  • old style trucks, the new ones have a more rounded roof above the cab but still a serious hauler!

  • the best size truck is .......hmmmmm........just enogh head room for the fitter to walk under it without getting a sore back....remember...24hr shift = oil change every 2 weeks

  • Anyone else seeing how this thing would be best employed as zombie squasher rather than a mining truck?

  • KOMATSU builds the best equipment!

Rish Equipment is Virginia and WV Rocks!

  • i start my first shift next friday on a 830e and possibly a 930 later the summer.

needless to say im pretty jacked!

  • The Komatsu 960E hauls 360tons.Twice large as a Koamtus 830E??????We are talking 500tons.Who makes tires today that will be big enough to carry this phantom hauler of yours?Liebherr will have a new 400ton T282C at The Bauma show in Munich next month.I also think that Peabody took a order for 14 of these units out in the prb area.

  • @generationll Goodyear does! they just came out with a 63" ire that stands 18' tall massive amazing tires

  • wat is meant to happen?

  • The Komatsus shown, like the CAT 797's and the Terex Titans are big but even bigger haul trucks are planned for the near future. These trucks boast 8000+HP diesel-electric engines, all-wheel-drive, duplex rear axles, 10 wheels of 70+inches in diameter each shod with tires of 17+feet in diameter, and can carry 750-1000 (or more!) tons. These trucks will probably be about 30 feet wide x 30 feet tall x 70 feet long. These trucks will make Komatsus, Caterpillars, and Terexes look small

  • who makes these?

  • From the sources I heard from, it's likely either Liebherr or Komatsu will make the larger trucks. They will probably be at a mine near you around late 2011 or early 2012 if all goes well.

  • I'm afraid your sources are incorrect.

  • Komatsu makes a 960 model. It can carry 380 tons. They are in operation in Canada since 2008 in the tar sands.

  • You are so wrong my friend, The komatsu 830 E has 2200 hp, rolls on 57 inche rims with 11.5 feet tall tires, runs on diesel/ electric drive system ( same as trains). Has a payload capacity of 240 metric ton. The Cat 797 and Komatsu 960 are the biggest built at 380 ton capacity as tires cannot handle the weight of a larger truck.

  • You misunderstood my comments. I was talking about the future larger trucks that will be at least twice as large as the Komatsu 830E. They will probably use 86-inch rims shod with tires as large as 18 feet in diameter which should easily handle the larger loads. According to the Guiness Book of World Records, the practical upper limit for rubber tires is 20 feet in diameter.

  • @welderns The idea behind these trucks arnt Horsepower. What they need is some serious Torque!!!!!!!!

  • @glenn3rd2004 The idea behind this trucks arnt Horsepower. They need some serious Torque!!!!!!!!

  • BMW has vehicles assembled in SC, USA. So technically, US built BMW vehicles are American vehicles, while "BMW" is still German and so are those vehicles that are made in Germany.

Your parents may be from "x" but you where born in 'y' though you may stay in "z" . Simply apply the same concerning Komatsu.

  • Komat'su are more fast than caterpillar. In the mine i work i do some service to 830E Komat'su and 793B cat. In the hills, the cat can't win in speed to Komat'su. Also, with the road wet the 830E don't slides.

  • The Komatsu plant is located at 2300 NE Adams street in Peoria,Ill

  • they are american trucks they are built in peoria il

  • THOSE ARE AMERICAN TRUCKS!!!!

  • Komatsu is japanese...

  • you've never looked at the frame label plate have ya? TPWRAILFAN has the exact answer

  • Maybe built in US but that's japanese technology. There's some Honda (example)factories in Canada but Honda is from Japan...

  • umm yeah, that's plainly obvious from the name, but before they were Komatsu's, they were Dresser, and before that, Wabco

  • Komatsu is powered by Cummins
