  • orgue hammond B3,,instrument mythique, très compliqué à maitriser ce genre de clavier !!

    nikel le morceau

  • Dios Santo ! es una bendición poder ver y escuchar a Barbara Dennerlein .

  • nice!

  • If fascinating listening to two very different styles. Dennerleins classical background seems to come through in scale choices and phrasing , alternatively Scott has a more groved , bluessey style.

    Both are virtuosic.

  • que du bonheur pour les oreilles elles sont vraiment formidables Rhoda que j'aime et Barbara, vraiment au top bravo c'est extra

  • So much talent . Love the groove.

  • WHAT A GREAT TIME!!! BRAVA, belles, BRAVA!

  • bravissime

  • Wow. No bass pedal action. In fact, I hear a bass player.

  • @JClore1950 Rhoda Scott is working the bass pedals on this one, but the sound that either one these two ladies can get is very close to an upright bass.It looks like Barbara Dennerlein has her foot moving in a spot or two as well.

  • @JClore1950 Scott is playing pedals. There's a brief shot of her feet tap dancing away! :)

  • @JClore1950 no..hammobd bass by Rhoda Scott ..you heared wrong

  • Just beautiful...

  • deux grandes dames bravo

  • 21 people have no taste..... go away and leave the rest of us in heaven..

  • music is language. that interpretation is badass. it doesn't matter your sex or race, as long as you feel it when you play it. amazing trio- long live feeling

  • Barbara is great....I love her........de drummer is Felix Simtaine .......

  • 21 people should get into a rocket to the deeper space!!

  • Aired in my RJ Shows,...

  • Who is this drummer?

  • If I were a pro musician would be a honour for me to play together with those two ladies

  • Music really is a language. What a great thing it is to see a conversation like this here between them.

  • No place taken, they just lift me up without taking any place.

We should have this two excellent performers on COLOR LINE -FESTIVALS ferry between Kiel an Oslo on a Jazz and/or blues festival in the coming times !!

They are balsamic my ears to a unbelievably extend.

  • Fantastisk samspill av to gode utøvere.

  • @Oddinorge

    Suveränt!

  • yikes

  • hot ass!

  • Ha! Don't forget about Mr. Hammond God - Jon Lord :)

  • playing myself I appreciate the artistry especially her footwork. OUTSTANDING

  • look! white people can do it too!!!

  • @reasonmastaa

There are black notes and white notes on the keyboard as well.

  • I like it when Barbara flips the switch after 1:56 and takes it to the next level.

  • My respect for women just went up...

  • omg! How beautiful is this?? Wonderful, beautiful and talented women enjoying pure moments of music.

  • Barbara's hands are doing a tarantella, they look like pale, hip spiders on the keyboard

  • Love it!!! thanks

  • is that jon lord behind the drums ?

  • Nice cooking!!!

  • this is just 2 hot...........jimmy smith would be proud

  • @hippyblood4

    fuck i would be proud

  • I love it, great moments of organ playing! Incredibly thrilling! Thanks for posting!

Those two ladies are enjoyable in every minute!

  • Thoroughly enjoyed! my first time hearing & viewing, i envy anybody who can beat this beautiful instrument. Is it possible for a 39 yo intelligent woman to learn to play?

  • @allendiggsu Why wouldn't it be?

As long as you don't expect to sound like the ladies in this movie within a year (or ever, for that matter....), you'll be just fine :) Even if you think you're to old already, then think about it the other way around: you may yet have 50 or more years to live. That is a lot of time to practice and enjoy yourself.

    Good luck :)

  • @SilverHammond i absolutely want to develop my own sound & style. i would neva want to sound like these women, thts wht makes them, them! i would love to get lessons but most of the musicians that i know are so busy.

  • @allendiggsu Then try to find a musiscian / teacher through the internet :)

There is always an excuse not to start playing.

    - I'm too busy

    - I can't find a teacher

    - I'm not talented enough

    - I'm not smart enough

When you're old, you're going to regret all of those excuses... I know my mom does, and she could have taken lessons alongside me, with the same teacher, 20 years ago. If she had, she'd be playing at at least a decent level.

    Good luck starting ;)

  • Anyone know the title of this Blues?

  • @Aiden057 an original composition by rhoda scott..............."nova"

  • I played on the great B3 years ago for one time, and think it is a great organ.

