to provide these services the government gives bureaucrats a cushy job, much more cushy of a job then the private sector would for the same work. You may see this as being "kind" or "benevolent", but its easy to be those things when you are spending money you STOLE from someone else.
Robin Hood is actually a much better person then the government's goons as he at least stole from the corrupt people of his day.(people working in government, things never change)

Benevolent and kind to the PEOPLE, I mean. Not the bureaucrats. Social Security, for example, cannot make any profit whatsoever. Any payroll taxes levied for it are paid back in benefits, and if they are not paid back, they are put into the SS Trust Fund, where they then MUST be paid back if payroll taxes can't fully pay for benefits. And the Trust Fund has an interest rate, so the government ends up owing MORE to beneficiaries.
No private retirement company is that generous.

To be honest, I doubt that not having those anti-gun laws would stop any of those massacres. For one thing, how could the government take those peoples' guns in the first place without force? If they can force you to drop a gun, they can force a bullet into your head.
Secondly, do you honestly think every person who was massacred even owned a gun? The vast majority didn't.

I will address what I can make out however:
You mention the anti-gun laws not preventing the massacres? It's pretty simple, if you watched the video, they all took place somewhere that legal citizens can't carry guns, so the criminal walks into the crowds of unarmed people and murders them all.
You talk about people not owning or being capable of using a gun, maybe that is BECAUSE of the gun control?

Again, a law abiding citizen generally wouldn't resist the government arresting them. Even if it might lead to massacre (most did not know they would be massacred). They likely would drop their guns when told, like a good law-abiding citizen.
If they didn't drop their gun when arrested, they wouldn't drop their gun when told to drop their gun. Those massacres were hardly avoidable, gun control laws or not. It's simply good government vs bad government.

@PaperComedy Problem is that you CAN'T, because criminals IGNORE GOVERNMENT. Even if you manage to get a system in place to just watch who uses them so the cops can take unregistered guns, what happens if the government becomes criminal? Then they know where all the good citizens with guns live, and what kind of weaponry they have/are up against.
A culture of self-defense is a much better solution.

It's hard to ignore having your face put out on every media outlet in the area you committed your crime and having your credit card number traced and having a bounty on your head and being unable to find good work, buy most goods, or live in free society.
Again, no dispute on government knowing WHO has guns. If the government becomes criminal (with its 8000 or so nukes), a few handguns aren't going to change a thing.

Criminals don't register their guns? That's because the people who sell it to them don't check for papers. They are criminals, too. And the government needs more regulation and enforcement to ensure that gun salesmen abide by the law.
Guns ultimately come from SOMEWHERE. If the government simply controls or regulates every weapon transaction in the US, criminals wouldn't get their hands on guns (though future criminals might).

Your wrong because guns don't just come from some magic gun shop that is easy to spot and regulate, they can be made in someone's garage out of some tubing and metal bits. Anything that can be made by a company can be made by a private person. Also if guns become hard to come by then people will invent new (possibly more sinister) weapons. This "slippery slope" concept is fine and well for libertarian bedtime tales and such, but I have noticed it almost never gets carried out in practical reality.
Countries that have transcended into tyranny often so by a revolution or a whole-hearted acceptance of tyranny. Countries like the UK that did not accept it have stood borderline for long. The UK nationalized most of its industry after WWII but privatized it in the 1970s. Government reclined eventually.

The poison dart theory is baseless. And low quality firearms are not of great threat. And not many private citizens know how to make them, anyhow.
Hitler, btw, was an anti-communist just like you. He also hated homosexuals, perhaps like you or like others on your aisle. It's just a revelation of reality, the nukes thing. Nuking the US itself would likely kill the government, too, but assuming the government becomes "criminal", I'm simply saying an armed citizenry wouldn't be able to do much.
Leaders have tried drastic things in the past in the wake of overthrow. Hitler actually tried to dig a hole into the Earth's core and toss a nuke into it and blow up the Earth. If the US government becomes like him, some handguns won't change anything.

It is only a matter of time before this crash course history repeat comes along. When it does, what shall happen? Government nukes are useless against its own... right? I don't want to start conspiracy and all that mumbo jumbo, but think. What would happen? 2012 could very well be the starting point instead of a cataclysmic event. I fear that a revolution has already begun. Texas' wish to secede is only the tip of the iceberg. Look at all the clues. The United States is well on the course for a new revolution. Hitler, by the way, did not take power through a true Rebellion. He took power through manipulation and deception. Remember that. Militia members numbers have grown 60% in the past year. Mostly in the southern states. Texas wants to secede. Michigan Militia is building up. The government warned against a revolt.

In Britain, the civilians are better armed than the police. The police don't even have guns. I think it is good that the police don't have means to oppress the people, but I think it's bad that the police are so easy to kill as a result. Were it up to me, guns for both civilians and the police would be outlawed. I don't act like nothing's wrong. I don't pretend nothing's wrong.
