The male dancer in this sequence is Joey Pugliese. I took class from him when I was a kid at dance conventions. I then had the great opportunity to take class with him in New York in the early 80s. I think he moved to Pennsylvania around that time to teach at a university. I don't know what happened to him after that. He was a very energetic and encouraging dance teacher.

I've been watching this dance contest sequence forever! And I can watch it over and over and still get goosebumps every time. The latin couple is muy caliente! That woman is absolutely fantastic--I bow to you to this day. And the man is waay sexy with that vest and handlebar mustache! Tony was right to give them the prize!

The woman who played the Puerto Rican dancer is actually Jewish. Her name is Adrienne Frimet. I don't know whay she was never credited with it but she is my mom's cousin

@Fabian1919 The name of the actor is Joey Chevrés...I know that because he was my dance instructor in Puerto Rico since I was 6 years old ;-). He is an amazing dancer and choreographer.

How could he ever again stand in front of the mirror in his underwear and gold chain and look himself in the eye, knowing he had accepted an award that wasn't rightfully his? A la verdad que los dos primeros bailarines estuvieron brutales, pero la pareja de puertorriquenos se pasaron, la musica, el baile estuvo pasao, se merecian el primer premio y fue lo que me gusto en la escena en que John Travolta, reconocio que el no se lo merecia, y rapido fue a entregarselo. The Latin couple was better without a doubt. However, this movie was around the time when the "Hustle" was hot and explosive. Very little Hustle moves in this movie. I wish Youtube had the clip from the "Joe Franklin Show" in New York when he did his segment on this movie and had Hustle dancers on the show that were supposed to be in the movie. If the dancing in the movie was like what was on the show, this movie would have been much better. For those of you who remember that era!!

devido a que es solo instrumental tiene un nombre algo raro, se llama "K-Jee" y es Interpretada por MFSB. Esta cancion es el eslabon entre la musica disco y la salsa al usar ritmos latinos fusionadas con destellos de musica disco.