  • Rhoda is playing on a new B3. It's not realy the same... It's a pity .....

  • Rhoda is playing on a new B3. It's not realy the same... It's a pity .....

  • THESE LADIES MAKES A WORLD OF MUSIC!!! AWESOME! PEACE&BLESSINGS

  • I think Rhoda is more blues influenced than Barbara but Barbara is just crazy harmonically..

  • I have Hammond,too.

Please show me in JAPAN Yuuji playing!!!!

  • I vote for Rhoda's feet. But while these two are good they can't compare to Giants of the Organ Come Together: Brother Jack McDuff and 'Groove' Earl Holmes.

  • who is the drumer ? is really good,he got the swing yeah

  • good job

  • Les deux plus grandes stars mondiales féminines du Hammond, sur cette vidéo c'est Rodha qui est sur le fameux B3 (le nec).

  • класс

  • Not sure if the speakers are Lesleys or Tremolo's?

  • @workidsaworkieticket Leslies. Typical sound.

  • I agree with all of you guys and gals.

  • Oh my god... These fine and lovely ladies really ROCKS. This is real soulfull music like only with a hammond organ can be played. God bless them...

  • FANTASTICO !!!!!!!

  • it does not get any better then that .Two great key board players in sync together .Could listen to them play all day....JAZZZZ 4 EVER

  • nice jams they got a good rif going here

  • jetzt hobede.... des Schema. ICH BIN BESOFFEN:;

  • IS THAT JON ON THE DRUMS ?

  • True virtuosity!

  • As a long time Keith Emerson fan, I am resigned to say these women make him look like an english school boy....imho

  • @technocrash09 No Technocrash09. Emerson doesn´t look like a schoolboy. I´m pretty shure these ladies have a great respect for him. What I´m agreed with you is these women are just "Fantastic"

  • @cantoresdefreites Oh, I am sure they do as well. Like I said, I am a long time fan of Mr. Emerson....and I mean a LONG time (I was prolly 20 years old when Tarkus came out!). I have seen ELP 5 times and admire all their work. But I digrees. The first time I saw Babs D. I was completely blown away! And it's all good!

    peace

  • W H O A !!!!!!!!!!! FaNTASTIC~!!!!

  • Right on!

  • These musicians have somehow found the right formule to drive me crazy! I go nuts....ultimate killer musicians

  • These musicians have somehow found the right formule to drive me crazy! I go nuts

  • un regal

  • IN SYNC

  • ΥΠΕΡΟΧΟ !!!!

  • Wow, they really compliment each other...Two baddest females on the B3....

  • Wish the UK had quality Shows like this on TV but then again, there wouldn't be enough time for Football or Emmerdale? Hmm

  • So nice to see 2 Organists performing together in Harmony! Nothing beats the Hammond Organ sound for certain!

  • Great! Even Jon Lord paid his respect to these ladies and played drums at this gig!

  • The Young and the Lady ! Respect !!!!

  • SON UNAS HERMOSAS EXCELENTE TALENTO CHICAS FELICIDADES POR ESE DON QUE LES DIO YA SABEN QUIEN :::::DIOS::::::

  • GIRLS CAN SWING AS GOOD AS BOYS TOO

  • i so love these two playing together like this!

  • Go ahead....drive me nuts

  • 8.16 - 8.20 the tag is sticking out of Barbara's pants, Rock and Roll!

  • what can I say...beautifullllll

  • Excellent, you can see Barbara's feet are itching to play the pedalboard.

  • I love the organ. These women are AWESOME!!!

  • The finest inter-racial harmony; so very lovely!

  • @imnemigre With music we tend to judge with our ears, not our eyes until we See who's performing. 'So very lovely' i agree with, but the inter-racial harmony, i disagree with. That's like Lena Horne & other greats, Michael Jackson, & Paul McCartney, James Ingram & one of th 'Dubbie Brothers' performing. Not trying to cause controversy with your post, but we are tired of people judging with their eyes, & act like they get offended when someone gives them, constructive critism. Just enjoy music!

  • i love you Barbara,i will see you in Italy!!

  • Jimmy Smith is smilin' real big!

  • I'm from Toronto and a B3 player myself

Just ran across these two by chance

Bring them here I'd love to load the hall!!!

    They are amazing Wow!!!!!

  • oh my god ! I never see two giant masters playing Hammond

  • Those two women know their way around a keyboard. That was great!

  • Barbara might be playing the Hamichord, only sold in Europe.

  • Awesome!!!!

  • nice ladies~~~~~!

  • Enter Midori Ono,these ladies will be dinner!

  • Who's the drummer?

  • The only two lady organists that actually play bass pedals...jazz that is!

  • Great great solos - but yet: when BD slowly lands the vibrant airplane of her gorgeous solo after 2:42 she very clearly announces the end of her part - but yet, RS sleeps well after her moment of entry > 2:49 and only after a few clumsy notes will she catch up.

  • The ladies are having a great time and so have I.

  • Bonjour,

Des dames, de très grandes dames, et un Mr Jimmy SMITH aussi, qui hélas nous a quitter !

Je m'interdis volontairement dans dire plus, il suffit d'écouter.

    Un seul mot bravo

    danbinth

  • Rhoda's is a XB-3 as you can see in 4:47 on the organ, besides it has beige 16th und 5 1/3 Drawbars.

Barbaras Organ sounds a bit strange, Rhodas organ much warmer.

    Great Video and playing!

  • I'm going mental whenever witnessing this. It's like there's a Hammond plot out there to drive a lot of funkateers completely insane.....hahahahaha. Wicked!

  • Thats not a XB-3. It's a C3 with built in Midicontrol. The insert was made in the end of the eighties.

  • It's not just the music, but it's also great to see these Barbara and Rhoda enjoying the playing. It makes me feel happy.

  • Hey Dum! He also looks like Steven Segals dad! Maybe your doorman is really Steven Segal's Dad.throw a karate chop to his face. If he feints left and delivers a kai sai blow to the base of your skull, you'll know its him!

  • very good

  • Those two artists wrung more out of their organs in one song than most people wring out of their entire lives.

    AWESOME !!!!

  • The drummer looks just like the night doorman for my building. I wonder if he's the same guy?

    Who knew?

  • Amen, sisters!

  • C'est parfeit!

  • What an awesome sound these two ladies get with those tonewheel organs and those Leslies! They're both incredibly talented, but Barbara is incredible!

  • I Love It!! It's been a very long time since I've seen Rhoda Scott. she looks very good. Aunt Rhoda, if you are reading this I Love & Miss You Very Much.. Hope to hear from you soon. Uncle Chet has my information.. Love ya. Mrs. Vonda Christmas Wimberly

  • Cool drummer too..older musos can swing there arse off.

  • Is Rhoda really playing an XB3 there, not a real B3? i was wondering abou the sound of her organ...

  • Barbara's is a B3, but I'm not sure about Rhoda's.

  • Yes, It's a XB-3. The sound is a bit different, there isn't the real B3 sound.

    But both are fantastic!

  • She might be playing the Hamichord, only sold in Europe.

  • Barbara might be playing the Hamichord, only sold in Europe.

  • @hans1970 Could be a chopped B3 mounted into a road case?

  • @hans1970 Rhoda's says XB-3 on the side, so my guess would be that it's so. :-)

  • @SkateYourOwnStyle Rhoda's is playing an XB-3

  • the interplays from 5:03 onwards catches my breath. Awesome it gave me a sensation so great. BOTH ARE FANTASTIC!!!!

  • An unworldly feast!

  • I love Hammond B3. Two Big Lady in duel. The Dennerlein much refined, the Scott much aggressive. One difficult mach. Cleverness exceptional. 10st

  • Barbara Dennerlein is a genius

  • at 5:30.....rhoda jus killed it....excellent phrase

  • Ein Wort: zuckersüss

  • One word -- SCHWEET!

  • They're having such a wonderful conversation!

  • @Toynbee3

The drummer is Felix Simtaine !

  • Love every minute of this excellent playing :-)

  • The bet Hammond EVER! Are you touring in Scandinavia sometimes?

  • I remember allman bros , greg allman , He needs to take lessons from her ,Barbara , no comparison

  • Gregg Allman is a singer/songwirter and a guitarist who switched to B3. He does a fine job with the Allman Brothers, and is a very tasteful player who respects the limits of his playing. Barbara has said very nice things about him in an interview. But I know your comment was meant in a good way ;-)

  • Yes i wore out 2 Allman Bros live at fillmore lps way back when they first came out , I was a very big fan had all lps , I guess after i discovered Jazz and all the cool blues stuff from 40,s & 50's , i lost interest in them !!!

  • w00t the leak sound 6:00 - 6:13 ... the look on Barbara's face viewed from Rhonda's place was priceless.

  • AMAZING!!!!! GO GIRLS!!!!

  • My friends, I know little about organ playing or about organs in general. I only know what I can hear, and me likey this a lot!!! Swingin' stuff!!!

  • Thanks for naming the drummer. I so love this post and these awesome mistresses of the amazing B3.

  • With Arie Ribbens on drums!

  • Respect.

  • OMG!!! This is simply FANTASTIC, AWESOME, UNBELIEVABLE! Great organ players, great interaction, great music, great show, great all!!

  • Good music like this is hard to come by these days. This makes you want to turn it up, and tap your foot.

  • Unbeilevable. apples and oranges....

no way to compare barbara to rhonda. so let's just sit back and enjoy this awsome display of hammond/leslie artisty. From what i can see is, Rhonda is playing a new digital hammond....Barbara is playing a chop Hammond with a retro fitted synth/piano on the lower keyboard. And all the other stuff she has added I can't even guess at. Ultimatelly it is so frigging good.

  • I would be interested to know why you think Rhonda's Hammond is the new digital version? I'm a Hammond fan and I am curious if the new Hammond is gaining acceptance.

  • Good question. Educated guess really but the tipoff is the shape of the drawbars, plus 3 diff. colored drawbars and the biggest tip is the percussion tabs to the right of the drawbars. Butttttt, I got out my copy of "THE HAMMOND ORGAN: BEAUTY IN THE B" by Mark Vail and I found a pic of a much younger Rhonda Scott on page 288 sitting on what appears to be this very Hammond. The caption says it's a B-3000. There are a lot newer digital Hammonds since then. I highly recommend the book! Thanks!!

  • Thanks, just got the book for my Birthday, looks good!

  • That's so great! Mark Vail, if he knew me, would thank me. haha... Actually this book is a wellspring of information that you can't get anywhere else. I've referred back to it on multiple occasions and you will too. Happy Birthday my friend. Long live Hammond/Leslie. Just keep the Hammond/Leslie dream alive. I know I will. :)

  • Oh, I meant to tell you to be watching around 3:30 and 3:50 for a good look at the drawbars and percussion. Compare hers to Barbara's 4 spaced out percussion tabs. That's the original layout. And yeah, they're getting more use probably because they're "more dependable"?? no tubes, moving parts to go bad. I've had 2 and they're built like tanks. I've heard the digitals are around $15K.....ugh! haha

  • It is, and we are in the 5th Generation of the Digital Hammond. The second generation digital of the New Hammond B3 MkII digital.

  • This is one of the great classic Hammond vids. Great post.

  • These chicks can swing! I'd like to buy them both dinner!

  • Note the different way of improvising... Barbara big scales - Rhoda big chords ;-)

  • duos mithyque !!!!!

  • So beautiful! This brought tears to my eyes...

  • Oh Yeh, give Santa Claus moonlighting on drums a hand. He's doin'a good job! :-D

  • The beard means nothing. This man has a life knowledge on the instrument. Drums don' t can't tell the age of the person who is playing them.

  • This is so beautiful I'm in tears! I've loved Babs for YEARS but Rhoda is new to me. Thank you so much for turning me on to her.

  • U R welcome, check out the clips in my favorites, there is a one hour HD video from a French festival with Rhoda and Barbara

  • Well, don't you know Rhoda is a B3 Hammond "pointure" as we used to call such a great artist here in France; she's living here since mid 60's.

I saw her performance last year with "The Lady Quartet" band, at the Sunset club, Paris: absolutely FAN-TAS-TIC; never miss one of her concert, you're never desapointed by. A CD of the Sunset sessions has been released, get it quickly and turn the music on, a nice voyage

  • Thanks. I googled her after watching this so it's easy to understand why she's not well known in the US.

  • Why quibble? This is frackin' beautiful!

  • Greattt !!! God bless these two musicians

  • Ebony and Ivory, at its VERY best! God Bless these 2!!

  • Right. And funny enough, they're BOTH playing black and white keys! Go figure!

  • Yes Hans it is fair enough from your part

  • I would love to send a video responde but it seems to be blocked that means of response.

    It is a pitty

  • Hammond fans visit hammondfanatic's channel for lots of great old school organ vids.
